Cafe Blue - Downtown

Delish and friendly staff
The restaurant is a step above Red Lobster. Mussels were undercooked. They fried the crab cake (not baked) and the ceasar salad had stale parm cheese. Dressing was not good. Would not recommend.
I loved the Sesame Crust Ahi Tuna
2nd time back before UT Game. Awesome!
The seafood is consistently good.
Nice place. The oysters Rockefeller were exceptional and had an interesting twist. Drinks and wine list were very reasonable.
Nice environment great food and fine service from Justin
Great experience, delicious food, love the valet parking as well.
One the worst experiences ever. There is little or no sound attenuation material in the restaurant. With a large number of convention participants there you could not speak to the person across the table. Had to track down our server after sitting for 15 minutes in the din . At the end of the meal my Opentable reward could not be used . That may have been an Opentable issue. I have to determine that today. I would revisit the Cafe Blu in the Hill Country Galleria but will NEVER go to the downtown location again.
Wonderful food and great service.
Everything was good...I expected more considering the location and reviews
We had an amazing time and the food was outstanding. Our server was Angelique and she was phenomenal. She was very friendly, knowledgeable and even partook in our birthday celebration. Thank you so much.
We had a group of seven. The meal was awesome. Everyone's dish go back.was awesome. The presentation was really well done. Our waitress was extremely attentive and on top of everything. I would definitely go back.
Family from out of town. This is one of our favorite Austin go-to restaurants and it didn't fail us tonight. The Special Bacon wrapped scallop with lobster risotto was awesome. The table had crepes, steaks, sea bass, Blue Plate special and an assortment of appetizers, and salads. No one was disappointed, all plates were cleaned, and everyone was happy.
What a great choice! Excellent seafood options, but plenty to whet the appetite for other tastes. The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we liked the (sensible length) specials board.
We wanted to try Cafe Blue downtown after a performance at the Long Center. It was challenging to get on the right side of the street to valet park, and we never did. The valet was wonderful and took care of us anyway.
The food, wine, and service were all great! Noise level was too high for us, especially from a guy who was cheering his team loudly at the bar. All in all, though, it was a good experience.
Excellent food and service. Nice open atmosphere. Oysters very fresh and the sea bass out of this world.
This place was great! Large seafood / steak menu, fun classy ambiance although place was pretty empty on a Friday evening. Maybe it changes when it’s not hot out. Service was great. Food was pricey but good portion size
Was there for a birthday and felt like a leper. 5 tables at lunch rush and had to flag waitress down...heck had to find the valet that should have been a clue...Friend shrimp improperly prepared all the crust would fall off so had no taste. Disappointing is my word not bad but why would you return for a Disappointing experience?
Noise from other tables reflected off hard surrounding surfaces.
Server was kind and knowledgeable. But we had to ask her 4 times for straws and lemons. Then it took awhile before she delivered our wine bottle and glasses.
Coconut shrimp was good. Crab Mac n cheese was good but also different than expected. Penne pasta and thinner cheese, not much crab.
The other two guest with us felt their food was average.
I was pleasantly surprised about this restaurant. I had a recommendation from someone that I did not expect would recommend a restaurant this good.
The food was very good, the service was great and the prices were very reasonably.
I will certainly make this a place that I will return to regularly.
Everything we tried was too notch. From the crab cakes appetizer to the rum cake bread pudding, a great experience.
Food was terrific - crab stuffed shrimp was delicious. Great ambience and the location was very clean. The bottle of Justin Cab was a great recommendation. Overall, great experience.
Anniversary dinner, amazing food and amazing service. Highly recommend
such good seafood and cocktails! Sad we missed happy our since oysters were half off!
Perfect for special occasion celebrations. Our waitperson was helpful and offered recommendations we didn’t necessarily need such as the pitcher of vodka drinks for two people; might have been good for three or four to share yet too much drink for two. Watered down by the time it’s halfway at $48, buy fresh. Oysters, seafood - crab, flounder, trout, all prepared to perfection. Key lime pie ->not a fan, too bad because that would have given 5stars
Made a lunch reservation while in Austin for a conference. The food was excellent, but the show was watching the Matre'd, wish I had asked his name to could publicly acknowledge him. Our group at the convention center was more than 10,000 and the restaurant was just slammed. He never lost his cool, was incredibly polite, even to the people that didn't necessarily deserve it. I watched as he coached his team members and in addition to the front desk, grab drinks, served orders; it was awesome to see someone that new his job and completed it at a high level. No surprise, with a leader like that, the rest of the team was also great. Did I mention the fried oyster Po-boy was awesome!
Service was very slow. I believer our server was over extended. Drinks/wine were slow.
My experience was OK. I expected the food to be amazing but it didn’t live up to my expectation. The calamari was under seasoned and a very weird shape - didn’t seem authentic and felt like something I’d get from a 2 star restaurant during my college days. Our entree was OK as well. I was excited to get the salmon dish because the server raved about it but everything but the hero of the dish (salmon) were tasty. Definitely disappointed.
Everything was good to awesome except the market price on oysters on the half shell. Just be warned, one dozen was $45. $3.75 an oyster for some of the tiniest, grity-ist oysters in town.
Good food, good service- loud due to a private event in the back so dining was only close to bar which has MANY TVs going non-stop.
Overpriced. Small portions. Drinks not mixed. Beer & its glass were not cold. Best thing we had was the calamari appetizer.
Outstanding food and the key lime pie was AMAZING! The server was outstanding as well.
Food was great the Lobster omelette was the best I ever had .
We had a very good dinner, was not crowded at all and the food was very good. We loved the Thai sauce for the mussels . The seared tuna slices were delicious. Oyster on the half shell were a bit expensive.
Manager made our night. Gave us advice on the hotspots in Austin
We wine for my boyfriends birthday! The waitress was very knowledgeable and kind. Everything was delicious!
Good atmosphere and an easy scooter ride to Rainey Street. Food was good for the price and the service was fun and attentive. Good recommendation for seafood.
