About Cafe Amelie

Please note that the courtyard is seated on a first come, first serve basis. Keep in mind during rainy/cold days we may utilize our upstairs Blue Room. There is no elevator access. If you have a preference, let us know when making your reservation.

We normally allow reservation space for only 50% of the dining room to accommodate walk-ins.

Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Café Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting.

Café Amelie and the accompanying Princess of Monaco Courtyard are also available for private parties, weddings and receptions.

There is an $8.00 per person charge for all desserts served that are not from our kitchens.

The place is magically beautiful especially if you are sitting in the courtyard. Make sure you note that request in your reservation, otherwise they will say you didn’t have a preference. Our server, Greg, was very pleasant, attentive and friendly. He even gave us a glimpse of the history of the place. We were there for brunch. We ordered the shrimps, Sunny side eggs with grits, frittata and the poutine. Everything was so delicious and tasted authentic. Would certainly go back anytime I am in New Orleans.

This is one of our favorite places when we visit the French Quarter. We especially enjoy the outdoor patio dining. Great service, very good food and very friendly staff...

Café Amelie was absolutely fantastic! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and an excellent location. I have a gluten allergy and our server gave me all the information to find the perfect meal for us. We started with the brussel sprouts, bacon, and dates which is an excellent combination. My partner had the double cut pork chop and I enjoyed the lamb special for the evening. Both meals were excellent, hearty and satisfying.

We were excited to eat in their lovely courtyard but unfortunately the weather was not cooperating with us so we dined in their coach house. The lower floor of the couch house was quite harming and intimate. However they had these ceiling fans with horrible bright white lighting that was really distracting. They could definitely improve the ambiance by making a quick change there.
The food was great. My husband had the special pasta with a poblano cream sauce. It was spicy and delicious. I had the shrimp And grits starter which was perfectly sized for me with three shrimp and some sausage. We both ordered a salad with our meal but the size of the salads was insanely large. They could definitely offer a smaller portion as a pre dinner option. These felt like the size you might get if the salad was your entire meal neither of us finished the salads and there was so much left that it felt really wasteful
The service was very nice and they were attentive.
Our only other complaint weather noise level. For a romantic ambiance such as theirs the noise level was so loud that it was often hard to hear my husband. We were so glad that we had a late reservation and the restaurant started to clear out. We were finally able to hear one another without all of the loud conversations.

I love Cafe Amelie, It has become tradition to have lunch there when I arrive to New Orleans. I love the Amelie Drink and the menu is great for a light lunch if you are looking for light. Great ambiance and I adored the outdoor courtyard!

Gumbo and ahi tuna were exceptional. I am a huge shrimp And grits fan.. but was disappointed in them. We sat inside overlooking the patio and the windows were filthy.

The ambiance of the space is wonderful, Because of the low temperatures we were inside the maionette. Although a relatively small space the noise level was suitable.
We had shrimp and grits and the salmon, both were very good, Also the brussel sprots were great

This is a beautiful location to bring a date or that special one, but it is even good for groups or families. It has a Cozy patio and great food. I had the veal shank...outstanding! My wife enjoyed two appetizers...shrimp and grits, and oysters in a spinach and artichoke sauce. Staff was friendly and service was very good. We went at night, but I would love to return again when it is still light out. It is worth a visit.

Totally completely underwhelmed. The place is far too loud, but the alcohol is selling, so they could care less about the noise level. Unfortunately, I was seated beside two groups of obnoxious alcoholics. In my reservation, I specified that I was celebrating an anniversary. That was not taken into consideration. We were seated in the bar area. The table was leaning and almost fell when I slightly leaned on it. The salmon and asparagus were good. The potatoes were hard and cold. The place sucks overall, especially if you're not an alcoholic like majority of the patrons. Scenery is pleasant outside. It's picturesque! Don't be fooled.

We ate lunch and were served cold jalapeño rolls. The food was ok, definitely pricey. Place is over rated for sure. I don’t mind paying for quality but I can cook a hell of a lot better and then the waitress told us she could only take 2 credit cards when web site says 4. I was really disappointed but later that night was redeemed with good food at Jacques imos. They know how to cook and gave us hot buttered corn muffins at the beginning of our dining experience. Maybe they could coach Cafe Amalelie.

The ambiance at Cafe Amelie makes it the perfect place. The courtyard is gorgeous but the inside is cozy and lovely, too. Our food was amazing. The server seemed tired and annoyed but that was the only minor complaint. Everything else was amazing!!

Cafe Amelie is such a special place. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, as are the servers. We enjoyed our food immensely - perhaps the best food in New Orleans - and can't wait to return. Order the pork chop!!

Great food, good selection and service.
Fresh well prepared ingredients and everything made to order. Booked through Open Table and was a breeze. Ambience was charmingly historical and a fine example of the French Quarter. Considering all of this, the prices are very reasonable and we highly recommend this as a New Orleans must dine experience!

We made reservations for a Friday evening at 6 pm. It was very cool outside so we were happy to be inside. The outside dining area inside a walled court yard was really wonderful. They had some flaming gas torches for lighting (and some heat this evening). It was quite romantic and I'm sure a lot less noisy. All I'll say about the food is that it was my best meal in the 3 weeks we were in town. It was creative, very tasty and just the right amount to be satisfying. My son and wife both agreed with my assessment. While we have a "rule" not to eat in the same place twice on our trip, I was sire tempted by Amelie.
