This is a gem in the MetLife Building. We went during Restaurant Week. The food was great, presented in a lovely way, and the wait staff was terrific. The restaurant is accessible. Totally recommend and will return!
Nice menu, well executed, and good service. Although the noise level didn't seem excessive, we had some trouble hearing our friends.
The Cafe has seemed to slip in food quality of late. The chicken in my "chop chop salad" was undercooked (always a health and culinary no-no), rubbery and seemed old. It made me leery of one of my favorite lunch dishes there. Maybe the chef is on vacation, maybe standards have fallen? Not sure. Still like the place, but maybe avoiding this dish for a while. My guest had duck confit that he raved about, so hopefully this was an aberration.
Kitchen must taste before offering a dish ! My grilled trout from the prix fixe menu was smothered in an acidic sauce (vinegar?) so one could not taste it was fish. Been to Cafe Centro several times, this time with an out of town guest (thankfully she did not have the trout dish). This was the worst visit for me.
Cafe Centro is always a good dining experience plus the location makes it a home run!
Consistent, excellent food and service. Extremely convenient for business meetings in midtown.
Food was incredible with extraordinary service. A+
This is my go to restaurant for every occassion. Highly recommend it to all.
Excellent food and service. I eat here all the time. I always celebrate Restaurant week and my birthday there.
It’s my go-to for lunch and breakfast given location and predictability. It’s not cheap and service is just ok, but it’s definitely convenient.
Business lunch for two people was $73.00 before tip. It was two salads (caesar and lobster), a Diet Coke and a pot of hot tea. $39 for 4 small pieces of lobster on a bowl of lettuce two carrot curls, radishes and three or four cherry tomatoes is quite high. The server did not indicate the price when she told us the specials. Even as a business expense that will be reimbursed by the company, this is not good value.
ALWAYS LOVE THIS PLACE.. NICE, FABULOUS FOOD, GREAT WINE. HAVEN'T BEEN DISAPPOINTED AND BEEN COMING FOR YEARS. AMBIENCE IS REALLY NICE - AND BEST PART IN THE WINTER IS THE FIREPLACE.
I love this place. The bread is fantastic and the chopped salad I had was awesome. Every time I am in NYC I go
food is ok... not really good.. and a little expensive
Excellent dinner. French restaurant week. Tomato gazpacho soup wasn't very good.
Great French Restaurant Week menu. Delicious gazpacho, duck, cod.
Cafe Centro has become my gauge for what
Overall very good not super
Service was 4-4.5
Excellent restaurant, good value and the location is in the center of the universe.
I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Great location and pleasant atmosphere. We had a good table but I can see where a tab le in the middle would be very noisy. Waiter was very professional and we were served efficiently and pleasantly.
Perfect for our lunch with dear friends. The staff allowed us to linger and talk as long as we wanted. Lunch was very fresh and was served quickly.
There was a special celebrate France menu. I couldn't eat any of the appetizers and asked to substitute a mixed salad. Our server went to ask mgmt who said no. Ultra disappointing. So i ordered off regular menu and got the $14 mixed salad. What a joke a few greens and a few pcs of tomato, 2 slivers of carrot and some beets. Everything else was fine - salmon, chicken and duck all good.
Excellent menu. Fresh Ingredients. Way too attentive a server
Had lunch outside on a beautiful day. The lobster sandwich was very good, no mayonnaise, just large portions pieces of lobster.
This was the perfect meeting spot for people coming from Brooklyn and Westchester, with good food, service and ambience.
The service is always exceptional and the food is always tasteful. Wonderful location for a business or social meal.
Cafe Centro is very centrally located, offers delicious food, and a good ambiance.
Extremely slow service, although restaurant was fairly empty. We waited to order, and then about half hour to get main course.
Very nice place, service and food were at their usual excellence. Easy to get to -- IN GCT. Kind of competing with a private party so a bit perky.
Very pleasant place for business lunch. Prefix is fun option
It's one of the best places for lunch around. While a bit noisy, everything else is excellent.
I eat at this restaurant once a month and the food is always fantastic. Both me and my client ordered the chicken chop salad. This time was unusual and the salad was soggy and warm. What made an undesirable meal worse, when I told the waiter, in a kind and matter-of-fact tone, he began to argue with me in front of my client. He told me that is was fresh and i must be mistaken. Not cool.
Wonderful lunch! Everything was perfect! Thanks so much!
Server, Bessa, was amazing! Great spot and so convenient!
Really attentive and gracious wait staff who let us linger a long while (there were lots of empty tables at this point) over a late lunch. There was a salad dresing so weirdly sweet it was inedible, and the salad was whisked away and replaced immediately. Great bistro menu, great location, good for lunch meetings, and you just have to accept that the not-low check for the meal reflects the location as well as the excellent food.
I have been going to Cafe Centro for 20 years. My staple there has been the Chicken Chop Chop Salad. Unfortunately, after many years, they seem to have changed the salad, which is now much more cabbage than it used to be, shredded as opposed to chopped, and with a dressing that doesn't compare to what they used to use. Service is still excellent - very fast.
I enjoy your restaurant and often schedule business lunches as the service and food is very good. At this past lunch, I had to return my salmon 3 times-- first time it was overcooked and the waiter even noticed and offered to remake-- and the next two times, the salmon was RAW! Not cooked at all. I ended up watching my colleagues eat while I waited only to have to rush and eat a mediocre lunch delivered late. I wanted to let you know as this has never happened before. I will try you again as I'm sure this was not a typical experience.
Food good. Service was indifferent. Had to repeatedly look for waiter. He was disappointed when we decided not to have a starter.
Way too expensive. I wish they will reconsider their prices and/or the menu to ensure there are some lower priced options. I had a salad and a glass of Prosecco. It cost $53 dollars - think about that! This is highway robbery.
The filet was amazing. The onion soup and coq au vin had under developed flavors but were good. The oysters were rather small. The desserts were stars of the meal. The portions were generous too although I would have liked smaller portions with a bigger flavor punch. Exceptional bar, every cocktail was superb. I can’t glow enough about the service, however. Both the waiter and the management team obvious had a real desire to make the evening special, even providing a complimentary appetizer of lobster risotto.
