good meal and decent quality
My husband and I go to Cafe' Boulud on special occasions and are never disappointed. The food is very tasty and the service impeccable. My striped bass was superb. The best way to celebrate my birthday!
We dine with friends and are not hurried. Tremendous
choices. We know to expect a high standard with seasonal
ingredients. Desserts are unmissable.
I live in Brazil and come to New York twice a year, and always go to the Bouluds, love them!
It is probably the worst French cuisine I've ever had...very salty and extremely hard to digest. I had a stomachache after I had my salad. The menu says Macadamia in the salad, but you have to use microscope to see it, nor could you taste it. And the salad is made from lettuce with roots. How could they claim such a high price for such poor quality food! I was extremely dissapointed. It is unbelievable!
Jammed in and seriously overpriced for Valentines dinner
Cafe boulud is one of my favorite restaurants but don't go there on valentines day. They over booked the number of people they could fit and the usual calm, high service setting was rushed and cramped. There was more than a 30 minute wait for our table with no where to wait ( even the adjacent bar was packed) and despite all the staff still being quite accommodating, they really couldn't give the type of service that they are used to due to the number of diners and the cramped room. Definitely not worth the very high priced dinner this night.
A great experience with the unique french flavour of charm, elegance and magnificent taste.
Excellent on every level.
This is the real thinker: French cuisine as edible art.
A pure pleasure!
We dined at Cafe Boulud as an early Valentine's Day treat. Everything was executed flawlessly. The food from start to finish was outstanding and the service was attentive without being obtrusive. It was an extremely solid dining experience and we would recommend to all without hesitation. We look forward to going back.
I was very excited about our dinner at Cafe Boulud. It was my daughter's 20th birthday and I indicated so in the notes I left for the restaurant in the open table app. Thinks started really well. Our reservation was at 9:30 since there was nothing available before and we got there eager and hungry. The bread was delicious. Our first course also wonderful, I had a jambalaya that had layers of flavor and was smokey and delicious. My daughter had crab with tangerine, fennel, jicama, mint, and crème fraîche that was also great.
Our second course was also good, I was underwhelmed by the pork (not the refinement I expected) but my daughter loved her ricotta gnocchi.
The real problem was the service. When 11 o'clock came along half the waiters left and we felt like, all the sudden we were the proverbial Cinderella wearing rags. They hurried us, they brought a beignet that was part of my desert in a "to go" paper bag when we did not indicate we were leaving. They were not bringing the petit madeleines they had brought for every other table nor the round bonbons. We had to ask for it. The maitre brought the bill before I asked and tried to take it away before I had a chance to put my card in the fold. Of course no acknowledgement was made of my daughter's birthday.
Not worthy of the star Michelin. If you are so eager to go home early, do not take late reservations. I left the restaurant, after paying a pretty penny, mad, disappointed and feeling mistreated. I won't be back nor will I recommend it to my friends. The cuisine was great but the way you treat your costumers, when they invest you with the privilege and power of making a memory (my daughter's 20th) is even more important. They failed. They wrecked it. So sad.
Fantastic cuisine and wines. Very creative and classic dishes selections. Very efficient and amicable service.
Excellent pain fait maison..excellent service ..la cuisine manque d originalité
Excellent service for mom,s birthday dinner for 5. Special care, excellent flavors and presentation, special desserts.
Nice atmosphere and very attentive service. Food was more than adequate but not necessarily worth the cost. Recommended for a special occasion.
Amazing on everything. Great food and first class service.
Café Boulud doesn't need a review from me. There's nothing I can add that hasn't already been said a thousand times from much more reputable reviewers than me. Not to mention that the joint has a well known reputation for it's food and service. It was one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was superb. It's clear why this is a Michelin rated restaurant.
I have to stretch hard to find anything to complain about and the only thing I would say would be that the butter could have been softer for the bread that was served. I add this only because no person and no establishment is perfect. That's classic nit picking and matters zero in the scheme of things. I can't wait to go back. If I lived next door to the place, I'd probably be living on the street from having put all my money into meals at Café Boulud.
Very good food, nice selections, and generally good service with a moderate noise level.
The food at Cafe Boulud is some of the finest cuisine you can have in New York City!
I had the beef which was great but everything else was not much of a wow! Restaurant week.
Four of us went for a birthday celebration. The food was top notch. Two of us had salmon & two Beef Bourgeon. It was during Restaurant Week, so there was a prix fixe menu. The portion were large(at least for women!)
Lovely dining experience. Food and service were excellent!
it only cost $29 per person for a wonderful French lunch，cosy restaurant，good service，and tasting food，friendly for my 3 year old kid，and my kid loved the desert very much，nice experience
The seat was too crowded
Cafe Boulud used to be my go to place for a nice dinner, especially on Sundays and Mondays. Then the chef changed and they have slowly built their way back to the old excellence. You could always count on exceptional service. Unfortunately, on this visit we had exceptionally poor service. We waited almost 30 minutes to get a first drink, the waiter was very distant and then decided to give us our check before even asking about dessert. I hope this is not reflective of the current state as was an aberration
Presentation and preparation of food is special and the restaurant is elegant. One can relax and enjoy a special cocktail and be treated with care and not at all feel rushed. A very enjoyable experience.
I was expecting more from this restaurant with the chef name and for the price. Had the recommended escargot and it was good but not hot. The chicken was also cold, dry and looked like leftovers with a rock hard pastry ring. My dinner guest had sea bass which he said was good but slightly overdone, but served on a tasteless mash of something. Service was really slow between first and second course, and then another long wait for dessert. I would not go back.
My husband and I were in the city for the weekend and had agreed to meet a friend at Café Boulud. In the event, she couldn't come and we kept the reservation, but were disappointed. After we left, my husband told me the restaurant had a Michelin star, and I couldn't believe it. We are foodies and have enjoyed great meals all over the world, but didn't find anything special about the food at Café Boulud. We started off with a frosty reception, and the interactions we witnessed during the 15 minutes we waited for our table suggested a clear advantage of being an insider....Finally we were seated next (VERY CLOSE) to a couple that screamed throughout their meal, making it impossible for us to have a conversation. On a positive note, our waiter was very professional, and seemed quite vexed when he realized they had forgotten our main course. Overall this was an unhappy experience, as we found the place stuffy, dark, overcrowded, and noisy.
