Although the hostess said “Happy Anniversary”, I was disappointed they did not offer us anything. Especially after I witnessed them bring a “Birthday” Dessert to another table.
It was A wonderful evening with excellent service (rob).
Last minute lunch before flying out. We couldn’t have been more pleased. Great view of the marina, food very good and our server was superb especially with getting us out on time for a flight
Food and service were top-notch! Could not have been happier. Great Sunday Brunch on the water.
The food was average at best and certainly not worth the higher than average price. The views of the marina are very nice and the service is excellent though. If you are a foodie you will be disappointed but if you are looking for a nice place to take a date, this place has a view and often good live music. It's not noisy so you can still hold a decent conversation. You are also forced to valet so expect an additional $6 plus tip, but again, you can use this to impress a date :-)
One of our absolute favorite places in MDR! Food and service always excellent (especially the cheese plate says our 9 year old!) Henri is the best! You must come here if you are in the LA area. You will be glad you did.
We celebrated a birthday and ordered wine, a starter and yummy salads. Since it was our birthdays, we had a very special birthday dessert. Everyone was very gracious and solicitous to us. The lunch was delicious and enjoyable!
We had our engagement there this past weekend. Excellent staff and service !
We had the fabulous dinner at Cafe del Rey. Truffle pizza was as good as other reviewers said. Some of us had pastas which were very tasty. Scallop dish melted in your mouth. Lamb burger was so-so. Ahi tuna salad was tasty. Service was good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was suit full for college graduation get together. We enjoyed the evening thoroughly.
SERVICE AND FOOD TERRIFIC; EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT
The scallops in one order were very off putting with a rancid smell. Promptly reordered and the replacement was very good. Every one can make a mistake, but with the smell someone should have caught it.
Service was attentive and very good. This was a party of 8 but you would have thought it was for 2 or 4, right on!
This restaurant is close to me. It's a well-known and respected place on the marina, with a good bar, good food, and a great view of the boats.
Among the "on the Marina" dining options, Cafe Del Rey is a solid choice. Cheaper than Cast & Plow, and more formal than Tony P's. Well prepared seafood, with creative twists. Competent, unobtrusive service. Pricey, but the view is worth it. We had the Ling Cod, Octopus, Scallops and Albacore -- all were very good.
We love the atmosphere but it's a little noisy and the lovely background music is always a little too loud. Best to sit far from the bar where the music is playing.
Service was slow however it was very busy. We were there for Sunday brunch.
Great brunch, good food with a very fair price of 3-courses and bottomless drinks for $44. Waterfront view, live music and open concept space make for a great dining space
Met some friends here for dinner on a Friday night. We had a table by the window. The view of the sunset over the Marina was lovely. The service was excellent and attentive. The food was great. Two of us had the Baramundi which was excellent. Overall a very good dining experience.
Excellent! We had a large party--they were very attentive; food was delicious; waiter was very friendly! It was well worth the money.
Cafe Del Rey is a great and consistent restaurant where the food, the service, the ambiance and the view are all superlative........can't ask for any place better than Cafe Del Rey.
Been going there for years and the current staff is excellent. Friendly, outgoing, accommodating.
Food is always excellent and the menu changes seasonally.
Wine is A+ , both in list and selection of wine by the glass. In fact, best on the Westside.
View and overlook into the Marina is very night and sunsets are awesome.
Go there and check it out!
Always Delicious , Always Festive
With Marina views disappearing by the minute this Marina Marvel pleases the eye with its water side presence and its delicious food. The new Spring menu featured some excellent fish dishes, sea bream with ginger lemongrass sauce and fennel and Icelandic cod beautifully served with leek and caviar sauce. For a starter the Parsnip soup with a hint of spice was superb. Our grand daughter's 21st birthday couldn't have found a better way to celebrate than with Pastry chef Laura's creamy cheesecake toped with a lemon and apple garnish . Heavenly.
Was disappointed. Arrived 15 minutes early and was told we would have to wait for 2 parties ahead of us for a window table facing the yachts despite my reservation specifically requesting one. When we were finally seated after a 30 minute wait it was dark. The live music was too loud, our waitress was not at all relaxed and the food was mediocre. In all I would not return.
The dining experience at Cafe Del Rey was outstanding: great food, great service and an excellent view of the marina. We plan to return for special occasions.
This place is wonderful, terrific food, service and views. Parking, easy to get to. Seafood, especially me ceviche was beyond savory
The quality of the meal was a disappoinment. The server Vladimir was lovely as was the location and View but it was a futile attempt at having a good meal the New York steak was definitely a mistake and the octopus was chewy.
Went for the prix fixe brunch. It's a fantastic deal that includes 3 courses and all you can drink bloody mary, mimosa or sparkling wine. Had the cheese and charcuterie for a starter, followed by a well executed and tasty croque madame and a Mexican chocolate pudding that was ouststanding. My only complaint is our server was slow getting our order so we didn't have our first course until about 35 or so minutes after we sat down. They did pass out free mini muffins which held us over. Our main course came not too long after but there was another big gap for dessert, which we had to order twice.
Despite the slowish service, this is my new favorite brunch spot. The food was solid, the drinks flowed, and the atmosphere is great.
Great service and generous, delicious salads. Would return!
Without thought, my husband and I decided to go to dinner and Cafe Del Rey came to mind. The hostess was fantastic, anticipating our desires of seating and updating us on the restaurant latest since we last dined, very warm and friendly. She very much enjoys her job.
Our waitress was professional, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We had the salmon and sea bream and both with the sides were excellent, our starters were each a cesar salad, which was very fresh and tasty. Very Easy for us to quickly select wine from a good list of choices. Our overall experience couldn’t have been better. We’re so pleased Cafe Del Rey has only gotten better with the years. I wish I remembered our waitress’ name however, hopefully she tend us the next time. My husband commented, “ a fantastic meal and outing”.
I had lunch with my two grown sons. The service was outstanding and the food and menu were perfect. We loved the lobster roll, cerviche , salads and lamb burger.
I was also pleased to see several Paso Robles wines wines on their list.
We will be regulars next time. Really pleasant, pretty place for any event. The last time I was there we celebrated my birthday. It was great.
Fantastic view, nice restaurant, service/employees and collaborators hight level, very good food, certainly we'll be back.
We have gone to this restaurant regularly over the years--every 5-6 weeks or so. Sometimes they have a lull in quality, this is one of those times. We'll give them a break for a year and see if they recover. The last time we were there (4/1/18), the fish was overcooked and the prices had been jacked way up. If you're going to charge $42 for sea bream, you better serve the a whole fish, not an overcooked measly filet. Any high-end Italian restaurant in LA, e.g. Valentino, wouldn't dare not do a whole branzino or sea bream, given theses are small fish. Our previous visit, the king salmon was also overcooked. This is very disappointing since this has been a good restaurant in the past.
Staff handled Easter well. Loved steak & eggs Quiche was so so great for the money
The welcoming was very pleasant. Seated us right away and acknowledged the reason for our dining. All around 5 stars for everything.
Food lacked taste and spices. All the meals were very bland.
Oysters were extraordinary, squid ink pasta was very good.
Most of the rest was good enough.
What knocked us out was the service.
We enjoyed one of the best waitresses we have ever had.
Her attention and communication skills were exactly right.
It made our evening.
Love this place. The food, service and view are fantastic! Very special.
