Please note that the courtyard is seated on a first come, first serve basis. A reservation does not guarantee seating in the courtyard but we will have a table available inside our beautiful, historic carriage house. Keep in mind during rainy/cold days we may utilize our upstairs Blue Room. There is no elevator access. If you have a preference, let us know when making your reservation.

We normally allow reservation space for only 50% of the dining room to accommodate walk-ins.

Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Café Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting.

Café Amelie and the accompanying Princess of Monaco Courtyard are also available for private parties, weddings and receptions.

There is an $8.00 per person charge for all desserts served that are not from our kitchens.

We loved our experience at Cafe Amelie. We had the option to wait a couple minutes for a courtyard table or sit right away at a window table-chose the window, but it was a tough choice- the courtyard is lovely! Michael was our server- attentive and great personality! Beet salad, shrimp and grits and seared ahi all were excellent. We’d go back again in a heartbeat!

I went there with a friend for a 5pm seating and found this place to be the best restaurant in New Orleans hands down! They got 5 stars in every department-food, drinks, service, ambience, etc! I’d highly recommend to everyone!!

We had dinner on the nicely lit patio on a pleasant Thursday evening. The restaurant was full, but not crowded. There was some noise, but it was easy to talk. The waitstaff was pleasant and the service was very good. The food was good. We had fish: fresh and well-prepared.

My husband and I stopped in to enjoy a small lunch for our wedding anniversary. The ambiance is impeccable, absolutely beautiful, tranquil outdoor seating. Food was good, nothing I haven’t had before, nonetheless nothing was wrong with it. We did keep our meals simple with a cup of gumbo and the shrimp and grits. I do look forward to going back and trying a few other dishes.

Beautiful experience with comforting food and pleasant staff and atmosphere. A little cool for dining outside on our evening. Inside is more than charming. We both had the pasta special with crawfish tails. Just so tasty. And, not enough can be said about their creamy tomato soup. Outstanding on every turn.

Cheers to all!

It was great! Sat in the patio service was slow but we weren’t in any rush. Poor guy he probably was overwhelmed with tables. So glad we had reservations!!

We have eaten lunch at Cafe Amelie many times when we are in New Orleans. It has always been unflaggingly great food and atmosphere. The menu changes periodically but the level of excellence has always been superior for all of our visits. We specifically enjoy the quiet ambiance of the garden setting.

The food was great I would definitively recommend the the gumbo. The salmon cake was average. The reason for the low score is because of the service my husband and I received. Other waiters and waitresses give out bread we had to ask for bread. Several people was seated after us and they received their food way before we did. After we ate it took over 20 minutes to get our check I had to chase our waitress down to get our check..

It was a stormy rainy day for our visit to Nola, but Cafe Amelie made for a lovely and cozy brunch inside the older building (which felt kind of like eating in an old European museum, in the best way), and overlooking a super cute patio space which I'm sure is wonderful on a sunny day!

Food quality has gone downhill from previous visits. Asked if Asian Shrimp Salad ingredients were pre-mixed as I did not want one on the list. Would have been happy to pick it out unless the salad could be made to order, which I was told was the case. When the salad arrived, it only had lettuce and shrimp drenched in salad dressing. All the ingredients listed on the menu were missing because the salad turned out to be pre-mixed! The Amelie Muffuletta, a "must" on prior visits, was mediocre at best. Bloody Mary seemed off too. Perhaps this was an off day but my desire to return is greatly diminished after the food quality of recent visit.

We missed visiting Cafe Amelie on our last trip to New Orleans so we made sure to make reservations when a return trip to NOLA occurred. Outside on the patio was lovely but the chairs are really uncomfortable whether you are large or petite. The wait person was wonderful and helpful and we enjoyed our food. The pork chop and salmon were fine. a specialty jerk pork dish was a bit dry. Another problem was that, unbelievably they were out of balsamic vinegar so our preferences for appetizers and salads were limited. We had the burrata anyway and it was okay. They also have a very limited wine list by the glass. All in all, I wanted to love this place and ended up disappointed.

Cafe Amelie is a "must do" for me every time I visit New Orleans. The outdoor courtyard is one of the prettiest, most romantic, in the quarter and the food is excellent.

On our previous regular visits to New Orleans, we were unable to coordinate our schedules/ activities with the days the restaurant is open. This time we made the coordination work and the result was a FABULOUS TREAT!! There is NOTHING that isn't outstanding about Cafe Amelie. From the ambiance of the wonderful outside courtyard dining experience to the knowledgeable server staff and , of course, on to the food. We had the shrimp and grits appetizer and it was FABULOUS !! We followed with the pork tenderloin special and the chicken dinner entree and they were both OUTSTANDING! WHAT A GREAT PLACE !! Cafe Amelie has moved to the top of our list for dining on our regular trips to New Orleans.

Romantic & aesthetically pleasing.

I was in New Orleans for WrestleMania weekend, but wanted to start off the trip with a romantic date night. My girlfriend and I were both very pleased with Cafe Amelie. We had an 8:30 reservation, showed up 10 minutes early, and had no wait. We were seated outside by the fountain, service was quick and polite, even though you're in a courtyard full of other people it feels intimate enough to have private conversation. We split the poutine and the pasta special. Both were good. 5 stars if you're looking for a date spot.

The outdoor dining setting alone is worth 5 stars. Best shrimp and grits. Best service. Amazing meatloaf dish (they call it a sandwich, but so much more). Veggie pasta was not great, but probably due to the fact that not many vegetables were in season for this one (waaay to many peppers). Highly recommend.

Highlight of our trip. Well worth the time to visit and relax. Outdoor patio is one of the best I have ever experienced.

Seasonal & fresh ingredients made the difference.

I avoid shrimp when dining as it is often imported and previously frozen then overcooked to hide that fact. I savor shrimp in communities where I know it is fresh and prepared correctly.

My new favorite in New Orleans. Best shrimp and grits (appetizer) that I’ve ever had and I’ve sampled quite a few. Place was very full on a Thursday night. However their courtyard provides a nice place to sit with a drink if you need to wait for your table. Don’t go without a reservation. I saw a number of people turned away. Not sure what they do in the summer when it gets warm as their inside seating is pretty limited.
