My wife and I went to Café Annie's for the first time and enjoyed ourselves very much. Everything from the cocktails to the gluten free chocolate desert was fantastic. My wife & I shared the Yellow tail appetizer and then she had a kale salad and I had the mushroom soup. We both had the pheasant for our entrees. The restaurant was very vibrant and great for people watching. Our server was very attentive and didn't rush us at all. It was one of the best dinners out we've had in a very long time.
First time visit. Arrived downstairs with no direction or person to let us know that we were suppose to go upstairs, but we figured it out. Beautiful restaurant, very quite for a Friday night had always heard this was an IT place to see and be seen. Food was good but for the price of the filet mignon it does not rate as high as Mastros and Stk 48. Service and wait staff were great and very attentive. Will go back to try brunch, heard it was very good.
Haven't been in years. Excellent!!
We did not have to wait for a table when we arrived. The ambiance is very nice,
service very good, food excellent.
As always, Cafe Annie is an incredible experience! The atmosphere is so fun, the staff so professional and kind, and the dishes coming out of the kitchen are unforgettable!!!!
THE BEST in Houston !!!! GREAT FOOD and the service very professional...
Service is best described as indifferent - which is understandable as the service charge for our table of 6 was fixed at 20%. I dropped a fork on the floor as the food was being served and waited a good 5 min for the waiter to come back and finally gave up and picked up a fork from an unused table. They took way too long to take our orders - we had to look for the waiter every time we needed him. Food was only fair - my rib-eye steak ($45) was very thin and almost tasteless. Cafe Annie has hit bottom as far as I am concerned!
Well orchestrated Valentine's Day menu and experience. Food was great as always but they made the event special with decorations, and a free photo booth to commemorate the occasion.
We went for Valentines Day! They go all out with decorations on tables and throughout restaurant! Great place to celebrate!
Dined here with my wife and friends for Valentines dinner. As a former fan of the old Cafe Annie, it was our first time at this new restaurant.
The table and ambiance were great, a beautiful restaurant well decorated for Valentines Day.
The service was slow, very slow, and inattentive. Observing our waiter, he was working hard but clearly was overloaded with tables, stretched too thin. He was polite and friendly, and recognized the shortcomings that we were seeing, and tried to adjust and compensate. But the meal was slow and we often found ourselves waiting on something - especially first drinks, and the bill at the end. And our order was mixed up more than once with the wrong drink delivered, a missing dessert, and lack of after dinner coffee that had been ordered.
The food was just so-so. It was presented warm, not hot, suggesting a problem in the kitchen, and based on several other reviews, this needs to be addressed ASAP. The appetizers were great, with the crab tostadas being the absolute best of the evening. The coffee crusted ribeye was a great piece of meat but was not up to serving temperature and lacked flavor.
Overall, a letdown for us from a restaurant that used to be the pacesetter in Houston’s culinary circles.
The crab tostada was excellent, as was the wine and the service. However, my steak was among the worst I've ever had at an upscale restaurant; tough, underdone, chewy. The polenta was OK, but barely. This place isn't worth the money.
I must admit I was disappointed. The Crab Tostadas were great as usual and the crab cake was good. The two fish dishes we ordered - snapper and salmon, were not cooked with any particular care. Neither was worthy of Cafe Annie. The wine was good but VERY expensive and I bought one of the lowest priced wines. The new decor is jarring. Not what I expected at all.
I am a long time patron but the newest incarnation does not satisfy me. The prices are high and the satisfaction does not match. Reserve this one for people who are impressed by the past history and who are on expense accounts. I probably will not be back. There are too many great restaurants in Houston at much more reasonable prices and who know how to cook fish.
I have been visiting Cafe Annie for several years. It has undergone many transformations in appearance, appeal, and menu choices. This place was always about presentation and I was willing to pay a top dollar for a decent food... until today.
I have ordered a Tuna salad. In parentheses, it clearly said "Ahi Tuna". When the waiter brought the dish, it looked strange. The tuna looked and tasted like canned tuna from Kroger. I asked him and he assured me that tune was cooked in their kitchen. I have eaten tuna before and this was not a tuna salad. $20 for canned tuna. I think I am done with this place.
Celebrated Valentines Day with a lunch there. It definitely lived up to its reputation of being one of Houston's top restaurants. The food was gourmet: even the basic house salad had a fantastic vinaigrette; the skewered filet mignon was cooked just right; and the red fish on chilaquiles was a unique and winning combination. The service was friendly and spot-on. Can't wait for the road construction on Post Oak Blvd to be completed!
