Very excellent duck dish marred by overly vinegared Japanese eggplant which was basically inedible. Mentioned to the wait staff but no action taken.
Disappointing Sunday brunch - host seated us at a two-top right next to another group along a banquette. There was less than six inches between tables, and there was an open table (which stayed open the entire meal) on the other side. Why seat us at a table so close to someone else when other tables are available? And why have tables so close together at an "upscale" restaurant to begin with? That was entirely unnecessary and ruined the meal. There was zero privacy and it was very uncomfortable. It was essentially a communal table. Service was okay, but rushed and not refined - plates were dropped roughly onto table and often dropped crooked. There was no effort for precision. Food was good quality and tasty though.
Our meal was excellent! The atmosphere felt like a special night out, just enough going on to feel vibrant
Underwhelming and overpriced, the truffle pasta that was 80 for an app portion didn’t even have flavor, the only good dishes were the duck and veal... crab was underwhelming, fluke barely had any flavor... bar boulud is light years ahead of cafe boulud
Always wonderful and never disappoints
The pumpkin soup was fabulous
Unbelievable food, service, and perfect place to celebrate that special occasion
Good food, but not fantastic.
Not so expensive.
Everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. Food was excellent.
Indifferent and inattentive service marred an important get together. Surprised to have had this experience at one of Daniel's many outlets, but I guess you can't hit homeruns everyday. My advice is avoid a late breakfast on days when they serve brunch as the changeover tends to consume the attention of the staff and make for a less than pleasant environment.
Wife’s birthday dinner. Wanted a special dinner and it was.
My family had a wonderful experience at the restaurant. Our service team was wonderful and only enhanced the culinary experience
Professional and friendly service. Food was tasty and well presented.
Cafe Boulud remains one of the top favorite restaurants in NYC. The menu and food is wonderful and diverse in its offerings. I found the service a bit clumsy and off this visit. The food was not brought out and served in a coherent manner. Trying to find a waiter (other than abundant busboys) to ask for help was often difficult. This won't stop me from continuing to go back. But, its worth noting, especially given how efficient this restaurant normally operates.
Sensational in every way. The menu was varied, the dishes were fabulous and the atmosphere elegant yet relaxed. A New York City treasure.
We went for our anniversary and loved every aspect, from the wait staff to the food! Lots of high end NY restaurants tend to be a bit stuffy, but all the staff at Cafe Boulud was friendly and very nice! We weren't rushed, and they gave us an extra treat for our anniversary dessert! I had an Indian inspired appetizer, a grilled cauliflower, then another Indian dish for an entree that had three different cuts of lamb in it! It was absolutely delicious!! Hubby had a gnocchi appetizer that he loved, then the trout entree, which was so filling, he couldn't finish! We've been to Cafe Boulud at least five times, and will be back, it's worth the trip and the money!!
Excelente restaurant ! The food, the service, the ambient, everything amazing ! My congratulations
Very friendly staff - great food, creative and nicely served. Wine is outstanding ... all in all a wonderful venue with excellent food and service
Outstanding food and service, beautiful restaurant
I was there for Sunday brunch knowing as a Michelin star winner.
The food was disappointing. My daughter, her boyfriend and myself liked our appetizers, smoked salmon, assorted prosciuttos & patte and endive salad. But we all did not like our main courses. They tried to make too much twist on everything. My daughter ordered Egg Beneduct with crab cake. The crab cake was deep fried with some kind of thick flavor and the Hollandaise sauce was orange color with no flavor. I ordered porched white fish ( I forgot the name). It was toooo dry.
Also we all got a feeling that the waiter who served us looked like he does not like what he does. Price was Michelin Star Restaurant price of course. I don’t know about their dinner but I would not recommend their brunch.
Superb menu and outstanding presentation. What you would expect from A Daniel Boulud restaurant.
In NYC on my own for a weekend and wanted to experience a quality restaurant in the Upper East Side. I thoroughly enjoyed the fixed price 3 course lunch menu - which included a range of interesting options as you would expect from a restaurant of this standard. I opted for a delicious pumpkin soup, pork belly and a dessert from the trolley selection. All elegantly presented.
A local favourite based on the welcome given to several groups, and as a visitor dining alone I was also made to feel welcome. Service was of a high standard.
Certainly lived up to expectation and I hope I have the chance to return.
Fabulous wine list !
Failed to deliver on expectations. The food was good but we waited too long for it and it arrived warm rather than hot - unforgivable for a restaurant with a Michelin star.
As always Cafe Boulud is a dining experience. Take advantage of tbe pre fix lunch from Monday tbru Saturday...
A memorable meal. The food was exceptional, service was top-notch. We were absolutely happy with the entire evening meal and would love to go back.
Food and bread were excellent. Wouldn’t expect anything less!
The food was disappointing and on the level, that I expected
The food was good, not the best I've ever had but really tasty. I went for brunch on a sunday. They have a 3 course for 55 dollars. Great desserts.
Amazing and yummy
We have been fortunate to dine in many great restaurants in different parts of the world. This one is one of the best we have ever been to. Probably in the top five. Absolutely fantastic in every respect. We will be going back!
Love the ambience at this restaurant. They do wonderful soups. We had pumpkin soup which was delicious. The pasta dish was not quite up to their usual high quality, but we were there for brunch, and the menu had mostly egg dishes. The desert was exceptional, and love the madelines at the end of the meal. Barbara is our preferred wait person. She is a real asset for the restaurant.
Unfortunately, the previous evening we experienced a spectacular meal at The Modern. So by contrast, CB was a bit of a let down - more crowded, noisier, not as exciting. That said, the food and service deserve the michelin star that CB has. From the seasonal special menu, the sweetbread app and for entry were exceptional.
Excellent food and service. One of the top restaurants in the city. I highly recommend........
Food was amazing, we especially loved their take on pumpkin soup, the trout with lobster, and the sorbets. The sommelier made the perfect wine recommendation and the service was impeccable! It was a fabulous dining experience.
An outstanding restaurant in lovely space with impeccable service, excellent food and wine. Only criticism would be the acceptance of large parties(12 people)next to us that disturbed the atmosphere .
Always a lovely experience!! The atmosphere and the service are always exceptional! The food is always quite delicious.
This is a very nondescript spot so you need to be headed there but it’s definitely worth the trip. The lunch price-fixe menu offers 2 or 3 courses of outstanding contemporary French dining for $39/45. Highly Recommended
If you’re a fish lover, the striped bass was delicious as were the scallops and oysters. Desserts were outstanding and the service attentive. A consistently great restaurant.
This is one been disappointed.of those special places where the food, the service and the ambience all combine to make for a dining experience at the highest level New York has to offer. We have been several times and have never
