Cafe Des Architectes/CDA Ratings and Reviews
Again, had a wonderful mini 4 course lunch at CDA, and it doesn't disappoint since the menu options change everytime I visit. I try to have only 1-2 pieces of bread from any bread baskets when I eat out, but at CDA it's so hard to take my hands off the rolls and baguettes, especially with the delicious olive spread. Great atmosphere and excellent food!
The Neighborhood Special menu is just as terrific as the "regular" menu. The flat iron steak was tender and cooked just right; the beet salad was earthy and creamy; the amuse bouche with its "large bean" and chicken terrine heavenly. Service was attentive and sensitive to the flow of conversation.
Our dining experience in Cafe des Architectes was wonderful. The food was superb, the staff friendly and helpful yet reserved, allowing us the chance and time to choose, rather than telling us "what their favourite was" etc. The wine list is excellent, including many choices for Flights of Wines. We shall definitely go back as the whole evening was a most pleasant experience. A true restaurant of QUALITY! Bonne chance a tous.
Went there for anniversary...dude (manager?) sang Unchained Melody with an Elvis-style smooth croon to my wife and me and foolish had me join. Food was great and the selection was generous...they had two different prix-fixe style menus. The chairs had strange stick legs and I couldn't practice romantics and push in my wife but besides that, big ups.
A fabuslous experience. Each course of the fixed price meal, from the amuse bouche through the perfectly wonderful desserts, was well prepared and impeccably presented. The beet salad was heavenly, the scallop appetizer perfectly done, even the bread basket was exceptional. Service was attentive yet unobstrusive.
Everything was wonderful and made for the perfect romantic evening I had hoped for! The simple heirloom tomato amuse bouche was refreshing and delicious. The 5-hour spare rib appetizer was divine. The ahi tuna entree was out of this world. And the rose raspberry souffle was heavenly! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was terrific, well priced and served perfectly. One SLIGHT mistake-the coffeee was poured before it had steeped in the pot, (it was a french press coffee pot) so it was watery, but was replaced with another pot immediately. We had a lovely time. We were impressed with the contemporary and elegant setting. Our server was friendly, helpful, witty. We enjoyed the specials on the prix fixe, great value at $29 pp. Particularly loved the braised ribs with citrus foam, the cauliflower soup with black truffle and the sea bass. Desserts were scrumptuous and refreshing after flavorful entrees. The birtday surprise for our son was colorful and brought a cheery end to our evenig. We will be back for sure.
We were a bit disappointed with the food at CDA. I had read great things about the restaurant, but the food was just mediocre the night we were there. The bread wasn't warm, the soup was a bit watery, and the fish wasn't tender. The desserts were good though. Maybe it was just an off night.
The service was very good. Although our main waiter wasn't as accomodating as CDA has a reputation of being, the additional waitstaff were friendly and attentive.
Great time tonight! Our first time there. Service was spot-on. Informed, respectful and never hovering (but, your water glass was never empty.).
The amuse buche was a chicken salad that was very flavorful and a nice start to an excellent dinner. Then I had the 5 hour braised short rib with oranges, spinich and citrus foam. Stunning presentation, the spinich puree make the rib meat taste sweeter. The citrus foam and orange was great. I had the rack of lamb, potatoe croquettes with chedder. Cooked perfectly.
Dessert, raspberry souffle w/ lemmon sorbet, more raspberries "stuff" and tappiocca. LOVELY. French press coffee.
Nice room, good service, stunning food presentation, taste is awesome. GO!
Everything about CDA was marvelous. Service was top-notch; our waiter's suggestions were spot-on. The food looked amazing and tasted as good as it looked. The prices were very fair given the quality of preparation, and the wine list was far, far from over-priced. This place is a real value. This may be our new Favorite French Restaurant.
I booked my reservation months in advance for a birthday diner. I had made a note to mention that it was for such an occasion and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had been recognized by a small parfait and chocolate birthday wishes.
One thing that I was not pleased with was the lack of privacy between diners. The romantic ambiance hoped for such an occasion was slightly scewed by easdropping patrons within arms length of us.
Food was good, presentation was exciting but romantic privacy factor needs improved.
We ate early (5:30 reservation) due to tickets for a 7:30 show at Lookingglass. So the indoor retaurant was not crowded at all...thus was very quiet. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner. Though we live in the neighborhood this was our first time dining there. We will defintiely go back.
The space itself is beautiful and, in and of itself, merits a visit. Despite my 4 star food rating, I really cannot speak to the food (Open Table requires, incidentally, this rating), as I only met a friend there for coffee. The coffee seemed a bit weak, in all honesty (hence 4 stars). Coffee is French-pressed. If you are accustomed to Starbucks, order your coffee double-strength and don't let the server plunge it for you - let it steep a couple more minutes and plunge it yourself. Otherwise, the service was truly outstanding and you can't beat the atmosphere. The bathrooms are about as nice as bathrooms come - so be sure to go! I look forward to reviewing CDA again when I actually eat there someday.
our waiter made our evening. we were initially unsure of the wine we wanted but our waiter made recomendations and brought small tastes and we settled on a nice poille fuisse. the menu was quite good-something for everyone -from caesar salad which had an unusual chopped presentation which was quite good to short ribs which could only be described as dangerously good. the sides of corn and green beans from green city market are to be recommended. it is aneighborhood gem that we return frequently to since it is the toal paxkage-great food for breakfast lunch and dinner and the outdoor seating affords fun people watching.
Very enjoyable. Some of the entrees were quite subtle in their flavoring (I ordered the walleye and my mother the ahi tuna). The beet salad was exquisite- the textures and flavors were sumptuous! The pistachio bombe for dessert was heavenly-everyone at the table was raving about it.
An amazing dinner. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and they were indeed special. The 3 course prix fixe at $42 was a steal. Try the Madagascar shrimp or the Chioggia baby beet salad. The walleye with manilla clams very fresh and unique flavors. The tendorloin with english peas and garlic cream out of this world. Wonderful dessert and cheese array. As a surprise they presented us with a chocolate rectangle with happy Birthday writing in gold.
The most attentive service I've had in years!
Beautiful space and exceptional service! The $29 special for Sunday to Tuesday is a great deal. The food is beautifully presented but from a flavor standpoint was just okay, not great but certainly tasty. The bread, beet salad and mango mojito desert were the standouts.
Our reservation was an early one so we were maybe 1 of 4 tables being waited on. I mention this cause it was nice to have the stafff waiting on us as if we were celebrities! The only reason why we came here was because they serve Foie Gras. We were not disapointed. The Prie Fixed menu does not have the Foie Gras, But we did not care because we enjoyed choosing more items to enjoy. If you are on a budget they have a Prie Fixed menu on Sun-Tues that allows you to choose from a set menu an appetizer, main and dessert for $29. All the items on that list were almost the same ones we had. It really was a great selection. And the Desert menu which is not part of the choices (but as a splurge you must try) was a Flight of Grand Marnier!
