Our meals were perfect and we enjoyed our time! The service was impeccable.
One disappointment was that we came for the Uptown Park restaurant month. On the restaurant month website for uptown Park, we saw that it would be $35 per person. When we got to the restaurant, however, we were told it was $45 and that the website was incorrect. Disappointing… We were there for a birthday celebration and enjoyed the ambience.
Lovely ambience, food and service.
Onion soup would have been fantastic had it been hot. Snapper tasted and smelled fishy. My husband enjoyed his prime rib. Perhaps I should have stuck to a beef entree. I found the meal disappointing. Service was excellent. Staff made a big effort to celebrate my husband’s birthday. This restaurant came highly recommended. Guess I’ll give it a second try some time in the future.
Awful food. Ambience and service OK. But food preparation and presentation was dreadful. Overpriced soup cold. The food at cafe Express and Lubys is better, seriously. Don't charge DaMarco and BCN prices for mediocre prep and presentation. Second worst meal in Houston this year. Maestros still ahead by a nose.
Everything was great. Everyone with me enjoyed every thing.
Steak house spirit, slightly elevated above steak house experience. Expect expensive protein and veg/starch to cost extra... was fine, but these places always rub me wrong. Serve me a delicious, paired meal or gtfo.
I’d say it was a good place for business; certainly that kind of place... but the waiter told us he couldn’t even split checks w/o a manager...
Don’t tell me that, get the fn manager...
This was our 2nd night at Café Annie's and there was no let down. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. My wife invited close friends and wanted them to experience the great food, cocktails, and excellent service. Café Annie's did not disappoint at all. Our friends enjoyed the atmosphere and food a great deal. We enjoyed the crab & shrimp appetizers and everyone had a different entre. My wife had the rabbit, our friends had steaks, and I had the red snapper. All the dishes were prepared well and had great presentations. We also all had dessert. The flourless chocolate cake and the pecan pie were awesome.
All good. I let them know this was our 35th wedding anniversary. Gave us a nice corner table and hung up a Happy Anniversary sign by it.
Prepared a special desert for us also.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch. The food and the service was good, and we loved the extra touches!
Overall, the appearance of the place is great, but the quality of food has really faltered. I would rate the food as average, but for the price it should be exceptional.
I used to be a big fan of the place, not sure I will go back again
Beautifully prepared and delicious food! Service was excellent from beginning to end. Elegant decor, highly recommend.
Quail was incredible
This was a horrible birthday experience... Our waiter was terrible not attending to us in a timely fashion when we were seated then rushing us to order eat and pay. Beyond disappointed and sad my birthday dinner was ruined.
All round excellent. Classic crabmeat tostadas, new crab in banana leaves. Prime rib and roasted pheasant all great. New concept includes multi person steaks. Dining room a bit dark. Ask for table near the windows. The food is great but remodeling has hurt the esthetics of the space
Dinner was amazing! Superb service This was my first time I plan to return soon
Always the best Food...
You were put at a very noisy table next to a group party next room. Door kept banging into tables during our conversations. I guess chicken was very good, however my steak came out cold.
Well prepped and served. Food looked great, especially the steaks. But... they just didn’t taste that great. They weren’t bad. Just not great.
Have not been out to Cafe Anne in years. Now I know why. Such a shame a once iconic restaurant in Houston has fallen off by so much. Don't know where to start. Appetizers were not fresh (ceviche and steak carpaccio). Prime Rib (special) was over cooked - asked for medium rare. Snapper was prepared like Migas minus the egg. $230 later and much disappointment.
Everything was great. We have dinner with friends and it was excellent. We will go back soon. Great restaurant.
Great evening celebrating a friend's birthday. We had time to relax, talk, tell stories and laughs together. We resolved to do this more often. The meal was incredible from soup to dessert.
Excellent restaurant, excellent service, amazing what they can do, especially if you let them know ahead of time if you have food allergies.
World class food and service.
Horrible service, or non-existent service. Restaurant was completely empty, but moved us to another table for a larger party that Emma’s coming in. It never showed up and we were there for over 2 hours. Had to ask for menus, twice. Had to ask for drink menu. Food was ok nothing special considering this is supposed to be a Houston institution. Atmosphere was dated, even though it’s the new location. We were a party of 6 they added the tip to the bill. Asked for coffees after the bill arrived. Then the valet was no where to be found. Had to call the restaurant to send them.
There are plenty of beautiful restaurants in Houston with outstanding food. This is not one of them.
Out of town guest
My “new” husband and I chose Cafe Annie for an early dinner ... after our casual and amusing civil ceremony for marriage. It was one of those Days when you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day to dine alfresco in Houston. The food was wonderful and their wine selection is great!
The road work on Post Oak Blvd. is ongoing... and does diminish the outdoors experience, but by 4:30-5:00 the construction work is winding down. I can see how it has taken a toll on the exterior space of the restaurant... but I’m sure they must have some amazing remodeling plans for the terrace when the road work is complete.
One of our favorite Houston restaurants that never fails to exceed expectations.
Loved our experience at Cafe Annie. Wonderful food and the waitstaff made it extra special for our anniversary.
Great dinner with friends. Wonderful food and service.
Great food and love the new decor!!
Food was excellent. Service was great.
Mixed experience but not the excellent one I was expecting given the reviews and prices. Hostess seated me quickly. Someone brought me a glass of water. Someone else brought me a menu but never came back. Someone else asked me if I wanted to order something...well yes, didn’t just come for water! Asked for wine list, ordered wine which was brought promptly then waited for someone to take my food order. Finally Enrique came to take my order, answered my questions, and was very attentive after that. House salad and petite filet skewers from bar menu were both perfectly prepared and delicious.
Great food, beautiful buffet, staff very helpful to older cousin who uses a cane.
Excellent experience across the board
My wife and I went to Café Annie's for the first time and enjoyed ourselves very much. Everything from the cocktails to the gluten free chocolate desert was fantastic. My wife & I shared the Yellow tail appetizer and then she had a kale salad and I had the mushroom soup. We both had the pheasant for our entrees. The restaurant was very vibrant and great for people watching. Our server was very attentive and didn't rush us at all. It was one of the best dinners out we've had in a very long time.
Café Annie is one of our all time favorites but our last visit on St. Patrick's Day was a disappointment. Juan was our waiter and was not attentive. Confused our wine order which delayed service for about 15 minutes, seemed a lot longer. Had to ask another waiter for a basket of bread that he immediately delivered. Wife's fish dish was excellent. My salmon dish was mushy and below par for Café Annie. I would not write this review but for this: we had a $175 American Express gift card (our bill was more than $175). I informed Juan the amount of the gift card and gave him my personal credit card for the balance. He returned and said the American Express only had $125 balance and charged the balance to my card. Got home and checked balance on gift card--it was a value of $175 and had been charged $150, not $125.
First time visit. Arrived downstairs with no direction or person to let us know that we were suppose to go upstairs, but we figured it out. Beautiful restaurant, very quite for a Friday night had always heard this was an IT place to see and be seen. Food was good but for the price of the filet mignon it does not rate as high as Mastros and Stk 48. Service and wait staff were great and very attentive. Will go back to try brunch, heard it was very good.
Haven't been in years. Excellent!!
We did not have to wait for a table when we arrived. The ambiance is very nice,
service very good, food excellent.
As always, Cafe Annie is an incredible experience! The atmosphere is so fun, the staff so professional and kind, and the dishes coming out of the kitchen are unforgettable!!!!
