This is our go-to place on the upper east side to meet friends and eat outside. Very consistent service and food. They have managed the pandemic well without losing quality.
The service was IMPECCABLE! We had such a wonderful time celebrating my friends birthday. The sommelier was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, suggesting delicious wines and even brought us a port on the house for a nightcap! The food was incredible and decadent, the ambience was beautiful with the heated lamps, greenery, and partitions, and the service was outstanding. It was the perfect experience for a special occasion!
We had a lovely dinner. Food is very good. Wish there was a 4+ category. Would help if there were more options for vegetarians. I know that the menu has been kept limited.
Good food, decent drink selection.
Overall a good local option when you want a down the fairway meal.
Great set up for the post covid world. Felt very safe and protected.
Dinner outside small bites with a friend.
Place is spot clean and has a wonderful French cafe feeling.
Food is delish almost like in France :)
Great food, great service, great value. What more can you ask for?
Cafe d'Alsace never disappoints. Food and service are outstanding. Atmosphere is comfortable. It's a definite go-to.
Very comfortable and safe outdoor dining. Loved it!!
I’ve been meaning to write a review for Cafe d’Alsace for while. They deserve this five star review so much! Consistently great food, service, ambiance and now safety too. I love cafe d’alsace and I can highly recommend the steak frites as it is always a perfect meal. Also great service, professional and personable. It’s still my go to dinner place even after I moved out of the neighborhood.
Quite good. Tables inside separated by plastic barriers at wall tables.
Cafe D'Alsace is a favorite neighborhood restaurant. Service and food are always very good. Pre-Covid, I found it had become too noisy for dinner indoors, but their current outside setup along the side street is one of the best, with plenty of air circulation and powerful heaters.
I was really excited about dining at Cafe D'Alsace as we had not been out to a restaurant in months but service was too fast and a couple of dishes (we were 4) did not hit the mark. We ordered cocktails and the food arrived at the same time as the drinks ... who wants to eat a salad or a tartare with a mojito? Then the steak au poivre that we ordered medium rare was way too cooked and the chicken was dry. I know restaurants are having a hard time with Covid, so maybe that's why, but it's a shame this happened to one of the first restaurants I went too after a long long time.
Always a great place with amazing food and beverages! The service is magnificent!
Will definitely return. Tasty and perfect portion size with excellent service.
They gave done a fantastic job in,asking outside dining comfortable and safe. CUDOS for doing so.
outdoor dining was intimate and special. i hope they replace the dead dried plantings soon. superb experience. we ordered scallops without the pork belly and lamb cous cous. both meals were outstanding.
Fine Alsatian restaurant; chef has been there a long time and has a loyal following due to quite excellent cooking. Have never had a bad meal!
Very nice experience. Great food and service. Will go again.
Excellent restaurant. Eat here a lot. They've handled the pandemic the best of any place I know. Food wonderful!
This has to be one of the top-3 WORST restaurants in the world. The service was so surly that I told the waiter I would blank him, which is something I've done less than three times in my entire life. The staff constantly rushed us. The drinks were weak. The food was mediocre at best. They wouldn't even show us the desert menu based on a claim that we had a 90 minute limit on the table. That would have been more than enough if they weren't so slow. DO NOT GO!!!
So glad to have Café D'Alsace open and busy. Very festive atmosphere and good French accents.
Consistently good food with a nice wine list and friendly staff.
Great food and great outdoor seating. Wine was recommended and was delicious
Nice outdoor space, slow service, decent food, trimmed down menu (compared to their usual)
The chicken was undercooked. Waiter was not by our table during the meal to check other than one minute after plates had been delivered and before we had eaten anything. Came back after meal and did the right thing
Mauricio, server manager. Poor service. No heated lamp,no bread at the table after ordered drinks,we had to move indoors they left the door wide open there lucky they got a 20 dollar tip.
It’s always a wonderful experience at Cafe d’Alsace. The food never disappoints. The service was very good. We ate inside and I felt safe even while the pandemic continues.
1. Onion soup is a joke...broth without flavor, nor significant ‘onions’
2. The waiter was flippant!
3. I ordered the Alsace burger med rare...it was close to being ‘well done’ and the meat inferior; Five Guys burger has far superior meat and knows how to make it ‘medium
4. When asked by a waitress “how is everything” I voiced my dissatisfaction to empty ears! She walked away without comment and never returned.
5. I voiced my complaint to a waiter who was placing candles on tables and received immediate attention and satisfaction...he is a gentleman!
Lovely food and service. Very good wine suggestion and respect for social distancing
We’d definitely return!
we visited on ST PATRICK'S DAY and Justin the ciccerone had a fabulous Belgian green ale Fantom.
We had steak tartare and both fabulous onion soup gratinee and also special celery root soup with truffles and pork.
We had the fabulous dessert crepes and creme brulee!
Always fabulous service, too.
Terrific staff - wonderful food
Delicious food. Had the french onion soup and mushroom risotto. We sat outside, plexiglass between each table. Strong heating lamp. Very comfortable and felt safe re: COVID. Good service.
Definitely one of my favorite local restaurants. I find their dinner menu to be much broader than the lunch menu. As a vegetarian the was little on the lunch menu other than a tossed salad. And the dessert menu at lunch not as interesting as dinner. That said, I recommend the restaurant highly!
The food is outstanding, the menu is nicely varied. On several visits the food is definitely expertly prepared, best gnocci ever, steak perfect, omelette like no other, fish and steak cooked perfectly. After the first bite I asked them to compliment the chef. The outdoor dining was beautiful, noise level allowed enjoyable conversation. Wait staff very good, nice wine and beer selection.
Enjoyed the meal & being seated inside for the first time in a year!
As always, Cafe d'Alsace simply does not disappoint. Vivre Cafe d'Alsace!
It was a birthday and the service was choppy and non attentive
The ambiance was dark and cold
Please add heating for people who sit where the door blasts cold air
The food was delicious at many parts but definitely overly salty
We love Cafe d'Alsace and think they have done a great job with outdoor dining. This particular visit the burgers were not up to the usual terrific standard.
Love this restaurant!
