Nestled in the historic 150-year-old Princess of Monaco Courtyard and Carriage House on Royal Street in the French Quarter, Café Amelie is a rare combination of superb Louisiana fare served in a lush, enchanting New Orleans courtyard setting.
There is an $8.00 per person charge for all desserts served that are not from our kitchens.
Very fresh and delicious. Top notch ingredients. Server was amazing! Thin blond lady, forgot her name but she’s an asset to this fine establishment. We sat inside because it was hot. A bit noisy but not too bad. The garden is beautiful and we will sit there next time, weather permitting. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality you get. I highly recommend this place!
Amazing hostess! Very helpful, patient and kind.
The ambiance is truly unique.
Loved it! Will be back!
Cafe Amelie is one of my favorites in New Orleans. Have never had a bad meal or bad service and the courtyard is precious. Hidden gem on Royal!
We tucked into this adorable cafe in the crazy heat of a very hot September for lunch.
I sipped an orange blossom mimosa. I could have downed 5 more.
I recommend the shrimp and grits. The gumbo was good but not outstanding. The Hub drank a few beers with his gumbo.
It was a nice respite from some of the tacky, honky tonk eateries featuring alligator and Drinks to Go.
We sat outside and even though the day was very warm, it was pleasant with the fans. Enjoyed a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits.
We were greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" from the hostess. Our waiter didn't seem to know. Great outdoor spot with the fan aiming right at us. Very romantic for our anniversary. The food was delish. It was the chef's special, blackened catfish. It was really good. Drinks were awesome too. Would definitely recommend.
My favorite restaurant in New Orleans! The food and service is great!
Loved the ambience , very disappointed with the food. Curry chicken salad was tasteless. The fig and goat cheese bread was also not memorable.
Amazing service and a perfect date spot! Food was excellent and atmosphere was fabulous. Would recommend for birthdays or date nights.
Beautiful scenic patio. Wonderful and elegant. Food wad fantastic. We had the lamb meatloaf and roasted pork chop. Outstanding dining experience and great value. Ambiance was perfect for my wife and i and our high end casual date night.
Serene and beautiful garden setting with attentive service and delicious cuisine. Recommend reserving a table mid-week in the afternoon.
The meal was delicious , the pasta jambalaya left me wanting to figure out how to make it at home! Our martinis were made perfectly and I’m picky!!
Cafe Amelie’s ambiance was great! The food was just ok though. Not super impressed for the prices. I got the salmon and it was undercooked and my boyfriend got the pasta special and was not blown away either. We also had a server that was not very attentive and seemed annoyed to even be at work that evening. Location and atmosphere were great and would recommend for drinks only but not the food.
We always enjoy lunch in Cafe Amelie’s dog-friendly courtyard with our dog, Lola. Great Aperol Spritz, good wine list and specialty cocktails. Soups, salads, entrees, and sandwiches complete the menu.
The staff suggestions were great, they took great care of us.
Charming outdoor seating. The online reservations were great, also.
Hostess sort of unfriendly at check in even with reservations. Service was pretty slow but waitress was friendly enough. Food was great (especially shrimp and grits) I’ve eaten here before and drinks were always good but a bit off this last time. Hostess last time was rude. Food is always consistent here. Outside is charming if a bit buggy. Overall I’d recommend if those caveats are not an issue for you. Just wish the people who greet you at check in would be more professional and friendly.
My second time & my husband’s first time.
Had such a wonderful experience at Cafe Amelie! Delicious food, tasty drinks and excellent service/ambience. Sit on the picturesque patio if you can and the get the shrimp and grits - they are a must!!
It was my favorite person’s birthday
My boyfriend and I had dinner here for our anniversary, and it was amazing! The setting is gorgeous, and the staff is so sweet! When booking the reservation we were able to choose that it was for our anniversary, and they brought us out a free little treat! It was very sweet. The items are a bit expensive, but we knew that going in there. Would definitely recommend.
Food was good but the service was disinterested at best. We arrived after 8 and all anyone could talk to us about was how they were closing the kitchen at 8:45 and if we wanted to eat we had to order quickly. The whole wait staff acted like they couldn't wait to go home. There are many other options in the French quarter. Look elsewhere.
Don’t waste your time and money on such place.
I was expecting a decent breakfast. The plate came out as if it was in the refrigerator for quite some time so I had to return it because it tasted disgusting. Ordered a salad instead and I still regret every single dollar I spent there.
Just go to Meril and you won’t want to go anywhere else
PERFECT SPOT FOR A SUNDAY BRUNCH WILL RETURN FOR DINNER IN A FEW WEEKS.
The courtyard is lush and beautiful with plants and trees. There is so much shade we were very comfortable sitting outside in July for brunch. Service was excellent and everything we ate was delicious! I highly recommend Cafe Amelie.
Lovely oasis in the heart of all the craziest of NOLA. We we able to eat in the courtyard under the beautiful tree canopies in July. Service was wonderful and the menu was well done
Lovely date night
We really enjoyed dining outdoors in the lovely courtyard. The food was delicious and we definitely recommend it.
Every time we are in NOLA Cafe Amelie is a go to place for dinner. The meals have been great and sitting in the courtyard is wonderful. This past Tuesday they were off their game a bit. Maybe it was the rain that closed the courtyard and had to seat everyone inside. It was not that busy. I ordered the pasta special of the day. It was linquine and shrimp in garlic sauce. It tasted fine but I only had 3 small to medium shrimp in the dish. My dining partner had the lamb meatloaf. It was a bit dry and crusty around the edge and the thyme seasoning was overwhelming. We mentioned it to our server and she offered us a complimentary dessert - Creole cheesecake. It was not really tasty until you ate to the crust. Like I said.. A bit of an off day. It happens
Server was very good he recommended that we try shrimp and grits it was very good and this is coming from a person who is not a big seafood eater I would recommend this place to others
The food was absolutely delicious.
We had our anniversary dinner at 6:30 pm in 7/19 and it was a good experience. We wanted to sit outside in the courtyard but it was a blazing hot day so we sat inside and was seated near the bar. It Was not the romantic setting I was seeking but the food was good and the service was also. I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. We are locals and know what to expect in New Orleans.
This is a jewel in the heart of the French Quarter. The food is casual and delicious. The garden is the place to be, with a fountain and beautiful old trees framing the brick buildings, it is a romantic bistro setting. We actually witnessed a young man proposing to his girlfriend!
Great food and service! It’s a must when visiting New Orleans.
Fantastic service & ambience. Salmon was over cooked: oysters were superb.
Cafe Amelie is by far one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. I went here for a birthday dinner during Essence Fest. It was surprisingly very quiet and quaint for the city to be so packed. The service was great and the food was absolutely amazing. I took a bit of everyone's entree at my table and I was not disappointed. The food is fresh and well seasoned. I can eat here for brunch or dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Plus the ambience outside is great for photo opps!
beautiful outside setting, fabulous food and friendly staff
The food was surprisingly uninspired. They rely heavily on pasta making most of their dishes bland.
Spectacular, shaded courtyard for dining with fountain. Excellent service and food. A wonderful way to spend a few hours.
Great setting, awesome food, really good service. The Brussels sprouts were perfectly crunchy and roasted and the dates and bacon on top were spot on. The lamb meatloaf is to die for, ordered it because I had been craving meatloaf, this was incredibly flavorful.
This place was very nice because of the outside seating. The food was delicious. The portions were a bit small but if you order an appetizer or a salad you'll have plenty. Would definitely recommend for a date night!
