Delicious and wonderful service
Attended Cafe amici’s before the Sarasota Opera. Marie, our server was a delight!
Veal Piccata, one of my favorites was prepared wonderfully.
Great evening meal! Good food attentive and unitrusive service. Appropriate wine selection. We’ll be back! Desert was super !
The food selection was delicious and the wines were delightful!
Very authentic and delicious. The service was wonderful and the meal felt like we were in Italy. Felt family run and was a delight.
Awesome meal.. great service. Comprehensive and a good value wine list. Staff were spot on.. we will definitely go back soon!
Above average Italian restaurant, family owned with some wines from the village of the owners. Nice enough, quick service. Seems like it has a roster of regulars.
Service was awful
Waiter did not care.
Food was salty.
When spoke to waiter + Owner.
They did not care or answer any questions.
Final straw was ordered dessert waiter came back to table 20 minutes later and said they were working on it
Would not recommend this Restaurant
Even with reservations made us wait 25 minutes
Experience fabulous....first date night!
Went for our wedding anniversary. Service was great. I don’t, however, like when nothing is written down. My entire arrived completely wrong. Given the time it took, I didn’t say anything. It was delicious, but it was not what I wanted. Still happy to have gone there.
As I stated overall was the excellent. Our server was not very knowledgeable about certain items and was not very polished. It didn’t deter us from enjoying our meal which was fresh and delicious. This was our 3rd time there and we will definitely be back.
Owned and operated by one of the savviest and professional individuals in all of Sarasota, Cafe Amici offers a second to none dining experience. From fine wine to exquisite cuisine, Amici brings the taste and flair of Italy to downtown’s Main Street. I’d recommend to any and all who are looking for good times and good people.
The noise level in the restaurant is very disconcerting. While the quality of the food was acceptable, it was not as tasty and less well presented than expected. Service was acceptable.
Great food and ambiance! Perfect for date night. Very authentic Italian- the wine, bread, burrata special, Caesar salad and pasta were all divine.
AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL.
Service was rushed, rude and had attitude. And they got our order completely wrong.
Very disappointing experience. Will never go back.
Awesome food. Great wine list. Friendly and good Service. Crowded and loud.
The food was amazing, small portions though. Our server was intoxicated so the whole night was a hilarious show. We did get the right food but our checks were a mess.
This place has an "old world" and family "feel" which is refreshing. The wait staff are knowledgeable and attentive (but not hovering). They seem to have fun describing the specials in great, delicious detail. Pasta was fresh made, and desserts were good. We had Osso Bucco, Egplant Parm and a scallop special which were all tasty. Grilled octopus (appetizer) was done perfectly. A fun place to go in downtown Sarasota. One of our favorites.
If your looking for authentic Italian food this is your place !!!! Amazing pastas and seafood ..great service....
We spent our Valentine's Day here and we felt the prices were high for what we were served. My fiancé had the scallops which arrived (3) on a bed of steamed vegetables for $42. He said it was very bland. I had the lamb ragu over pappardelle $30 and there was hardly any lamb and mostly mushrooms in the sauce. Also the pappardelle was not homemade or authentic. The triple layer chocolate mousse was delicious and they do have a decent wine list.
We went to Cafe Amici for Valentines Day. It was busy and that is a good thing. We had a reservation so we were seated immediately. Overall everything was good just not as wonderful as our 1st experience on December 30th. The food just wasn't as flavorful to us. I had a chicken dish and my husband had seafood. Chicken with sun dried tomatoes was good but needed more flavor, the seafood was very good! The Prosecco was very good too! Wish I could have ordered the Lasagna again but that was not on the menu. Definitely will be back.
I had heard this was a very romantic restaurant and as an Italian trained chef, I was very disappointed in the food overall. The roasted garlic with the bread and our calamari was awesome. 36 dollars for 3 scallops.... give me a break...even dry pack scallops are no where near that price. My pappardelle bolognese was nice but the portion was so small, it should have been listed as a small plate.
It was a romantic evening and we were sat next to the entrance to the kitchen. My shoulder was hit at least 5 to 6 times with employees going in to the back.
I am sorry...but for the reviews... this place is on the bottom of another visit from us.
Average , food was so so.
Food and service were excellent. An authentic Italian dining experience. Definitely worth going to.
Great staff. Food was cooked perfectly and arrived in a timely manner. Excellent ambiance as well!
Cafe Amici is a favorite restaurant of ours. We enjoy being there for an intimate dinner as well as meeting with friends & acquaintances. The food & service is always supberb!