The food does not meet the standards of prior years, but service and ambiance are still great.
Same as usual....come with many you ll enjoy the crowd, small group will be wuiet!
Everything was great except having to go downstairs to use the restroom. The stairs are kind of treacherous for those of us who have depth-perception challenges. Maybe a black line on each of the steps or some sort of different color for the area beneath the steps would help. I felt as though I had to hold on for dear life in order to make it up and down the stairs.
Great food and ambiance as well as service!
Wonderful as always! One of our favorite lunch spots with the girls!
We have been patrons for many years and are never disappointed by the service, the food and the care they give their customers.
This time we specially enjoyed the attention that Mimi and Robert Del Grande gave us on our special occasion.
Needles to say we will continue to enjoy Cafe Annie in the future.
We actually went to the PRIME ROOM for a birthday dinner. It was very good, although, I should have had the Au Jus sauce on the side and not on top of the Prime Rib, additionally, the Horseradish sauce the same, on the side. Perhaps they could place these items in a small dipping dish(s). It seemed my Steak was swimming in sauce by the middle of my meal !! Cocktails, Wine and Service were Primo !!!!! Thank You Cafe Annie ;)
Disappointed they do not give separate checks for two people.
Food used to be better. They remodeled, again, and they are trying to do too much. Great outside roof bar when the weather is good.!!! Bar menu is good!
Robert del Grande is existing on reputation alone. The food was bland, cold and overpriced. My wife and myself have dined at his restaurants from the time when he broke into the food scene with a bang. He has now settled into mediocrity with a high price tag.
The steaks were AMAZING
Last two times I’ve come, I haven’t been impressed. Last night we ordered soup to come before dinner. Soup never came, we had to ask for it. When it came, it came at the same time as dinner. Then it was cold. Ordered sweet potato fries - they were cold. Ordered a specific champagne for New Years - right before New year’s guy says we are out gives us a different type of champagne and doesn’t tell us what it is but, still charges us the same price as the original order, which was $21 a glass. Felt rushed the entire time.
Overall the quality of this place has slipped over time. Service and food quality at other fine dinning restaurants are much better!
Probably won’t comeback for awhile, too many other great places in the city.
A group of friends and us got together to celebrate the New Year. Food as always was delicious, ambiance was incredible, service was a bit slow but I tribute this to the occasion. All that said I do want to say that even tho the music was great it was far from the tables in a separate area altogether and the lighting effects were not the best (shinning straight into our eyes). A thought perhaps for next time!
Great times ...thanks Cafe Annie, you did it again!
The food was great, but service left something to be desired. It took 5 minutes to get menus, another 5 to get drink menus. We didn’t order drinks until we were sitting there for over 25 minutes. Once we ordered, things came out promptly but it’s not nice sitting around for a long time with only ice water.
Excellent New Year's Eve celebration/party with dancing music & photo booth.
Didn’t care for the small portions for the price. Service was excellent.
Great food...perfect service...celebrating our 15th anniversary!
Cool modern restaurant. Love the ambiance. Food was ok. Wood grilled octopus did not have grilled flavor. Was served in a cream sauce that takes away grill flavor. Snapper was also served in an orange sauce that was mediocre. Fish was tasty, sauce was ok. Coffee filet was excellent as usual
Service was very average for a fine dining restaurant like Cafe Annie .
There were bread crumbs on the table cloth, which were never cleaned by the service staff
Half the table will be served with their soup and the rest are waiting for their salad, in the
meanwhile the soup got cold while we are waiting for the salad to come for the rest of the
party. We were celebrating a friends birthday, which I had advised when making reservation.
When came time for desert, I had to repeat twice to the server that we are celebrating a
birthday, which was kind of odd to say in front of everyone, I wanted it to be a surprise.
We have been to the restaurant few times and were always pleased with everything.
Café Annie is always a fun place with great atmosphere---the steak had little flavor but this is not their specialty although they should do better; the wine list is getting overpriced at 2.5-3X retail
Appetizers were great. Main meal not amazing. During the meal the lights came on and we were seated under bright light. The manager did not know how to lower them. It was a little disruptive to the meal. I think I prefer the bar area.
Great as always!
Requested an off menu item (shrimp burger) and it was delivered with a smile!
