My wife ordered the ribeye and I ordered the filet. Her steak was cooked as ordered but was very salty And had an odd taste. My steak was also cooked to order but was very fatty and chewy which is odd for a filet. The taste was not very good either. They offered side sauces to sample and they were all bad. We ordered fries and mashed potatoes as sides. The fries were cold and very crunchy (not in a good way). My mashed potatoes were very cheesy and stringy and tasted funny.

We have been to RDG multiple times and Cafe Annie before. Normally the food is good. This time it was terrible.

I would not recommend this restaurant. One of our party became sick after eating a Caesar salad. The food was overpriced and the dishes were just fair. Our waiter was friendly but not very helpful. Never returned to ask how our food was. This restaurant is listed as one of the better places to eat in Houston, but I believe that the chefs have changed and so has the quality. Much better choices are available.

It was a relatively quiet Monday evening, a few couples and several large groups. Weather hadn’t been great and road construction on Post Oak Blvd currently. First time in the new location, my last visit was the original location 15 or more years ago. Setting and ambience was impeccable and contemporary. Cafe Annie continued its tradition of great food, service and atmosphere.

Hadn't been in ages. Really glad it's still there and presumably doing well. That said, I was a little taken aback by how sparse the crowd was on a Friday night. Maybe it's the construction on Post Oak. LaTable Chateau/Marche next door was pretty sparse as well. I bet North Italia around the corner was hopping though.

I forgot my reading glasses, which renders menus useless for me, and maitre'd Alberto lent me his, which was very friendly. Our server was very helpful and friendly as well.

Loved my redfish with chilaquiles. Little underwhelmed by the ceviche and the crab cake (which my GF mused may have come off the kids' menu because it was so small), but they were fine. Really good house salad and broccolini. Very cool upscale casual elegant vibe/ambiance, but again not a very lively crowd because it was so sparse. The couple at the next table didn't dig their steaks, surprisingly.

The other thing that struck me was that for a long, long time there were about two restaurants of this caliber in Houston - Cafe Annie and Tony's. Now there are lots and lots. Cafe Annie is still top-notch, but it's a much more crowded field now, which makes it much more difficult to stand out. The best part is that it's got no chainy vibe whatsoever. It's still a uniquely Houston place and among the best of the best.

Service was outstanding and very attentive without being overbearing. Myself and a friend went for HRW and to celebrate my birthday. They put a happy birthday sign on the wall and my table which was super cute. During dessert they also gave us 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate. The food was delicious and we would definitely come again.

We went to Cafe Annie with friends and enjoyed the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. The appetizers were all good, and entrees of redfish, shrimp with scallops and steak were also delicious. Personally, we did not care for the chilaquiles with the redfish as it was too much like migas, but the fish was good. For dessert, the fig brownie and strawberry sundae were good, but the chocolate mousse was tiny so that is a pass. Service was excellent. We will be back!

My wife and I were celebrating our 29th anniversary 28was canceled last year by Harvey.
We were greeted from the beginning by cheerful employees and things only got better. Our table was decorated for the occasion and really made us feel special. Our waiter was on his game and had some great suggestions for us. We started with the Gulf Crab Tostadas that were excellent and complemented well with the 2 accompanying sauces. Both the filet and rabbit were perfect, paired with mushrooms and roasted corn. The meal was completed by a richly flavored bread pudding and fruit cobbler. We will return again and have always been well pleased since they have opened.

I haven’t been back to Cafe Annie in a few years. They have lost their touch.
A friend wanted to try it for HRW. It was lackluster. Oysters room temperature. Entrees tasteless and desserts sub par. Waiters lacked personality and enthusiasm. Beautiful restaurant- but no depth.

Sommelier was not familiar with wine. He was not attentive to our tastings. Due to his lack of knowledge and rudeness, we walked out on our dinner reservations.

Within 5 minutes of walking distance, we enjoyed great service/wine/dinner at La Table.

We went to this Cafe Annie's as our annual anniversary since this is the place where we had dinner on the night of the engagement and we had our reception here as well. We always like this restaurant. The service and food is usually fantastic. We had a table reserved for us with a "Happy Anniversary" sign, with complimentary glass of champagne and dessert. Everything was very good as always. This was my first time ordering pheasant, and I don't think I will order it again. The flavor was good due to sauce, but the bird was tough... I am not blaming the restaurant its just the nature of the wild game.

Appetizers were great, we had oysters and ceviche - exceptionally fresh.

Complementary dessert was pecan pie with vanilla ice cream and flour less chocolate cake. Both were exceptional, especially pecan pie, and neither of us are fans of pecan pies.

Overall, it was fantastic.

Took in a Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. Food was good, well prepared, but just average for the extensive HRW menus in town. The facility, however, is aging. A/C condensation leak in dining area has been there for years. Downstairs lobby windows were filthy - nearby road construction?? The fixtures in the bathrooms were dull, corroded and loose in the lavatories. All says someone is waiting out their lease.

We have not tried out this restaurant and thought with the HRW, it's a good time to do it. Menu selection was good. We tried the osyters, soup and sald for the 1st course. All of us liked it. For the main course, the steak was cooked perfectly medium rare which is how we like it. We also had their shrimp and scallops which was very tasty. We loved out desserts too.
Service was excellent. Overall we enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back again!

My friends and I visited for Houston Restaurant weeks menu and everything was delicious. I always try out my favorite cocktail, Lemon Drop martini, and my first one was good. The second one was not as tasty. Our waiter was very attentive, and the portions were right-on for moderately hungry ladies that don't want leftovers. :)

Having considered Cafe Annie to be one of our favorite restaurants before it's closing, this was our first time to visit Cafe Annie since it's reopening. We were very disappointed! We were there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our reservation included notice of this special occasion. No mention was made by anyone during the evening. We attempted to order two wines and were told they were out! We settled on a recommended wine of the same price point and were disappointed. As for our food: the bread served was outstanding, the soups were considered good, our main dish was expensive and was almost without taste. We don't know what happened to Cafe Annie, but we will not be returning.