As usual, we had a very nice evening at Cafe Amici. We go before the opera and they were very timely with ordering and service. The food was delicious as was the wine.
I make it every few months to Cafe Amici and am never disappointed! Food is always great, fabulous wine selection and wonderful people.
They just brought in my favorite beer on tap, Innis and Gunn; it’s an amazing Scottish Ale and I have never seen on tap anywhere. Just another reason to go back.
Thanks for another great dining experience.
Che bella sera at Cafe Amici! My team came to Sarasota for a strategy workshop and I treated them to Cafe Amici. We were warmly greeted by owner Massimo and within minutes we were tasting a delicious Aglianico from Puglia while sharing antipasti (burata, calamari, etc) made for the table. For secondo I had the amazing osso bucco with pappardelle and others enjoyed the grilled veal chop and homemade squid ink ravioli stuffed with lobster. We all shared the dishes and everyone raved about the preparation. We shared a variety of desserts - one more delicious than the next. Don't miss Cafe Amici when in Sarasota - cozy dining with excellent cuisine and service.
Very very disappointing visit to a restaurant we have eaten in many times. First of all, the place was so loud we could not hear each other across a tiny table. Behind us was a table of 3 loud mouth lawyers (one demonstrating his "manspread" powerpose while screaming into his cell phone) trying to regale at the top of their lungs the entire restaurant with the details of their most recent motion hearing. Certainly not the restaurants fault, but ruined the meal anyway.
I had the short ribs, and expected some fat, but the meat I received was mostly all fat. I could not even eat all of it, and was very uncomfortable for hours afterward. I wonder if the chef even looked at the short rib cuts before purchasing them? My wife had veal in mushroom sauce that was totally tasteless. My meal was served in an oven heated 500 deg. bowl, and therefore very hot. My wife's dish was just warm. Salads and appetizers were acceptable, albeit quite pricey.
Service was spotty at best.
Sadly, in Sarasota on season, many restaurants have learned that they can serve Alpo on Wonder bread and still pack the joint. We'll eat at home until June, and then somewhere other than Cafe Amici.
Outstanding food, great wine list and service!!
We had a group of 4 for dinner. The waitress struggled with her tables and we were the losers. She forgot part of the order and blamed it on the kitchen. Amici has been a reliable restaurant for a long time with good Italian fare and reasonable wines. This particular evening was very disappointing but we never give up on one and experience,,, we'll definitely go back and hopefully they will have their act together
Our waiter was aloof and disinterested. He recited the menu by rote and seemed rather bored. Having said this, everything was served without any errors (he didn’t write the order down) and the food was delicious.
Two of the four diners had lovely meals. The two who ordered the veal (a very expensive special) found the meat so tough that we could not eat it. We told our server that the Chef should be informed so that the supplier would know. She did not seem interested.
This is the first time this has happened to us at this restaurant and we were quite surprised.
There were four of us. Three really enjoyed our meals. One not so much.
Delicious food and wonderful service!
Terrific fool and service as usual. Best Italian in the city!
A true Italian restaurant experience. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The service was excellent. The food was well presented and mouth watering. We had several pasta dishes and the pasta was perfectly cooked and the sauces were delicious. I had the Tomahawk Veal Chop and was cooked to perfection. We tried the owners red wine from his town in Italy. The Primivito was bold with a smooth rich taste. This is a wine you should order. This is a gem on Main Street of Sarasota. Well worth the stop.
Good food good friends & good time.
We went there on a Thursday evening with an Open Table 5:15 reservation and were promptly seated by our server as the restaurant had just opened. We ordered martinis and upon delivery were very impressed by our server's memory of all the details of the specials. We shared a salad with olives and then ordered our entrees. Having been there before I asked if I could have veal parmigiana in lieu of the veal piccata that was on the menu. When our dinners arrived we were asked if we cared for another drink, she opted for water and I ordered a glass of red wine. My veal parm was quite large, but less tender than previous meals. Our server never returned with my glass of wine and when she came to see if we wanted dessert I informed her of not receiving my wine and we ordered the dessert. She said she'd take it off the bill and give us a glass of wine to share on her. I asked if the pasta and small piece of veal could be placed in a doggie bag to take to our two dogs. The dessert came but the glass of wine that was offered didn't. When the bill came I saw that I was served the veal chop that was a special for $42 not the $26 dollar veal parm I expected, but as I ate it nothing was mentioned. After paying the bill I asked if my doggie bag had been forgotten, which it was and a small amount of pasta was given as a replacement. What started off great went quickly downhill.
