Cafe Blue - Downtown
Food is absolutely delicious! Great service , beautiful restaurant -would definitely return
The restaurant was empty. I think there were five other people in there. The clam chowder was watery. The molten cake was cold, and the molten was hard. The bread was weird.
Place was dead 8:30 pm on a Friday. Oysters were 46/doz but just so so.
The Mahi Mahi was fresh and delicious. They were able to meet our special dietary needs very easily.
Food was excellent, very attentive to gluten free needs. Dined outside which was very nice. Our server Jordan was very attentive.
There was no service, no one came to our table till after we went to the buffet line and started eating.
No told us it was buffet style when we booked. The food was bad cold and out of some items.
I felt bad for my wife for taking her there for Mother's Day. We spent $200.00 for there people.
I should have gone next door to Flemings for that price.
Part of the issue was the buffet for Mother's Day, but there was significant inattention of the waitstaff. No silverware, taking forever to respond to a simple request, etc. The price for what you got also seemed high for the quality. The food was good and the variety was nice, but overall the experience was not up to what I have had at the Galleria locations (long time customer of those). I would likely give it another chance based on the other location, but this time was a disappointment.
Decided to eat there for Mother's Day brunch, won't be doing that again. The food selection was ok but nothing special and their selection was small. For a seafood restaurant, you would think they would offer more then oysters, shrimp, and salmon! Our table was bare, not even silverware was on it. We had to ask for silverware because the waitress didn't notice it was missing. Their mimosas were adequate but must have been made with the cheapest of champagne or sparkling wine because everyone who drank them got a headache afterward. This was not the Mother's Day experience we were hoping for, definitely not a special occasion restaurant! We had eaten at their Bee Caves location and the food was always good, but this was definitely underwhelming.
I was super disappointed by Cafe Blue (downtown) Mothers Day Brunch. I have attended it at The Galleria location in the past and liked it but yesterday was underwhelming. The oysters and shrimp were fine (which is really what I was there for), but the brunch cocktails and regular brunch offerings were cold, dry, and disappointing. Not to mention it's pretty expensive and our bill came with an additional cocktail on it that wasn't ours. I won't be attending the Special Brunch again.
Ford was delicious. Ambience was perfect, and the service was exceptional.
Good food but terrible service! Incompetent server and also very slow kitchen, although the restaurant was not busy. This was an anniversary treat and we were disappointed. Will not go there again!
Not worth the money. So many other options, parking is tough, valet is higher than other restaurants and food is fair for the money- not excellent!
everything was amazing! the recommendations are perfect and delicious!
My friend and I really enjoyed ourselves, we will definitely return 😁
The martini I ordered was pathetic. The glass was less then 1/3 full. Needless to say, I only ordered one. The stuffed founder was good. I would have liked to have had more then 3 spears of asparagus.
Very loud. But otherwise very pleasant. Great food. Amazing brussel sprouts.
The seafood is always fresh and well prepared. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff.
Amanda was a great waitress, food was delicious. We ate outside and it was very nice.
Didn't realize on Easter Sunday that the buffet was the only choice. There was only 1 choice of Eggs Benedict and 1 choice of french toast (both items that this restaurant is known for). The food was room temp. At $41.95/person we could have gone to Flemings or even Eddie V's for brunch. A $280 bill with tax for 4 people and we left unimpressed.
It would have been nice to know in advance that this was a buffet option on Sunday, not the regular menu. I don't like buffets! Also - the wait service was quite slow and inattentive. Food was average but not worth $100 that we spent.
We went there for Easter and the buffet was very expensive with not that many offerings. I feel like it was priced too high for what you get without and option to order off the menu.
I was disappointed. The oyster chef refused to get a pair of tongs for the oysters and told me "they were out of tongs and everyone just grabs them with their hands." Umm. No. I will not be returning.
Had a great time, food was great. Will recommend to friends for sure!
Went in and grabbed a seat at the bar. Bartender was prompt and great with food suggestions. Got some Blue Point Oysters on the half shell and they were delicious and fresh! Ordered a NY Strip and was cooked to perfection. The kitchen is open to the public view so it’s really cool to see how hard the chefs work to make that place run. Would def recommend and will be back soon.
Cafe Blue is one of my favorite places in Downtown Austin. The food is always excellent and the ambiance is perfect, whether for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Amazing wine list, and a seafood menu to die for. Check them out!
Great food and service. We go out of our way to have brunch here and we are never disappointed.
They were very accommodating for a large party. Service was great, as well as the food.
Went to Cafe Blue for my birthday dinner. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Everyone had a different entree and each plate was a visually appealing and flavorful. The calamari appetizer is a must and finished off the meal with chocolate cake and Amy’s ice cream. Definitely would recommend.
We were in town from Ohio for a conference and this remarkable place was just down the street from our hotel. Simple amazing. No. Other. Words.
Came here for my boyfriend’s birthday. Made a reservation for a regular table, but was also given the option of a high top off the the side to keep us away from a larger group (which was nice). Waiter was attentive. Food came out fairly quick. I’ll go over a highlight of the pros and cons.
Pros- The food was very tasty.
We had the crab cakes & ribs as an appetizer (probably my favorite part of the meal)
I had the jerk chicken, and my boyfriend had 1lb of blue king crab legs.
The service was exceptional.
Cons- They only serve Moscato in a 2oz wine glass. It was almost laughable that you could get other wines in larger glasses. But the “dessert wine” only in a 2oz. That’s all I drink. So I was a little sad.
The crab legs come to you ALREADY HALVED. You don’t crack them open yourself. The issue with this is, it’s a lot of meat, by the time you’ve eaten 2 pieces the rest of your food is cold. The shell is what keeps it warm. (The crab was fairly pricey too, about 60$ for the lb. It was yummy though.)
The valet is on a weird corner, so depending on what side you come up on, you may have to turn around. Which was a little tough with traffic.
All in all, we had a good experience. Wouldn’t come back for the crab as long as it’s prepared that way. Not a fan of paying $60 for cold food. Would come back to try some other options on the menu.
While in town for the SIR Conference, went to Cafe Blue for dinner. Very disappointing. Our party got the feeling the place is ready to close down. Mostly all of the beer taps were shut down. Our waitress told us this was happening " all over the city". We had been to many restaurants in the city and we did not experience a " beer shortage". Food was mediocre at best, although one person in our group had great oysters on the half shell. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, but the overall dining experience was poor. I would not recommend this restaurant.
The food was excellent as well as the choices on the menu. The service was great. The restaurant was a bit noisy but overall a good choice for high end seafood and oysters.
Good but loud crowd made it challenging to hear
Great in every way
Nothing special. Food was okay.
We always stop by here when we are in Austin, seafood and service is always great. Ceviche and tenderloin tips and mussels are well recommended!
Cafe Blue is a restaurant near the Austin Convention Center. Our server, Amanda, was attentive and friendly. They have several varieties of fresh oysters and I had a delicious half dozen Gulf oysters on the half shell. We also shared an order of Calamari with an very tasty sauce. The rolls and butter we were served were wonderful. I had crab stuffed flounder and my husband had the Ahi tuna. Both were plenty of food and very good. We finished this meal with a slice of one of the best key lime pies we have ever had. Thank you, Blue Cafe!
Excellent restaurant, I really enjoyed it.
Hostess was rude and unaccommodating. Crab stuffed flounder lacking flavor, took a long time for food. However redfish Louisiane, oysters and bread pudding very good. Way to pricey for wait was received.
