Excellent restaurant, excellent service, amazing what they can do, especially if you let them know ahead of time if you have food allergies.

Horrible service, or non-existent service. Restaurant was completely empty, but moved us to another table for a larger party that Emma’s coming in. It never showed up and we were there for over 2 hours. Had to ask for menus, twice. Had to ask for drink menu. Food was ok nothing special considering this is supposed to be a Houston institution. Atmosphere was dated, even though it’s the new location. We were a party of 6 they added the tip to the bill. Asked for coffees after the bill arrived. Then the valet was no where to be found. Had to call the restaurant to send them.

There are plenty of beautiful restaurants in Houston with outstanding food. This is not one of them.

My “new” husband and I chose Cafe Annie for an early dinner ... after our casual and amusing civil ceremony for marriage. It was one of those Days when you couldn’t ask for a more beautiful day to dine alfresco in Houston. The food was wonderful and their wine selection is great!

The road work on Post Oak Blvd. is ongoing... and does diminish the outdoors experience, but by 4:30-5:00 the construction work is winding down. I can see how it has taken a toll on the exterior space of the restaurant... but I’m sure they must have some amazing remodeling plans for the terrace when the road work is complete.

Mixed experience but not the excellent one I was expecting given the reviews and prices. Hostess seated me quickly. Someone brought me a glass of water. Someone else brought me a menu but never came back. Someone else asked me if I wanted to order something...well yes, didn’t just come for water! Asked for wine list, ordered wine which was brought promptly then waited for someone to take my food order. Finally Enrique came to take my order, answered my questions, and was very attentive after that. House salad and petite filet skewers from bar menu were both perfectly prepared and delicious.

My wife and I went to Café Annie's for the first time and enjoyed ourselves very much. Everything from the cocktails to the gluten free chocolate desert was fantastic. My wife & I shared the Yellow tail appetizer and then she had a kale salad and I had the mushroom soup. We both had the pheasant for our entrees. The restaurant was very vibrant and great for people watching. Our server was very attentive and didn't rush us at all. It was one of the best dinners out we've had in a very long time.

Café Annie is one of our all time favorites but our last visit on St. Patrick's Day was a disappointment. Juan was our waiter and was not attentive. Confused our wine order which delayed service for about 15 minutes, seemed a lot longer. Had to ask another waiter for a basket of bread that he immediately delivered. Wife's fish dish was excellent. My salmon dish was mushy and below par for Café Annie. I would not write this review but for this: we had a $175 American Express gift card (our bill was more than $175). I informed Juan the amount of the gift card and gave him my personal credit card for the balance. He returned and said the American Express only had $125 balance and charged the balance to my card. Got home and checked balance on gift card--it was a value of $175 and had been charged $150, not $125.

First time visit. Arrived downstairs with no direction or person to let us know that we were suppose to go upstairs, but we figured it out. Beautiful restaurant, very quite for a Friday night had always heard this was an IT place to see and be seen. Food was good but for the price of the filet mignon it does not rate as high as Mastros and Stk 48. Service and wait staff were great and very attentive. Will go back to try brunch, heard it was very good.

Service is best described as indifferent - which is understandable as the service charge for our table of 6 was fixed at 20%. I dropped a fork on the floor as the food was being served and waited a good 5 min for the waiter to come back and finally gave up and picked up a fork from an unused table. They took way too long to take our orders - we had to look for the waiter every time we needed him. Food was only fair - my rib-eye steak ($45) was very thin and almost tasteless. Cafe Annie has hit bottom as far as I am concerned!

Dined here with my wife and friends for Valentines dinner. As a former fan of the old Cafe Annie, it was our first time at this new restaurant.

The table and ambiance were great, a beautiful restaurant well decorated for Valentines Day.

