A great place for a quiet Sunday night dinner, food was good, the pork chop was well prepared, moist and delicious, the duck could have been cooked less, asked for medium rare, came out well done, I love the Alsace region in France and the menu did not disappoint.
Great food, attentive service. Prices not cheap but reasonable- good sized portions provided good value. All food was expertly prepared with many great flavors and seasonings. Right down to the salad dressing. Price fixe $50 dinner is a bargain, especially because they do not limit it to the few cheaper items.
Everything was delicious. We will be back.
The food is delicious. The menu is interesting. You always get a great meal. It’s just a little pricey.
We ate outdoors and both had the delicious and filling trout special. Hot, tasty with buttery saffron rice and fresh vegetables. Shared Dessert was ice cream, fresh fruit and Cookie Crumble (enough for two). PLUS: it was close to 10:00 pm when we noticed a few mice scurrying around our outdoor table and people's feet. We Were Not Happy About That, And We Never Saw That Before On Our Many Visits Here!
I have eaten here about 12 times and the food almost never disappoints. Once in a while, the entrees get a little "heavy handed" with one flavoring (like salt), but otherwise the food has been very good. Christmas is a fun time to go because the place is well decorated.
The entire experience was outstanding.
service was off even though restaurant was half empty
Large wine selection & delicious specials. Service was a little slow, but it made for a nice long dinner and time to catch up with friends. Everything we ordered was delicious- recommend the scallops & grilled octopus.
We were in NY city to spend the day at the NY MET and found this restaurant on Open Table. What an amazing find! It was the perfect dinner to finish a wonderful day. The bread is amazing! We had the three course meals paired with an outstanding French Chardonnay. Our favorite were the sea scallops. Deserts were the perfect way to finish the evening off. Service was exceptional. Definitely will make trips back!
We had been regulars at Cafe d'Alsace for a long time, and we stopped going after a few unpleasant encounters with a very snooty and unpleasant host. We decided to go back and had a very pleasant experience. Host was not there, and we hope he's gone for good. Now, if only they would bring back the puff pastry with the goat cheese appetizer....
Cafe D'Alsace is our favorite restaurant in the UES. We love to take our friends there, and we are always treated like ROYALTY.
Our waitress was great , the sommelier was pushy and was not listening to us about the wine we
Tarte Flambée was more like a flatbread and nothing resembling what one would find in Alsace-Lorraine, very disappointing.
Wine list overpriced. Sancerre wine for $240?
Food, ambiance and service were superb! Was searching for an authentic French brasserie and this hit the mark! Will be back for sure!
One of our favorite restaurants in NYC. They just get it right!
Food and service were great. Vibe is French bistrot, casual, fun, solid restaurant.
Great time. As always!
Our first visit to this neighborhood gem and we will return for sure. The atmosphere, service and food were very good. (Just as a point of reference, we reserve "outstanding" for restaurants like 11 Madison Park, Per Se, etc.) A bit pricey on our budget for a neighborhood restaurant so we will save it for future special occasions or when friends visit and we want to take them to a nice local UES restaurant.
A frequent place for meals. Brunch has become a bit wearisome as the food comes out almost before you finished placing the order. Can get very loud inside. We ate outside recently for dinner and all of a sudden started smelling pot. A lot of it. I had to walk away for a while to breathe. The server said it's a nightly thing from their neighbours. That is really sad. I hope they can do something about it as not everyone wants to smell that. Cheese selection is amazing as ever and friends love the sausages. Food is v. good.
best to make a reservation because you never know if it will be packed, great food + service, but took a long time to get check
We had such a lovely meal at Cafe D’Alcase. The wait staff was attentive, and our meals were delicious. An, added bonus for our next visit is that they put the Lamb Burger back on the menu. I can't wait.
Really awesome food and service. Highly recommend
The $50 prix fixe price could be considered pricey, but the 3 courses were each plentiful and excellent. Service was prompt and the waiter was there when we needed something. Tables nearby (inside) with young children made the noise level a bit high, but once they left, it was easier to carry on a conversation. All in all, this restaurant gets high marks for food quality, service and ambience.
Wonderful food and drink in a convivial atmosphere!
This place is wonderful. The service is prompt and accurate. The food is great and authentic. Everything is really on point.
we hosted some friends from faraway and are glad that we chose the Cafe d'Alsace for dinner. everything was perfect from our dinners (a la carte and prix fixe to the attentive but not overbearing service. as we had an early seating and it was Friday night it was most heartening to not feel pressured to vacate our table as soon as we paid - all in all a great night and we will be back
Great food. Great people. Great atmosphere. Favorite place to be in the Upper East Side.
I took my husband for a surprise date night. The food was incredible and for the price everyone should be making this their go to spot. The only issue I had was in my reservation I specifically listed the reason for the dinning experience and that we had to be gone by 7pm to make our show, another surprise for the evening. Unfortunately my waitress seemed unaware of this detail and we barely made the curtain call. But we will definitely be back!
Café d'Alsace is a great neighborhood place for lunch. The menu has a nice variety and our meals were delicious. Not too crowded, good service, relaxed and civilized lunch.
One of my favorite places to eat in NYC! Never disappoints. The hangar steak with bone marrow is amazing and so flavorful. Be sure to order the apple tart to end your meal.
It’s rare that you go to a restaurant where every single dish is delicious and tasty. That was our experience at café de Alsace ....really enjoyed the menu particularly the sweet breads which were done to perfection. It’s a little pricey, but you can be guaranteed a great meal and the ambience is perfect.
I had never been to this restaurant before after living in the area for a year so my friend dragged me along with her. I feel so bad for not going sooner!! The hostess was so welcoming and gracious. My server was patient and helpful as I had no idea what to order. I’m a sucker for a burger so I went with that and it was phenomenal. Also, the Hazelnut Gateau dessert...so delicious. Will be returning very soon to try the rest of the menu!
I recently moved from London to UES.
Cafe D’alsace Is my favorite place locally.
I’ve always had great food and delicious drinks, cocktails and wine.
This is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city. The food is great and the staff is on top of everything from filling my coffee cup to order accuracy. Fantastic service and ambience.
Always a popular mainstay on our neighborhood dinning list! Food is always good, and I mean always !
We celebrated our 26th. Anniversary there. The food and service was outstanding. We both felt that the staff went above and beyond in helping us celebrate our special day. We WILL be going back and telling friends.
Our waiter was the best!!
Excellent food as always. We ordered the bone marrow, foie gras, tart flambé and charcuterie as appetizers and all delicious. Duck was fantastic, and the grilled sausages are all very tasty. Would recommend as a great meal at great value near the museums
