Fabulous food! Seemed like we were back in Paris. Emmanuel was a real professional!
Nice service. Food was average. Not bad but nothing to rave about.
Never had eaten there before. Really nice room, service, authentic french feel, and nice, enjoyable but not extraordinary food. No extraordinary food prep. No high end ingredients. Pricier than it should have been. One salad, one small plate (quiche), one entree (roast chicken) and one dessert and with a half carafe of wine and a couple of cocktails, it was $170 incl tip. Unnecessary.
We liked the restaurant and would probably return. However, it wasn't high end cuisine and we just believed a meal like that ought to be available with a bit more value.
Our server was exceptional attentive and helpful! I love sitting inside the restaurant back in the dark room. It makes me feel like I'm in Paris! The duck confit is the best I've found in The City!
I have dined here many times before. This time, it was a lot busier. I sat at the bar. There was one bartender serving everyone. My entree took way too long, and I had to leave. He also did the “avoid eye contact” trick when I tried to get his attention for a glass of wine. Although he was truly busy, he decided it was more important to talk wine with two other customers who were ordering bottles of wine. I suppose the tip from them was more valuable than providing me good customer service.
We had a great time with wonderful service and amazing food
The quiche was generous and excellent as was the accompanying salad. Good wine pour also.
My guests were quite late and they accommodated us with little fanfare which I know is challenging for restaurants and was appreciated. The restaurant holds lots of tables but arrangement makes conversation possible. Particularly nice are small booths.
Great food and service. Did not enjoy the Afro pop music. Should have jazz. Sinatra or Nat King Cole 😜
A charming romantic restaurant located off a small alley-perfect seating outside weather permitting! The Quiche Lorraine was simply delicious! Great wine selection and the desserts were decadent. We'll definitely come back!
The meal was superb as always and Jennifer made the dining experience very pleasant.
I love this restaurant.
I have been to CC many times, and only on this visit did I find the service to be lacking. Waiter seemed to be off his dot throughout. He was pleasant, though not particularly attentive. His colleagues covered for him. With drinks and dessert it's an expensive lunch, by most standards; on this occasion I felt...underwhelmed.
We loved it! Food was delicious and authentic. Service was lovely attentive. Great place to have a birthday or anniversary celebration, or just to meet friends.
I mad my guest had a wonderful dinning experience. As usual great food, cocktails and atmosphere. The restaurant was busy, but not noisy or disorganized. In 20+ years I’ve never been disappointed. That you Cafe Claude.
Our server was grumpy and not attentive. We sat at the table for at least 15 minutes before he approached. It is a small restaurant and there were empty seats. The cheese board was lovely. Go for a drink and cheese.
A true CLASSIC—I've been going to Cafe Claude for over a decade, and the food and quality of service is authentic French in every way—it's the way to take a Parisian vacation for a few hours without going to SFO! Steak frites, beef tartare, coq au vin, mussels in saffron sauce—the food is impeccably prepared in the class French way, with fresh ingredients and gorgeous presentation. You cannot miss the chocolate mousse for dessert! And at night, a wonderfully relaxed jazz bar with live music. I will continue to come back for the next 10 years, as well.
I have been going to Cafe Claude for several years. I have always loved the food and the service. I usually go during the day for lunch, this time was Saturday dinner. The waitress was very busy, I think she may have been only 1 of 2 servicing the whole restaurant. We had to ask twice for our drinks, one was for a glass of wine and the other was for water. The food took an exceptionally long time to come to our table. It was a disappointing experience, but I think maybe just an off night.
This was our first time dining here for an early Saturday evening meal. We were seated right away at an indoor table. We decided on cocktails asked for water and reviewed the menu. Our order was taken, the drinks came (no water though). Our waitress returned to our table stating our order was "lost" or "forgotten". So she wrote it down this time. Our apéritifs were the charcuterie plate and the foie gras, we indicated that we would share these items and then ordered our entrees the Roasted Duck and the Coq au vin. The apéritifs came with no means to share (we used the bread plates) and we asked for the wine list. The foie gras was tasty, the charcuterie was ok, nothing spectacular. We waited and asked for the wine list three times from our waitress, mind you, she came by our table and asked at these three times, "is there anything I can get you"? Once we finally got the wine list and ordered, I asked to keep the wine list at our table. She seemed to understand but then 2 minutes later as I was talking to my husband, she grabs it and walks away... I am genuinely thinking at this point, she is truly forgetful as we still do not have any water for our table either. Also, it does not appear to be very busy in the section we were seated in, 2-3 tables were seated. The entrees come, both are overcooked. Poultry is tricky. We still need our wine and water. No one is around to assist. We are about half way through eating our meals when I have a chance to ask our waitress about the wine. Another 5 minutes pass, we see the bartender pouring two glasses of wine, maybe they are ours? Nope. We then ask one of the table attendees for water and that we are waiting on our wine. We then get delivered two glasses of red. I ask which is which, and the person delivering them doesn't have a clue. Finally the manager(?) comes by and apologizes and comps the wine. It was a disappointing meal. The food was marginal and the service definitely needs improvement.
