Really fit the occasion, on a snowy night, not far from home, substantial fare, everything worked out
Ear-shattering noise is not my idea of fine dining with friends. I keep reminding myself, "don't go back except when there is no one there." I found the steak frites as far from French Bistro as as Mumbai from Montreal. This version is definitely not steak frites but is instead "slices" of an unidentifiable beef steak that was broiled I'd guess then slathered in gelatinous bernaise. This was more Applebee's than bistro. The fries are "fresh frozen" as they say - mealy interior of cold oatmeal. The beet salad was interesting but not unusual - prettier than tasty - and jammed into chilled chevre - I had to use an axe to disassemble the so-called "timbale".
I'm tying a reminder ribbon around my finger - go early for lunch!
Better yet, go to Applebee's.
As a vegetarian, there were not many options for me to eat, but everything I did have was delicious. Good service and ambiance, I was disappointed that online when I booked it wasn’t specified that they wouldn’t be serving from their normal menu.
Good food and nice service. The also pay attention to - and accommodation- the OpenTable notes.
The valentine pre fixe, although a LOT of food per person, was totally delicious!
Although friendly service is slow and inattentive. The food is not good. We had a quiche with lots of greasy onions and no eggs in it and a flammekueche that had nothing to do with a genuine one. Food was served cold. I felt sick during 2 days after that experience!!!
Good food, ok value
The only thing negative thing I would say is, it could have been quieter. If they put thick curtains on the windows. Otherwise excellent experience.
My husband and I took advantage of restaurant week's prix fixe 3 course lunch. We both enjoyed our hearty appetizers : steak tartare & pheasant sausage. My husband had skate fish, but as a non-fish person it was not quite to his liking, his problem, not the chef's. My hangar steak was good. The desserts were very good: cheese board & crepe. Wines were fine. All in all it was a relaxing lunch with especially good appetizers & desserts. Of course our Lillets & wines brought our bill up nicely. C'est la vie.
Staff was very accommodating and great service
Delicious food. Not dissapointed
This is definitely hyped review. Food is below mediocre for the price. The mussels, the shell fish themselves are fine, but the cooking is awful. There was no taste. It was presented in a nice pot, but once the lid was up, you saw white foam splashed on the lid and the top of the pot. Friend's burger was bloody though she ordered well done. Fries are very good. Restaurant looks like a diner, though on the picture, I thought it is upscale. Won't come back.
I try to take advantage of Restaurant Week every year to try new restaurants, so I've been to quite a few. This was the best restaurant week meal I've ever had. Each course was fabulous and full sized. I went with 2 friends and we all loved our meal. We all had the flambe tart appetizer which is like a small pizza (quite filling) served on a small wooden cheese board. I had the braised short ribs and it was the best, served with a puree of celery root. Dessert was a pear tart with vanilla ice cream. Lots of calories but all delicious!
The wines are pricey but they do have a large selection. We shared a bottle of a bordeaux which was $49. This was the least expensive French red on the wine list.
Good food - pretty crowded - very loud!
It is a wonderful French informal restaurant setting with comfort food.
Great neighborhood spot with lovely bistro feel and excellent menu. Have enjoyed for dinner, lunch and a weekend brunch.
Great meal nicely served. It was a great place to eat and chat. We both enjoyed the restaurant. Food was great.
We went for restaurant week lunch and discovered this neighborhood gem...every dish was delicious and the portions were so huge we had a bring half of it home. I particularly loved the FISH dish - SKATE... made with a nice sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts and rice. ALSO my husband had the lamb couscous - which was amazing. Good wine list with many modest choices. We will definitely return.
Very good French food only complaint was that our waiter totally ignored us we were lucky the food runner Cesar did a great job otherwise we would of walked out
This is a great spot that seems to be busy all times of the day. It is tougher to get a reservation in winter without the outdoor seating. While it can be noisy, the atmosphere is lively and warm. The food is excellent and you really can't get a bad meal. While not inexpensive, you definitely get good quality for the price. Wait staff is very knowledgable and attentive without the feeling they are trying to rush you. This is not a drop in place, reservations highly recommended.
Nicely lit beautiful food
What a very pleasant atmosphere and scrumptious food. Sinful dessert. All together delightful!
Very good food in particular
Met a friend for lunch. We had asked for and were given, a quiet corner, which was lovely! We stayed quite a bit and never felt rushed. Good food, good service, a great outing!
They ran out of Tartes Flambees at 8 o'clock that night. For an "Alsatian" restaurant that's pretty unacceptable.
Very good food and decent portions
Lukewarm sausage appetizers
Overpriced steak frites
Wish it had been better.
Service was a blight on an otherwise wonderful experience. I was left waiting for water, bread, and order taking throughout the meal, and ended up having to ask other servers for these things during the meal. A shame because the food itself was delicious, but this tarred the experience somewhat. Would not recommend.
This was our first dinner here. We were seated promptly and served quickly. The food was good, although perhaps we are just not huge fans of Alsatian food, so not great! It was all competently cooked and served. The only real negative of the place was how incredibly noisy it was. We were in a corner and could still barely hear each other. Otherwise an enjoyable, if not outstanding, experience.
Compared to its sister restaurants, this one failed miserably.
