Cafe Del Rey
Book your next event with us
There were 12 of us. We were seated as soon as our whole party arrived. Beautiful view. The service was great. Food was awesome as usual. There was also live music for Brunch. Our visit was very enjoyable and we will be back. Thank you
Great food, great service
Good service, good food and great view!
This was my first return for dinner at Cafe Del Rey after a six-year absence. When seated at the table I have a conversation with our waiter explaining the problems I've had in the past and I was reassured that that would not occur again. My server was quite attentive and was sensitive to my needs, however he does not control the kitchen nor Management's philosophy. I chose for my entree the chef's special halibut. Presentation was quite appetizing and was accompanied with six clams. The Halibut was tasty and I wish the portion was a reasonable size. My wife ordered for her entree filet mignon medium rare. Unfortunately, the filet was presented rare and not acceptable. The filet was returned for proper cooking and by the time it was served I finished my halibut. To add insult to injury the portion size of the filet was small and not what one would expect from a restaurant with a good rating. The apology I received from the server was a complementary desert. Small portions, inconsistant preparation indicating kitchen problems and/ or lack of experience. When a restaurant prices the items on their
menue I expect comensurate value .
Unfortunately, that was not received by me and therefore I will not return to Cafe Del Rey.
One of my all-time favorite restaurants....we have been dining there since the mid 1990s. Everything about the experience is perfection....ambience, service, food presentation, menu selections and price! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Enjoy!
We love the food, ambience and the service - not to mention the fabulous views of the Marina Del Rey harbor. The service is also wonderful.
Celebrating 2 birthdays.
Our server Laura was the BEST!
Also all the greeters and bus staff were top notch.
Even the car attendant was so helpful and attentive especially to our friend with a walker.
We enjoyed the food and ambiance.
New Years Day
Good food and ambiance but kitchen was very slow - three hours for a light brunch- service otherwise was excellent- they did their best😊
GreT food great service
OpenTable's description said "limited seasonal items" so thought they had their regular menu plus limited seasonal items. Not sure if this is a miss on OpenTable part or the restaurant's because it turned out to be a fixed menu and was told we were not able to order anything else (yet saw another party with pizza).
They didn't have certain drinks listed on the bar menu. We sat in the back room which was lit up beautifully and warm and the view is always stunning. The waiter that served us was lovely, but the prime rib was overcooked, hence dry and difficult to cut. The eggnog creme brulee was the best thing all night.
Been coming here since the place opened around 1992 and it has been excellent for all other nights except this one.
I have given this visit a two since we got our drinks dumped on us (i was totally soaked left of my shirt and sleeve) with broken glass everywhere and sat through the meal chilled from the wetness. Took staff of three 15 mins to clean things up while we stood. The server did not inform management. Eventually management came after we requested one. Management eventually through two attempt on his part compensated us for the visit. We should not have to have asked and compensation should have been forthcoming for our less then optimal experience.
I have been there multiple times and enjoyed it, but having brought my friends for a holiday brunch this was not a good experience to say the least.
This is a lovely place with good food and nice decor and very attentive service Other than being bothered by a noisy group at a large table and an over amplified singer/guitar player it was a delightful place to have brunch with a great view of the marina.
Great time and appreciated the desert recommendations.
All ways goo service and amazing food
Wonderful as usual. Good food, helpful staff, and great ambiance.
Cafe del Rey is a nice restaurant with good food and good service, but this was not our best experience there. I had the lunch special with the soup of the day and the lamb ragout: good, but not excellent. My wife had onion soup and a burger - soup reasonably good, but burger maybe not fresh - not sure, but something did not taste right to her, and to me either when she asked my opinion. Coffee and coke were fine, and our waitress was top notch. The ambience was great as always.
Server slow, forgetful incompetent. We both ordered soup to start & 1/2 later had to remind her. Restaurant was not busy at all. Then she brought just 1. The quantity of soup was ridiculously small, no flavor & was $12.50. The truffle pizza was good. Extremely disappointing meal.
