Café Centro Ratings and Reviews
While the menu is a bit pricey, the portions are a good size and well prepared. The prix fix menu basically gave you a free desert. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Kudos to the manager for checking on us several times and stopping by to chat.
Love this restaurant. The service is excellent. Everything was delicious - the best crab cakes. The host was very patient and accommodating in helping us choose the perfect wine for our dinner. Great table near the fireplace. Many thanks for a wonderful dining experience
Had a business lunch here. It is a very big and busy restaurant, a little noisy and attracts a professional crowd at lunch. However, the food was very good, the service was attentive, the ambiance was nice and the location, next to grand central station, can't be beat. I will have lunch here again
Cafe Centro always delivers! We were 2 couples catching up at dinner. Cafe Centro honored our special request to have a quiet table by the fireplace - a lovely spot, attractive and good for conversation. The Restaurant Week menu was excellent - we had beets and escargot, followed by Veal and Roasted Sea Bass. Service was discreet and thorough. All super. A great evening at Cafe Centro.
Bass just isn't exactly "zesty" on its own but as served , this was tasty and filling. Attentive serine, nice setting and view onto the sidewalks of NY all combined for a perfectly pleasant lunch. Central location is just one more factor in Café Centro's favor.
The restaurant was decorated very nice, the server was very hard to understand, my date wanted a sweet drink, she didn't understand that. She brought it to the table and my date didn't like it. It took the server 20 minutes to come back and ask about it. I ordered something else, I thought she would take it off the bill, but offered to "fix" it.
They added sugar to the drink, give me a break...
Our waitress was quietly friendly & attentive, and accommodating. We asked if it was possible to have the lobster risotto as an appetizer; she asked the kitchen, & they obliged us. The food was very good, (especially the Monday special, Coq au Vin), with ample servings. The side of Brussels Sprouts was excellent. A lovely meal, all around.
A midtown staple, this restaurant has been a great business lunch choice for over 20 years. Its tenure alone is remarkable for restaurants in NYC. The food is good, the service professional and friendly and the atmosphere pleasant. Their french bread loaves with incredibly good french butter are to die for. I've had many lunches, some dinners and some corporate events there -- all excellent. The consistent quality and professionalism are the draw.
Charming restaurant in Met Life Building. The onion soup and beef bourguignon were excellent. The wine menu was impressive. The server was attentive and helpful. We went at 5:30 on Sat night and it was almost empty. By 7:30 it was more crowded. There is a front room with a beautiful fireplace and the rest of the restaurant features a view of the kitchen and chefs. You can hear the rumbling of trains from Grand Central Station, but it’s not disruptive.
Great location for meeting friends who commute from grand central. Authentic varied mostly french menu where we can always find something to choose. The French onion soup was perfect and the croque Monsieur and salad was a bit elaborate but so delicious and copious inwas able to take half home for my dinner. Crusty fresh baguette and spreadable butter was too good to pass up. Very satisfying lunch tho a bit pricy.