Our waiter was fantastic, the jazz trio was phenomenal and the wine and food were so good.
We've been coming to Cafe Claude for many, many years and have never been disappointed. Lunch, dinner, drink at the bar, late afternoon snack...always perfect. Ambiance is lovely, wait staff is wonderful and attentive and the food is always excellent. They sometimes have live music on the weekends - which can make it a bit loud but adds to the atmosphere. Best French onion soup I've ever had.
One of my favorite restaurants in the City
One of my closest friends was in town and took me out for my birthday. We both love Cafe Claude, so there was no question where we were going.
As usual everything was great. Service, food, cocktails, atmosphere. All ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Duck confit was over cooked. They made another one but still not succulent. Very dry.
Delicious food, friendly service, and great live music. Will definitely come again!
Food a bit formulaic. Bit over priced. Very good service.
Cafe Claude is a delightful sort of hidden spot, which is actually very convenient to downtown.
It is cozy and charming, quite a French vibe. The food is very good. The pomme frites are outstanding. A lovely place to meet friends, a date, or celebrate a special occasion. The staff is friendly and professional. Tables are beautifully set.
Never disappoints. We are pre-theater lunch faithfuls.
Always enjoy the food, ambience and great service!
We have been eating at Cafe Claude for several years, and have never been disappointed. Try to sit in the "front room" if possible, we think it is more comfortable. Excellent food, good service, interesting wine choices. Cafe Claude definitely reminds us of some small restaurants we have visited in France.
For a late lunch when restaurant is not busy, wIt staff needs to pay better attention to guests.
Had coq au vin and a side of haricot verts. The chicken sauce was flavorful, dark and rich, but the chicken was so over cooked it was virtually inedible. My wife had this same dish for dinner a few months back and didn’t like it but I think fat she might be grading too hard. No. It was awful. The green beans conversely were undercooked with too much bite. Really disappointing.
Romantic. Yummy food. Good music. Sat at bar both nights for close up views of jazz trio & friendly conversation ether bar tender
The butternut squash soup was their special and it was superb. We also tried the steak frites and coq au vin which were delicious. I highly recommend the caramel apple dessert. It had a flaky crust and was divine. Our service was excellent and the waiters were very friendly.
New waitress in training so maybe my experience wasn’t indicative of a normal day.
Food and service are five stars. Only minus one star for being cold inside and too dark.
Good solid Italian food in a neighborhood bistro. One of the better in 'little italy'.
As usual it was amazing. I bring family and friends and I’m never disappointed. It’s one of the few things in life I can count on. Thank you everyone at Cafe Claude.
We dined at Café Claude for years and very happy with the foods and their services. However, last time was not as we expected. Besides the Moules frites was excellent as usual, the Confit de Canard was overcooked, while the Coq au Vin was undercooked and salty.
They offered to replace the Coq au Vin plate with a new one. Unfortunately, my appetite was gone. I hope next time, we'll have better luck with Café Claude.
As always the service was superb and the food was excellent! I have been to Café Claude at least 6 times in the last year and always have a great dining experience.
Cozy atmosphere, great food, cocktails, wine, and service in a unassuming location free from pretension. Sit down, relax, unwind, and enjoy a great experience.
Quiet restaurant at 3:00 PM! Service was very attentive, the food reasonably priced for SF (restaurants should absorb the SF mandates-very annoying!) Croque monsieur was excellent, chocolate mouse sublime and frites were very authentic French. Bavette steak was a disappointment, very tough and came raw despite a request for medium rare.
I have eaten at Claude's many times and it was fine. This time, the fries were cooked in dirty oil, two attempts at making a cappuccino failed and I was given a credit. The young lady that served us had just started that day and did a good job. Very disappointing experience.
