Not as good as it used to be. Convenient for business lunch. Noise level worse than before.
Excellent French restaurant with attentive service. The duck 2 ways was delicious, served as duck breast and a confit.
Food and service quite good, understated and highly competent.
Very noisy and slow service
Great place for a business breakfast. Attentive service. Food came out after a very long wait. Loud loud loud. Very light with big windows.
This is one of my favorite spots. It never disappoints.
The omelets were overcooked and the mushrooms were reconstituted rather than fresh.
The complimentary cookie plate was tasty.
Comfortable seating, quality food. Top notch bread and butter. Desserts are a particular strong point. However the wine list is limited in variety and a bit overpriced.
Great location to meet friends from all parts of the city. Varied menu. Good salads. Great burger. Pretty space. Comfortable seating.
We enjoy eating in this lovely restaurant. The surroundings are comfortable and you are not rushed.
Love Centros quiet corner of GCT. Easy to come in on Metro North, do fine dining, and scoot out.
The staff is stellar. Food excellent.
Cafe Centro is terrific and very very accessible and convenient for those arriving NYC at or leaving NYC from Grand Central Terminal. It is otherwise conveniently located to subway and other transportation hubs and well-located in mid-town. The food is excellent (if a bit pricey). The only real downside is it is sooooooo noisy when fully or even half-occupied that it is not fun to be in and to have a personal conversation. It would not be an appropriate venue for a business conversation.
A++ breakfast spot with WONDERFUL service. Bright and comfortable. Convenient location in Met life building outside of Grand Central
Had a tuna Niçoise salad with old romaine lettuce. Not very good gel I got leftover food from the lunch rush since we ate at 1:30. Did not feel it was prepared fresh
Excellent overall, three course lunch menu was spot on.
Good place for dinner.
Good place for lunch - convenient. They honor reservations and at lunch they are very necessary.
A bit noisy at lunch time.
Food is good. Service is good. Waitstaff are attendant.
Easy place for pre-theatre dinner if you are coming into Grand Central Terminal. And reliable.
Love the truffle fries. The dessert is a bit disappointed but the appetizers and entree were good!
The food is always good here. At dinner it is much nicer as the noise level is livable. Service is attentive and the management runs a good place.
No vegetarian or vegan options
Noise level is high for a business conversation.
Pleasant atmosphere and staff.
Excellent service. Enjoyed NYC restaurant week and had a nice quiet corner of the restuarant.
Excellent food and service. Terrific bread. Very noisy at lunch but ok in the evening, especially after 7 PM.
The food was delicious and nicely presented. My friend and I shared one of the best egg-white omelets I have ever had. The tuna nicoise was much better than most. The ingredients were very fresh.
Service was good and thoughtful. I look forward to going here again nutthe prices for lunch are a bit high.
If your looking for a good meal, you must try! The crab cakes are one of the best in the city, the beet salad, bread and the assorted cookie tray for dessert are a must!
Food and service were, as usual, great. I’m puzzled why no Open Table dining points, though!
We were seated in a comfortable booth near the kitchen. The kitchen has glass walls, and I enjoy seeing food preparation, so it was perfect. The waiter was very helpful and attentive, answering questions and making recommendations. We split the salmon tartare; the seasoning was on point - fresh and bright. My friend had the steak tartare, and I had the beef bourguignon. We were both very happy with our choices. We split a carrot cake for dessert. I am not a huge carrot cake person, but this was moist and had the perfect spice combination. I would definitely return!
Very enjoyable. So convenient to Grand Central. Clean comfortable.
I hadn't been to this restaurant for many years because my office moved out of the neighborhood. It did not deteriorate. It has an excellent choice for lunch, good service, and it is worth what they charge. I recommend it.
Once again, Café Centro proverbially knocked the ball out of the park. I ate dinner with two friends who were visiting NYC (one of them for the first time) for their fifteenth anniversary. Café Centro once again demonstrated that you can get top notch food at a reasonable price in mid-town Manhattan.
Cafe Centro is consistently good in terms of food and service. I would highly recommend it!
Really excellent food, consistently and beautifully prepared. Fresh ingredients and thoughtful, respectful, not overly-creative or flashy recipes and presentation. Service is almost always impeccable. Downside is the very noisy atmosphere, which can be both distracting and a hurdle to enjoyment of the meal and company.
Went for French restaurant week, hadn’t been in a few years. Food was amazing almost too much. Wine was delicious as well, would definitely recommend and come back.
Excellent French restaurant in the MetLife Building. Attentive service. Nice selection of wine by the glass or bottle.
As usual, the food was excellent and service optimum. thanks
Restaurant is excellent but pricey. I had the salmon as my main course — $30. I initially thought they brought the appetizer portion to me. While it was delicious, I walked out hungry.
Lovely experience. Warm, friendly waiter who gave us plenty of space to talk and catch up, then took excellent care of us. The menu for French Restaurant Week was great. Our dinner was delicious.
The prix fixe lunch offered good food at great value. The sardine trains were wonderful and the salon main course was fresh and tasty.
Very good food, wine, and professional service are the key reasons that Cafe Centro is one of our top tier choices for lunch in NYC. But what puts them over the top is the people. Diane, who never fails to remember us and greet us with a big smile. Raiza, out server, who took such good care of us this past visit. A professional place, that is happy to see you. Not a bad combination at all!
I took my mentee out for a special end of year lunch, and everything was perfect! The restaurant is beautiful, and our waitress was super nice. The food was delicious - she loved the fresh baguette and butter (such good butter!) that comes to the table, and her salmon looked great. I loved the mussels I ordered - it seemed to be the never ending pot with what felt like 100 mussels in there! Great value and very quality food.
I just went for breakfast . The omelet was good. WOuld have been very good but not soft as I asked. They didnt bring butter for toast . But the service was nice . The ambiance simple but nice. I really went there because I had a business meeting and it was convenient to the
subway in grand central
Perfect for private discussions. High ceilings and tables set apart. Food selection limited but good. Steak and soup very good. Service good. Location easy to get to from anywhere. Price is on the higher side.
