Impeccable food and service.
Good, but not surprisingly good.
Elegant, attentive with overbearing, wonderful food at every meal
This was a family celebration of my wife's 90th birthday with our daughter and son-in-law and a nephew and niece and their spouses. It was perfect in every way--food, service and friendly attentiveness, with a most professional serving staff led by Renata. My wife and I have dined at Cafe Boulud two previous times and we look forward to the next, soon. By the way, we attend Lincoln Center often and have enjoyed the three Boulud restaurants there for many years.
Lovely setting, excellent service and most importantly, outstanding food
Love Bolud restaurants especially for seafood and amazing good values on wine list. Hats off especially to sommelier
Not by any stretch an inexpensive restaurant. Quite the opposite, and yet it is a better value than most of the comparable. Excellent food, fine wine list, impeccable service and a very nice ambiance.
Excellent food and outstanding service, as we expected from a Boulud restaurant.
Timeless classic that exceeds expectations in both service and cuisine. Fabulous staff that personify culinary excellence both in front of house and kitchen. Bravo!
The service was impeccable and the food outstanding! Wonderful experience!
After seeing the show Moulin Rouge, a French restaurant was exactly what we wanted! My husband and I were celebrating my 70th birthday! We could not have picked a more appropriate place. Food, atmosphere, service, impeccable. Loved every minute of it! We were greeted with pleasantries and it continued throughout the evening! Of course, my birthday was acknowledged by the staff to complete the night! We will return! Merci
Second time at Cafe Boulud, this time for a birthday celebration, and on both visits the food and service have been outstanding. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and really helped make it an excellent dinner for a special occasion.
Cafe Boulud seems to have lost its spark. The basics on the menu are as good as before, but the service and overall atmosphere nothing special. Maitre D are okay but service terrible - not familiar with the menu, almost throwing coffee cups on the table - missing basic training of a good restaurant....
Brunch menu is a little bit simple. Especially the entree part. If can serve tasting menu, will be much better. Oysters were really good pairing with Napa Vally’s Chardonnay. Service was perfect.
Absolutely incredible! The server was so kind and the food was beyond words.
Not impressed - felt like the perfunctory hotel restaurant
My wife and I just arrived in NYC after a long day of travel and were looking forward to a relaxing dinner. We decided to have just a half bottle of wine and ordered a Burgundy at $110. When we were served it was from a Coravin and was a Bonne Mare. I neglected to look at the detail on the bill when it was presented and later found that the cost was $250. My fault for not catching it but I would not expect "bait and switch" from a restaurant the caliber of Boulud.
If you are looking for an experience in NYC, look no further. My friend was very happy with his surprise brunch here. Kudos to all of the staff for making us feel welcome and cared-for.
Outstanding food (appetizer, main, shared dessert, 1 bottle of wine), service - terrific, and noise level - quiet. One of the most expensive meals I have had in NYC.
My family of five had an absolutely splendid evening at Cafe Boulud. We loved it all—the food was exceptional, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and all of us—ages 17-79–enjoyed it immensely. Standouts for food were the foie gras, the chicken, the beef Wellington, and the oysters. The ambiance was lovely and calming.
It was a special evening we will not forget.
It is absolutely superb, and we are lucky to have it two streets away....the most luxurious neighborhood
club in the world!
A great restaurant in the classic mode. Quiet and comfortable, impeccable service, maybe a bit pricey but worth it
This restaurant is the perfect combination of a special occasion restaurant and one in which you can imagine locals go at least once a week. I simply adore this place.
Food was wonderful. And the service is always impeccable. It's nice that they always have fresh, seasonal ingredients on the menu.
Good as usual. Would like less salt in food.
Outstanding in every regard.
This was New Years eve Gala Dinner.
Had a reasonably pleasant evening but not memorable. We enjoyed the food but found the atmosphere rather drab. Last comment particularly results from the fact that we did not find the evening guest singer particularly good. All of this might explain the fact that by midnight retaurant was 80% empty! Over all, we do not feel we got our money’s worth and would not recommend this NYE dinner gala.
Amazing cuisine, really nice people. The food was really delicious and different of what we are used to.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent setting!
Everything was lovely!
Absolutely outstanding! The food was excellent just like other Daniel’s restaurants. I could not have been more pleased with using this place for a family reunion dinner. Their heartwarming service made our day more special.
As we have come to expect, everything served here ranges from excellent to outstanding. It’s lively, but conversation without shouting is possible.
Always excellent service and food
Beautiful meal and interesting cocktails.
Food was delicious, dessert a bit disappointing. Bread was outstanding.
I really like this restaurant. I have been there by myself on several occasions, but I came with a friend this time. The service is always great. Everyone is helpful. I find this restaurant to be really budget friendly for a Michelin star place. I have salmon tartare and roasted monkfish. I wished appetizer had more sauce, but it was good otherwise. My friend had soup and duck confit. They tasted great, too. One can’t forget warm Madeline cookies served at the end of the meal. I will definitely come back to Cafe next time I am visiting NYC.
Always the best!
The service was outstanding. Extremely professional. That is, of course, what I expected but pleasing nonetheless. The food was outstanding.
This was our second time dining at Cafe Boulud, the first having been some 10 years ago. Neither time was really a charm.
Let's start with the dated decor, which hasn't changed since we first ate there. It's simply not an elegant dining room to begin with and, on this evening, it lacked any particularly special holiday decor short of some rather small and sorry looking table arrangements. For a "special" $175 holiday menu per person, they could have made the room festive but nope: just as bland as any regular evening. The seating was also akin to the very back of a crowded plane. We literally ate shoulder to shoulder with the table next to us with barely an inch separating our tables. It was like a table of 4 rather than 2 tables of 2. Just awkward, at best.
Second, the food. It was just OK, not great or sublime . The biggest "miss" perhaps was the fact that the amuse-bouche was a black truffle risotto ball and the obligatory (i.e., no choice) middle course was, you guessed it: black truffle risotto! Really? No matter how you sliced it, this was the EXACT same dish served twice: bite-sized, then plated. For $175, a restaurant of such high stature should have mixed this up. There was really no excuse for that.
Another miss I felt were the portion sizes. The flavor of the pumpkin soup was OK but I only ate about a quarter of it because it was a trough-sized portion. Way too much! But then, my entree (chicken) was so small that I almost needed to order another savory dish to stave my hunger. Were they purposely trying to fill me up on soup to justify the small entree size? I mean, again, for $175 give me more meat on the plate, not more soup.
We really tried to be open minded about returning to this restaurant as we were underwhelmed the first time some 10 years ago. But since they were preparing a "special" holiday menu we thought we'd be in for a treat. Sadly, it just missed the mark.
