The food was fantastic and very reasonably priced, the attention in the other hand wasn’t that’s good, our server was spectacular and manage to take several tables at the time so she ended up saving the night but the gentleman tending the host stand was rude and not only with us but with other costumer as if he didn’t wanna be there, to the point of almost fighting another guest, I’ll be back h hoping this incidents don’t repeat.
Cafe Citron was a delightful experience altogether. My wife and I enjoyed a very well prepared and well served Latin meal (chicken stew for her, garlic shrimp for me) in a pleasant and interesting restaurant by the bar. Then danced the night away downstairs, with a superb salsa instructor on hand to keep the party going. At least one other couple were as old as we (or almost), and the crowd overall was diverse, friendly, and happy. We would go back again in a minute. Muy bien, Citron!!
Very, very noisy - it's a salsa bar / night club so no surprise really. It's a fun place just don't expect to do any talking! Music is fun, lively (and friendly) crowd. Awesome Mojitos. Caipirinhas, ceviche and guacomole-
Went here to watch WC. last minute reservation and had no problems getting a seat. Service was excellent considering that it was packed. I loved the food..had the pork with r&b tacos and empanadas. Drinks were onthe sugary side.
Loved it here, especially during the Italy-England World Cup game, what a delight !! Super great and attentive staff, fantastic hostess and owners. They truly care about their patrons, what a great Washington, DC experience !!
Energetic, vibrant, loud, but classy. Everything that I like in a restaurant. Hot, Hot, Hot
We were a little disappointed because the guacamole wasn't as exceptional as it had been on our last visit. The waitress suggested that a lack of ripe tomatoes was the cause. We got a variety of starters -- empanadas, ceviche, coconut shrimp -- and many drinks. Our first order of beef empanadas was chicken, as the second order confirmed. The music was loud and crowd energetic.
Loved the Vday preset menu, great value. Also enjoyed the salsa dancing lessons. Food was delicious!
Made the mistake of going here for Valentine's day. There is no Valet, among other things that is advertised. They need to spend a few dollars on accomondations, if you go bring your own chairs and food. The dancing is in the basement; bring a flashlight so you can see in the dungeon. Avoid this place!
Received a warm welcome on a very cold night. My girlfriend got the garlic shrimp and coconut-coated chicken. I got the Tex-Mex burritos, which came with black beans and rice. We got a special side dish: French-fried potatoes with garlic and cilantro. Everything was delicious and the servings so generous that she took good portions of both her appetizers home while I couldn't finish the beans and rice. Our waiter was very friendly and accomodating, bringing us a couple portions of habernaro pepper sauce to spice up our dishes. Bar service was a little slow, but the drinks were worth the wait. The spicy margarita I started with was so good that she got it for her second drink, after starting with a mango martini. We will return.
Our group of 4 was ready for a fun dinner. The drinks were good (and a steal at happy hour prices). However, service was slow when the restaurant was not very busy. And the food was OK to bad. The plantain appetizer is good, but stay away from the empanadas (lead weights). Requests to make something spicy or put cheese on the side were ignored, and our server disappeared for long periods of time.
