Amazing food and will definitely be coming back.
My wife and I have eaten here many times. Food was “tired”. Scallops may have been frozen. Did not have a very ocean fresh taste or texture. Mussels and sauce did not have much flavor. Appetizers did not sparkle. Food not terrible but not very good either.
Fantastic place but a little cramped.
Requested a particular table when I made the reservations when we got there at 5.15 PM, with the restaurant not even half full the table was given away to others they offered us a table behind the table we wanted, this table was the smallest table in the place and the most uncomfortable table I have ever had dinner at. Our bill for 3 close to $400.00 you would think they could have kept out requested table for us. I understand that the requests are just that a request, but the restaurant was empty when we arrived not even half full. Anyway, everything else was great and will return only not to that table ever.
Great food and service. Not oppressively expensive like other NY French restaurants yet equally satisfying. Has a $28 prefix for pre-theater!
The alsatian sections was great. I had 2 sausages with all the trimmings. Good wine and great beer selections. Waiter was great.
Classic French bistro well prepared. Cheerful and good service. Extensive wine list.
Eggs Benedict and Crab omelets were excellent.
Service very good. Kudos to Andrew@
We had a very nice meal. Entrees were good perfectly, wait staff was exceptional. We were able to get to our event on time.
first time we went to this place and would definitley go again.
duck was cooked to pefection.
portion on the mussels could have been better but the large order of crispy fries that went with it more than made up for it.
Our server was excellent. The food was great, and the atmosphere is lively and inviting. We always enjoy it here.
Completely charming for lunch, with truly authentic French food.
Always a great spot for drinks, brunch or dinner! A great menu superbly crafted by their chef to satisfy any foodies' eyes and tastes! A treasure in the Upper East Side!
New Year’s Eve celebration
Great service and great food.
We went for Christmas, and were thrilled with the place. The service was friendly, the food was delicious and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for.
The Christmas special prix fixe menu was delightful. There were many choices and it seemed you couldn’t have gone wrong with any one of them. The turkey was outstanding.
Such a great place for a holiday meal! Great service
Entry service/seating was gracious, and we were seated next to the window, as requested. We were delighted with the tuna tartare and the foie gras (delicieux). My husband was less pleased with the halibut, small and dry with a paucity of sauce. Also, that's what he had there Christmas Eve 2018. How about branzino, sea bass or Dover sole for a change? [Some of your guests always choose fish.]. Conversely, I who always order something different thoroughly enjoyed the sea scallops (ravissants). Both of us found the Pinot Grigio a pleasant accompaniment and our desserts, gateau and creme brûlée a fitting conclusion. We would have been happier with faster delivery of the wine so as to enjoy it with more of the first course. The evening would have been all the more festive if I had been served the brandy Alexander I had requested. Clearly neither the sommelier nor the bartender was familiar with this wonderful winter drink. I guess we'll learn how to make it at home. All in all, we were pleased with the evening. Thank you!
Met a friend for lunch and it had been a while
Since I ate there. Forgot how good it was and how much I liked it. We both did!!
Always a great time at this favorite neighborhood spot! Great service, amazing food, and the most delicious dirty martinis in the Upper East Side!
Love everything about this place. If you’re after your typical good quality French bistro, come here. Every dish I tried was beyond amazing and the staff treated us so well. Will be back, great night out here!
Service was a little erratic, but not off-putting by any means. I just tend to expect superior service after many previous visits; I am a longtime patron. The meal was otherwise excellent. I will return again without question.
Server sort of disappeared and we ordered dessert from someone different but the food was great, hopping on a Sat night. Glad to have returned after many years away. A great neighborhood spot.
Our server was wonderful and we were allowed to have a leisurely meal.
The soup of the day was a pea soup without cream. It was flavored with bacon and was very satisfying. The sea bass was grilled and the herbs that were used created a flavorful crust and moist fish. Halved small potatoes, carrots and snow peas accompanied the filet.
Small popovers were brought to the table before the entree.
Our party of six were very happy with whatever was ordered.
We both had different varieties of sausages and were very pleased with the results. They were quite tasty, and there was a satisfying choice of types of sausage. The accompanying side dishes were varied and delicious: spaetzle, mashed potatoes, and sauerkraut. The service was brisk and friendly, and there was an adequate choice of wines along with a very large list of beers. In sum,. A very satisfying experience.
Café D’Alsace is always a pleasure. Wonderful for a date or celebration. Always great food and ambiance. The prix fixe is a great value and desserts are worth it. They also know their alcohol and are a pleasure to talk to about it.
Delicious traditional French dinning
Our third visit to this wonderful restaurant. Service, food , and value are all exceptional. Best pork chop I've ever had. The steak tartar is excellent and to my tastes even better than the 21 Club. We look forward to dining here again.
Always good food and service. Very noisy. When I have been at the restaurant for dinner it's too dark.
Outstanding Thanksgiving menu and service
Wonderful price fixed Thanksgiving menu selections. Desserts were special.
This place has become a personal favorite for us. We always have a great meal and really love the entire staff and how attentive and warm they treat us every time. Tonight we came for a late dinner and we were treated to delicious cocktails , great appetizers and entrees. I lived my duck duo a l’orange! The Sancerre pairing was perfect and the passion fruit soufflé was heaven! We will be back again for more!
This is a neighborhood favorite for us and we like taking out of town visitors there because the food is authentic Alsatian food, with a lively and unpretentious atmosphere.
The atmosphere is warm and you feel as if you are eating in a small European town. The food is excellent. The onion soup and mussels are particularly delicious. The desserts are fabulous. This is truly a neighborhood gem.
Good service at the table and at reception. Drinks brought promptly and food was good - quiche was reheated and therefore a bit messy on the plate but tasty with a good salad dressing. Good coffee; could have served more bread and some butter at the start. Good place for lunch but way too noisy for dinner. Nice outdoor seating in season.
I hated my dinner and did not eat it. Way way too salty and I like salt. Place was too noisy to have a decent conversation.
Cafe D’Alsace is our go-to for any type of non-everyday meal. Beautiful European feeling, great service, food is always fabulous and fresh. My mom and I were floored by the portions and deliciousness of our 3-course prix fixe. When I say the noise is moderate I mean that even on a Tuesday night it was hopping - not too loud. Perfect for celebrations, date night, dinner with friends, brunch. We’ve been fans for years.
Enjoyable dinner at a local venue.
Great food, great service. I would highly recommend Cafe d'Alsace!!
