Cafe d'Alsace features chef Philippe Roussel; previously at Chelsea Bar and Bistro and Montparnasse, is originally from Brittany, but he knows something about Alsace serving features such as his tarte flambée (onions and bacon), potée (cabbage soup) and choucroute made with pork or duck. Also try something off our extravagant beer menu.

The table next to us was too large for the space- people who didn’t know how to seat themselves, standing on top of other paying diners ruining our meal. Host didn’t get it- should have comped a dessert. I’ve dined here many times before- never went thru this insanity. Enjoyed my food but not the experience

The service was great and the menu has great price fixed options. The meal was average but everything else makes up for it. Great ambience too.

We spent some time in Alsace last year and looked forward to finding some authentic places in New York. Cafe d'Alsace is truly authentic. There are many Alsatian dishes on the menu. My wife and I split a tarte flambée and it was very good. Main courses were very good as well. I had a nice choucroute garnie with a good mix of sausages, smoked pork loin etc. The winner, however, was my wife's choice of Baeckeoffe, a casserole of beef, pork, lamb and potatoes. The wine list is extensive with many choices from the main regions of France (Bordeaux and Beaujolais) and a good selection of whites and five Pinot Noirs (hard to find Alsatian reds in NY) from Alsace. We liked everything about the restaurant, and we will be back.

My favorite French restaurant. Only criticism is the music. It is too loud and unsuitable for a French restaurant. Please bring back the French background music