The service was slow, very slow, and inattentive. Observing our waiter, he was working hard but clearly was overloaded with tables, stretched too thin. He was polite and friendly, and recognized the shortcomings that we were seeing, and tried to adjust and compensate. But the meal was slow and we often found ourselves waiting on something - especially first drinks, and the bill at the end. And our order was mixed up more than once with the wrong drink delivered, a missing dessert, and lack of after dinner coffee that had been ordered.

The food was just so-so. It was presented warm, not hot, suggesting a problem in the kitchen, and based on several other reviews, this needs to be addressed ASAP. The appetizers were great, with the crab tostadas being the absolute best of the evening. The coffee crusted ribeye was a great piece of meat but was not up to serving temperature and lacked flavor.

Overall, a letdown for us from a restaurant that used to be the pacesetter in Houston’s culinary circles.

The crab tostada was excellent, as was the wine and the service. However, my steak was among the worst I've ever had at an upscale restaurant; tough, underdone, chewy. The polenta was OK, but barely. This place isn't worth the money.

I must admit I was disappointed. The Crab Tostadas were great as usual and the crab cake was good. The two fish dishes we ordered - snapper and salmon, were not cooked with any particular care. Neither was worthy of Cafe Annie. The wine was good but VERY expensive and I bought one of the lowest priced wines. The new decor is jarring. Not what I expected at all.

I am a long time patron but the newest incarnation does not satisfy me. The prices are high and the satisfaction does not match. Reserve this one for people who are impressed by the past history and who are on expense accounts. I probably will not be back. There are too many great restaurants in Houston at much more reasonable prices and who know how to cook fish.

I have been visiting Cafe Annie for several years. It has undergone many transformations in appearance, appeal, and menu choices. This place was always about presentation and I was willing to pay a top dollar for a decent food... until today.
I have ordered a Tuna salad. In parentheses, it clearly said "Ahi Tuna". When the waiter brought the dish, it looked strange. The tuna looked and tasted like canned tuna from Kroger. I asked him and he assured me that tune was cooked in their kitchen. I have eaten tuna before and this was not a tuna salad. $20 for canned tuna. I think I am done with this place.

Celebrated Valentines Day with a lunch there. It definitely lived up to its reputation of being one of Houston's top restaurants. The food was gourmet: even the basic house salad had a fantastic vinaigrette; the skewered filet mignon was cooked just right; and the red fish on chilaquiles was a unique and winning combination. The service was friendly and spot-on. Can't wait for the road construction on Post Oak Blvd to be completed!

Everything was great except having to go downstairs to use the restroom. The stairs are kind of treacherous for those of us who have depth-perception challenges. Maybe a black line on each of the steps or some sort of different color for the area beneath the steps would help. I felt as though I had to hold on for dear life in order to make it up and down the stairs.

We actually went to the PRIME ROOM for a birthday dinner. It was very good, although, I should have had the Au Jus sauce on the side and not on top of the Prime Rib, additionally, the Horseradish sauce the same, on the side. Perhaps they could place these items in a small dipping dish(s). It seemed my Steak was swimming in sauce by the middle of my meal !! Cocktails, Wine and Service were Primo !!!!! Thank You Cafe Annie ;)

I hadn’t been to Cafe Annie in 16 years so I wanted to take my parents there when I came back in town. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the food was interesting and tasted great. The only complaint was how long it took between plates, while the restaurant was seemingly not very busy. Based on this experience I’ll probably choose another restaurant next time I’m in town, although, again, the food/menu is interesting and the food was delicious.

Last two times I’ve come, I haven’t been impressed. Last night we ordered soup to come before dinner. Soup never came, we had to ask for it. When it came, it came at the same time as dinner. Then it was cold. Ordered sweet potato fries - they were cold. Ordered a specific champagne for New Years - right before New year’s guy says we are out gives us a different type of champagne and doesn’t tell us what it is but, still charges us the same price as the original order, which was $21 a glass. Felt rushed the entire time.

Overall the quality of this place has slipped over time. Service and food quality at other fine dinning restaurants are much better!

Probably won’t comeback for awhile, too many other great places in the city.