I don't know what has happened to Cafe del Rey; it used to be a relatively good restaurant. Monday night, it was awful. We had some guests from New York with us, and we were embarrassed. The service was awful, the food was tasteless, and the prices were high for the value offered. We won't be back.
Quiet and beautiful place with great service, inviting menu and some very good cocktails. Perfect spot for a relaxing lunch. Not crowded, staff were professional and attentive and food tasted great.
Café del Rey is always a lovely experience. It has a wonderful view of the boats in the Marina and the food is always good and presented nicely. There was one thing on the day we went, it was a wet, cold and grey, and so the restaurant felt a little dark and dull. Lighting is so important when it comes to ambience. If I were running the restaurant, I would have put on their pretty overhead lights to make the place feel more warm and appealing. But I'll return, as Café del Rey is consistently good. Although, be warned, it can be a pricey.
Wonderful location! Had a wonderful view of the harbor. Service was amazing. I will go again.
The quiche was overcooked. Everyone else enjoyed their meal.
We have frequented Cafe del Rey many times over the past 20+ years. A few years back we thought
the menu was getting a little too esoteric. However, I read a little while back that there was new chef.
The menu options were significantly better for someone like my wife who simpler eating tastes and'
the our meals were outstanding. Our only disappoint was with with the service, it could have been
a lot better with a wait person who was more attentive.
Loved it - wonderful marina view - great food! Quick service - nice atmosphere and decoration - fire for cool days - large bar - give window table - nice wine list :)
They ran out of the lamb shank main entree on Thanksgiving day which was one of the main entrees in the prix fixe menu. Very disappointing as this was what I planned to order. I can't believe a restaurant of this caliber would do that!! They substituted with filet mignon, which was not comparable to the lamb shank. 3 stars
Cafe Del Rey is one of my favorite restaurants. The service is always top notch. Cafe Del Rey is casual elegance.
A very pleasant Thanksgiving dinner. They ran out of lamb, and offered filet mignon instead. Service was excellent, and a shot of Louis XIII cognac was a great end to an unusually decent meal.
Special thanksgiving fixed price menu was way overpriced $79 pp ++ for salad/turkey/pie, no comp toast or coffee even included . Food was nothing at a special. They were out of moderate priced wine we selected and no effort to accommodate with a similar priced alternative. I turned back the Pecan pie as the crust was stale — would need a knife to break it. Beautiful relaxed restaurant and comfortable service , but value and food quality falls very flat.
Our go to special occasion restaurant. Always a pleasure.
Maybe. It was expensive and the seating wasn’t great. I told open table that it was a special occasion didn’t feel like it.
Wonderful service, great view!
Great food and thanks for the quiet venue for the ability to talk to our guests at the table.
Cafe Del Rey is my go to restaurant for business meals and entertaining VIP guests!
Been to this place several times for family celebrations, surprise birthday party and regular lunch and dinner.
Food usually doesn’t disappoint and wine selection is just fine.
This last time was for a birthday dinner for a lady friend and because we ordered a few items on the menu, we didn’t feel ordering dessert was needed.
Unlike most restaurants, Cafe Del Rey didn’t even bother to offer a complimentary dessert for the celebrant and that was a bit disappointing.
We have visited this restaurant many times. It is one of our favorites. The food ambiance and service all all superb. And the view of the Marina is the icing on the cake.
Loved the homemade pasta with shaved black truffles!
Server told us parpadelle was light. It turned out heavy and chewy. We were given free dessert to compensate. Still the entre was not up to par.
Was my 4th time going for a dinner with friends but was a disaster. We ask for 2 different vines, they didn’t have it. The waiter offer another double of the price. We order French fries, and NO fries that day. We order a beet salad and the salad didn’t come. OMG SO disappointed. Really we won’t return.
