If this place is in your budget, it's always GREAT!
The food was wonderful and the staff took great care of us for Valentine’s Day, and it was also our honeymoon. Definitely recommend!
keep up the good work
My son ordered a burger, medium rare and got one that was well done. Happily after telling them know, we weren’t charged. So good ending but disappointing.
Solid choice for a business lunch. Good food but sometimes patchy service. Main gripe: why do they put a whole baguette out on the table, instead of slicing it -- it's impossible to politely rip it apart with bare hands unless your dining mate is a loved-one. Every meal I have had there, the bread goes untouched by all (what a shame and a waste).
Service was okay until dessert and then it took forever to get the dessert even though it was ordered upfront as part of the prix fix dinner menu. And the waiter seems to have an attitude about the delayed dessert as if we shouldn't be asking for our dessert order more than once. I missed my train from Grand Central as a result. Food was very good.
Location, location, location...be prepared for high prices. Service is excellent. Food is above average, nothing special.
little too loud but food is good for the value. wine option is great. business lunch menu is worth trying for the food quality. i love their duck confit and dessert.
I enjoyed the prix fixe lunch. I chose the truffle scramble and the duck. Both were very enjoyable.
A really disappointing meal on the menu evrything looked good and mouth watering unfortunately on the plate it was a different story the pasta with truffle are mediocres a lot of water on the dish the truffle flavor is almost non existent . The main dish was shrimp and risotto and the risotto was to thick and not nice and the shrimp really salty and to finish the clafoutis was a cake a bit dry with blueberries and a sauce. It’s not a clafoutis at all and I didn’t like it
Wine are good and the selection is fine for the price
The decor is old and it looks like a train station restaurant with booth and tables
Not my type of restaurant
We sat at a table by the bar. Wyne (sp?) Was tending bar and also our server. Her attention was exceptional and her warm demeanor was an added bonus! The food was quick, well-prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. An evening well-spent.
Excellent French food served by an attentive wait staff. Nice selection of wines by the glass or bottle
As a broke lass, this Restaurant week find was an excellent choice! Romantic, delicious food, definitely different than my go-to Asian takeout and deli bagels. Solid find a couple minutes from Grand Central, not too fancy for nice jeans, dress shoes, and a sweater.
Cafe Centro in conveniently located adjacent to Grand Central Terminal. Great for breakfast and lunch meetings. Food quality is very good, service is excellent and prices are not unreasonable Verdi’s peer establishments.
Service was rather slow.
Somewhat upscale spot in Grand Central Terminal. Good for business meetings.
Always a first class dining experience
Very convenient location and pretty good food and service. Quite noisy at dinner time. Prices are moderate--high but what do you expect? After all, this is Manhattan.
Good food and service. But a little crowded.
Best thing about Café Centro is it’s convenient location- it is very busy and noisy with average food and very high prices- yet I continue to go here as it is best in area to meet people coming into Grand central- capital Grille is similar choice- but very chaotic entry
Expensive given the it was just two salads.
The salmon was the best I ever had. The salad was wonderful with the yellow beets in.
I would like to see a $12.00 wine for us working ladies.
I would comeback for the salmon.
This place needs a late lunch bistro menu. Had to order dinner at 4pm
Have been dining here for many years...
Wonderful in every way!
A quick, early breakfast with colleagues to plan the coming day. Service was attentive but not overbearing. I often have business lunch at Cafe Centro and it is always perfect. And, the location is perfect in the middle of the Grand Central area.
Convenient choice after a show for the public transport crowd. Centro has a standard French Cuisine menu, but it is more, much more than a standard French meal. Shrimp Cocktail combines both cocktail sauce and remalade in one dilectable oversized dish. Beef Bourguignon is an unexpectedly brillent single cut of stewed beef with a wine reduction that rivals the formerly unsurpassed nirvana of Westport, CT, Bistro Du Soleil bill of fare of the same signature. Well worth the trip and price tag.
Not the Centro I remember from a decade ago.
So looking forward to the pomme frites I remember. What was served was Not even close - would have preferred McDonald’s French fries!
Having friends who use grand central for commuting, cafe cento is our go to restaurant. While a little pricey, booths are comfortable, service is outstanding and seasonal menu is always correct and reliable...
Great for business lunch. Love the convenient location.
Wonderful service, delicious cosmos, limited wine selection but the wine we had was really nice! Food was really good but just a word of warning if you do not eat goat cheese - the beet salad has goat cheese but it isn't listed as an ingredient. The helpings are very generous, and we shared our plates and they kindly served us our meal separated. The brussels sprouts are to die for!
Chose it for the location, value and Art Deco decor. Turned out to be a great choice for my birthday. Sat by a fireplace, o cozy and everyone was happy and impressed. Will definitely be back!
Good, but not outstanding
We ordered a chopped salad with chicken. Chicken was under-cooked, bloody. They replaced with a chopped salad with salmon which was fine, however, timing of meal was off, we didn’t eat together. Nothing was comped after pretty big mistake.
A party of 6 long-time friends picked this for a reunion dinner on a Wednesday night. Chose over another place that had strong food reviews, but was supposed to be 'loud'. Cafe Centro was perfect. They gave us a nice round table with views of the kitchen and streetscape. The lighting was warm and cozy, the sound level was low, enabling us to talk, and laugh, from 6:30-9:40. The service was attentive, we never felt rushed, and everybody loved their food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner...great setting for romantic dates, or get-togethers when you want to be able to discuss without shouting over music, with lighting bright enough to see everybody at the table. There were other groups there as well, but we really felt like we were having a dinner in NYC in a friend's house...no crowding, no loud music, no loud bar noises, great food and ambiance. My impression is that this restaurant is much busier at lunch time, or perhaps on a different night. A great find for a group...we hope to return!
Celebrating new year’s eve early with friends.
I have been to Cafe Centro many times over the years and it never disappoints.
was wonderful, atmosphere festive , service wonderful, and food amazing. The butternut soup superb, The wine that the waiter suggested was amazing. Since my husband is french he loved the lunch and the wine
Enjoyed a lovely Christmas Eve dinner. We were treated very nicely - made to feel really welcome. Unlike some other restaurants we have gone to on Christmas Eve, we had a pleasant relaxing meal. We enjoyed the scallops, filet mignon and crab cakes. The pot de creme was very rich and tasty and we had cookies with our coffee. It was a lovely part of our holiday.
Service was horrendous! Actually had to get up from our table twice to locate a server. Food was good but pricey for what it was
Would not go back due to poor quality of service
