There is nothing negative you can say about this restaurant. Brunch was amazing. If you don’t want the crepe soufflé for a meal, order it for dessert. It is a must. The ambiance is French, the service was amazing and everybody’s dish was memorable. We will be back.

This is a lovely neighborhood restaurant with excellent food and wonderful staff. Unfortunately, there was a huge delay between our salads and entrée when I dined there the other night. This was very disappointing as the service is usually much better.

Usually an enjoyable experience in a French restaurant. One of my favorite places to eat in NYC. However, there is sometimes a problem with 'duck breast' which is my favorite dish. I ordered it medium rare--'closer to rare' and it came much closer to medium or well done. Ruined my birthday. The waiter apologized and gave us a desert on the house.
    Cafe d'AlsaceResponded 6 days ago
Dear Fred, Thank you for your note, and I’m truly sorry to hear that the duck wasn’t cooked to your liking—especially on your birthday. That’s understandably disappointing, and we absolutely want to get things right for you. I did speak with your server about the evening, and it's my understanding that an offer was made to remake the dish, though it was declined at the time. Please know that we’re always happy to address issues like meat temperatures right away—your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us. I really appreciate your continued support and hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back soon. If there’s ever anything I can do to make your next visit a better one, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. Warmly, Gabriel General Manager

The food was good. The frisée salad was very good. My husband ordered a Croque Madame and it was a little dry. The fries were excellent. We shared ice cream for dessert and it was delicious - the passion fruit sorbet was outstanding as well as the chocolate ice cream. Definitely the best part of the meal.

The noise level was so loud we could barely hear each other speaking. Also, my chicken on the chicken club sandwich was dry and rubbery.
    Cafe d'AlsaceResponded 6 days ago
Dear Wendy, I'm sorry to hear the noise level impacted your visit, and that the chicken in your club sandwich wasn’t as it should have been. Our brunches can get quite busy, though some parts of the restaurant are typically quieter—we’ll be sure to update your guest notes so we can seat you more comfortably in the future. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We appreciate your feedback and hope to welcome you back soon. Best, Gabriel General Manager

We’ve been regular guests at Café d’Alsace since it opened in 2006, and it has held a special place in our hearts ever since. Chef Philippe Roussel brings not only a remarkable talent but also an impressive pedigree shaped by years alongside renowned French chefs. Every dish he creates strikes the perfect balance of tradition, creativity, and heartfelt craftsmanship. You can truly taste the passion in every bite. The wine list is exceptional, with outstanding selections for every budget from around the world, and a particularly thoughtful array of French wines—including standouts from Alsace. What truly sets Café d’Alsace apart is the warmth and professionalism of the team. The service is consistently attentive and kind. Over time, our regular visits have turned into real friendships. Dining here feels less like going to a restaurant and more like coming home. For those seeking authentic cuisine, a welcoming atmosphere, and genuine hospitality, we cannot recommend Café d’Alsace highly enough. If you’re wondering what to try, here’s a non-exhaustive list of our favorite dishes: Brunch (one of—if not the—best in NYC): Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon Duo, Burger d’Alsace, Croque Madame Lunch & Dinner: Norwegian Salmon Crudo, Duck à l’Orange, Steak Tartare, Grilled Bass Antiboise, Steak au Poivre Desserts: Crêpe Soufflée, Hazelnut Chocolate Tart We’ve celebrated countless milestones here, each made unforgettable by the team’s dedication. The new private dining room at the back is a beautiful and intimate space for hosting special events—while still enjoying everything we love about Café d’Alsace. This place is more than a favorite restaurant; it has become part of our family and friends’ life story.
