Awesome food as always. Love this lil gem. Wish my booking and show up was honoured by opentable...
I met an old friend I don't see very often here for lunch, and it was a perfect place for a rendezvous! We could hear each other to catch up, the service was attentive but not intrusive,
and the food and wine were delicious.
Cafe Claude is one of our favorite places in San Francisco. On this visit my wife and I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. The staff took very good care of us and made the night special.
I've been to café claude several times before and they have all been good meals. This time I got the steak frites and the cut of beef was not good. My co-worker got the exact same thing and she agreed that the cut of meat was not very good and it was not prepared very well. We both ordered medium rare. The steak was extremely hard to cut both with and against the grain, it wasn't particularly flavorful even though it was drenched in sauce. It is hard to describe how the meat was, it wasn't exactly tough, but it was a bit sinewy if that makes any sense. At $29 plus tax and tip, I feel like it was a horrible value. I won't be returning any time soon.
The bread and butter were very good as was the crème brule. The steak was just disappointing.
Excellent wine and food and not too loud even with the live music. A great time was had by all five of us!
Over all the food was good. Some misses, and some solid staples. Sadly I’ve had better french bread in Texas, and that’s not saying much. The meals are old school Parisian fare, and that’s the point. Great atmosphere, especially with the jazz band providing background music. SF Classic.
Café Claude is a great restaurant, however the owner should know that guests are kept waiting for an hour. With very little communication or caring. There was no order in seating, parties were seated even if not complete. Restaurant could turn tables much quicker.
Once the server Emanuelle took over , everything went smooth, he was wet attentive and apologetic, food was excellent.
This was one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been too food was appauling
Birthday - We were seated 45 min late but there was a convention in town so we understand they were doing their best.
I had the coq au vin which was delicious, but one of the pieces was a little undercooked near the bone. I also ordered the apple tart for dessert but a small chocolate soufflé was brought instead. They were gracious about the mistake & comped the dessert. The soufflé was excellent though! Loved the vibe in the outdoor seating & had an after dinner drink at the bar - a fun vibe as well. Will definitely go again when next in San Francisco!
