Soup is excellent. Salad is normal. Beef is a little bit salty but still delicious. Dessert a bit too sweet. Overall，great experience.
While staying at The Surrey Hotel, I ate breakfast one day and brunch on the other at Cafe Boulud. The menu was varied, and the food was absolutely delicious both times! Not only that, but the cafe had a very nice nice atmosphere, and the service was excellent. I hope to return next time I am in NYC!
Fabulous as usual
First time I had a bad experience there. Communication between the servers wasn’t working as they took forever to bring our order/coffee, etc...
and 2 dishes we ordered weren’t available!!!!!!
Table was not ready when we arrived. Asked to wait "ten minutes" in hotel lobby. Eventually sat down 45 minuets later. First course was prompt. Extended wait for second and third courses. Dessert was beautiful.
always very good, it is wonderful how daniel take care of his clients for all this years
Dinner seemed "mechanical" - from the service to the menu and food. The menu had many options (including what seemed to be out-of-place Japanese dishes), but there was no effort to explain the menu to us - how and wether we could mix and match. We had so many "servers," it wasn't clear who our waiter was or who we should turn to if we had issues. We both agreed that the desserts outweighed the entrees in terms of creativity and presentation. We booked our own reservation at Cafe Boulud as part of a visit to New York. Our hotel, the Carlyle, booked our other dinner reservations for us and, for an equivalent price point, we had much better experiences elsewhere.
Everything was impeccable - food, ambience, service!
We love the Waldorf salad, bread and main courses. However our chocolate cake was too sweetened for finish it all. Great place, comfortable and elegant. We will definitely be back soon.
We had four people in our party. The veloute was somewhat disappointing as the foie gras was completely dissolved in the sauce. Two entrees (the bass and the pork chop) were too dry. We had a very reasonably priced Sicilian, wine which was excellent.
