My wife and I were very happy that the restaurant had created a special lunch menu for Restaurant Week. She enjoyed shrimp tartine and salmon, and I had delicious watermelon gazpacho and spinach fettuccini. We chose the white wine that was suggested and had peach melba for dessert. The service was attentive and professional. The tables are prepared beautifully along with attractive floral arrangements.

Not our first visit to Café Bouloud, therefore harbored the expectation for the usual exquisite food. We tried the Basque Weekends menu, and were sorely disappointed. The food was acceptable, but not outstanding. There was not a single dish that could be termed memorable. We have come to expect much more from Café Bouloud. The ambiance, the service - those did not disappoint.

My overall experience was satisfactory but I will admit that Cafe Bouloud did not live up to the expectations I had. The food was very heavy (Spanish frittata) and the plating was extremely forward and boring. Having worked in fine dining I understand the details are what make the experience yet sadly, I felt detail was lacking. Maybe the high volume of customers has something to do with the downgrade in flavor quality but I’ve had better frittatas from coffee shops...

I have had many better meals at Cafe Boulud. Perhaps the Basque dinner was not necessarily my preference although there was plenty of good food.

The food was quite good but the wine service was a joke. First we ordered a $200+ bottle of wine, and when they came back to report they didn't have any, they suggested a $325 bottle instead......When we said we weren't going to spend that much, they miraculously came up with another $200 bottle to replace it. Then when we need another glass, they informed us that the only thing we should drink after that bottle was $40 a glass---reallly????????? Very pretentious, not many New Yorkers, mostly tourists looking for a stuffy Madison Ave experience.

A lovely evening. The service was exceptional and the food beautifully presented. The tomato salad was a particular hit. Not a cheap evening but worth it for a special occasion. The madeleines at the end were so light and just divine and worth trying to squeeze in!

It was restaurant week and the cafe was crowded, some regulars, some newbies. All expecting something marvelous to savor. We anticipated small portions for the RW menu and that was more than ok. But something great was missing. In contrast to Boulud Sud, the sAlmon was bland and our guest and I were given each other’s preferred temps. Deserts were reconstructions of traditional summer items. Fruit, sorbet, a small baked item. Just nothing special. Good but not great.

Cafe Boulud was amazing. Went for lunch with a friend during restaurant week. The dishes were exquisitely prepared and plated. We were offered bread and provided with a few tasting items out of the kitchen. The host even offered to take multiple photos of us when we asked for a picture. The staff was so warm and inviting. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant for special occasions!
