Cafe Amelie is our go to place in the French Quarter.. It was a chilly night but heaters were fired up outside. Beautiful courtyard and we always try to eat outside.
Good food good service.. All good
Just took gamble based on online reviews. Was perfect. Delicious and well served. Three of us met for lunch. Outdoor patio a plus.
Had a wonderful meal... service was excellent and the ambiance wonderful
We made a reservation for a nice meal here to cap off our trip to New Orleans, because we heard the ambiance was unbeatable. It was raining so unfortunately we did not get a seat in the courtyard. However, rather than a seat downstairs in the romantic dining area, they put us upstairs in what felt like a converted bedroom with VERY bright lights and no ambiance whatsoever. It was not romantic. Our server was very polite, but we felt pretty forgotten about in that room. The food was good, but not the highlight of our trip. Overall, we left feeling very disappointed because we didn't get what we went for which was a romantic, candle lit dinner with dark mood lighting. It felt more like a bright classroom. We will be very hesitant to try again, unfortunately.
Was a very delightful evening. The service was great as was the food. Even met Chef Jerry to let him know how good the food was.
We always eat brunch here when in NO. Always great food and relaxed atmosphere. Courtyard was really nice today.
I went with a very good friend for a quiet conversation and good food. We have been friends for 50 years (since college) but live far apart. When we get together we have a lot to talk about. At Cafe Amelie we could do that. The food was good and the atmosphere was wonderful. I am vegetarian and am accustomed to having very little choice for my main dish. This was true also at Cafe Amelie, but the veggie dish that I had was delicious and creative. It was a pasta dish (ho hum) but the lovely surprise was that there was more of the other ingredients (yummy veggies) than of the pasta. We shared an appetizer dish that was plenty for two people, and we shared dessert -- everything was wonderful. I wanted a cocktail that was not on the menu and our server said "no problem, just tell me what you want!" Their attempt at making the cocktail I had in mind did not resemble that cocktail much, and our server offered to take it back and try again. I felt that the mismatch was my fault (insufficient description) and I kept what I'd been given. It was not a hardship! But I appreciated the offer to try again. All in all, that dinner at Cafe Amelie was superb.
Wonderful brunch in a beautiful and quiet garden setting. You can't believe you are in the heart of the French Quarter.
Kinda disappointed. Portion was small - had the pasta special. Wine was lousy - very bitter. Would not go there again.
This was our second time at Café Amelie… The first was after a tough mudder, this time we flew in a day early (for a wedding), so that we could come here for lunch!
The service, the ambience and the food will always bring us in a day early for any appointment we might have.
I do believe that this is a must lunch place.
Lovely garden dining experience. Excellent service. Oyster casserole was superb and the gumbo was right up there.
Was wonderful! Had a fantastic meal and enjoyed ourselves very much
Very very poor service we ate at the best restaurants during our visit to new Orleans and really have to post this review felt very sad and upset with the way we were treated.
Had a delightful meal with excellent service which is what we normally find at Cafe Amelie.
My family and I really enjoyed our visit to Amelie’s. The fig and goat cheese appetizer was awesome—great flavors. We had our lunch in the courtyard and the ambiance can’t get much better. Will definitely make a point of going here on my next visit to New Orleans!
Fantastic brunch. Great food, seevice, and atmosphere.
We had a terrific dinner. Our server Sofie was the very best. Our meals were awesome. Of special note were the shrimp and grits as an appetizer and the carrot cake for dessert.
Wonderful experience. Got to sit outside and I highly recommend that if the weather permits. The food was great. We shared the shrimp and grits and the poutine to start and they were both really good. A little spicy but I like some spice. Not so spicy that you are reaching for water. 😄 Our entree’s were equally as good. Would definitely return.
Beautiful courtyard and a delightful way to enjoy brunch
Always a delight. Thoughtful menu, attentive service, reasonably priced
Good menu and good food. Kind of loud and our table was in a busy traffic pattern. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful. Delicious meal- we will go back. Outside would have been perfect but too cold tonight.
I have enjoyed Cafe Amelie for years and especially enjoying dining in the courtyard on a beautiful day. It's a quiet oasis in the French Quarter and the food is always fresh and delicious.
Ate there on a cold night with no outside seating so it was crowded inside with people waiting for tables. We felt rushed and were there for less than 90 minutes with drinks, appetizers and main course. There was a nearby table that kept putting off dessert for a half hour and then left which contributed to the backlog.
I’ve eaten there many times and as usual food was great and we had a knowledgeable server but main course was brought before we were done with appetizers
We were able to sit in Cafe Amelie's charming courtyard complete with heaters to deal with the evening chill. The craft cocktails were excellent, service was prompt but not rushed and entree, gulf shrimp with pasta, corn and maque choux sauce entree was very taste with firm shrimp. Would definitely go back next time we are in new orleans.
What can you say? It’s a classic New Orleans spot and definitely worth it. Highly recommend a reservation for the outside patio - it’s gorgeous, romantic and well laid out so you don’t feel crowded. The food was amazing and the portions were massive! We would definitely recommend it to everyone!
Quiet and cozy! Make reservations, this place is a hot spot! Sit outside and enjoy authentic food!
Absolutely wonderful! We ate dinner in the courtyard and it was simply magical.
Beautiful place right in the middle of French Quarter. Food is unfortunately mediocre.
The food was very good, though prices do reflect this so not a value. They have southern classics and very atmospheric courtyard should you sit outside-fountain and garden lights. The restaurant is in set from the street so it feels like an escape from the bustle.
Three of my girlfriends and I visited Cafe Amelie while in New Orleans. It was a bit too chilly to be outside, but the outdoor courtyard is absolutely breathtaking. We were disappointed we could not be out there, however the inside is very cute, cozy, and charming. After we ordered, a staff member came over and asked us if we would mind moving our table because of some sort of mishap. We had absolutely no problem moving (we didn't even have our food yet so it wasn't very inconvenient). They were so apologetic and gave us comped drinks and comped desserts. Very thoughtful, but we definitely did not even think it was necessary! Truthfully, everyone was so kind to us that was all we cared about! Not to mention the FOOD! oh my gosh! Best food we had in NOLA. Two of us had the gulf shrimp/corn pasta, one of us had a pasta special, and the other one had the ahi tuna. We shared the burrata and two desserts. The Amelie drink was delicious! Overall excellent restaurant and would HIGHLY recommend! If I ever go back to New Orleans, I will visit Cafe Amelie again.
The dishes served were well proportioned, fresh and well balanced for taste. Only reason I gave it 4 stars for food instead of 5 stars was that my particular meal was just slightly overcooked (salmon) but I ate it all and would definitely go back for the overall experience.
Lovely courtyard. The food was exquisite and the service
attentive. We’ll be back!
The atmosphere at Cafe Amelie is incomparable, the cute outdoor patio was a great place to sit for dinner.
However, the food didn't live up to the hype. My fiance ordered shrimp grits and shrimp pasta, however both dishes came with shrimp mixed in, yet still fully tailed. You would think that since these are mixed dishes, that they'd remove the tails prior.. it wasn't a shrimp cocktail.
I ordered the tomato bisque soup, which was delicious, and the chicken w/ potatoes dish. The chicken dish was fine, but nothing to write home about. Come here for the ambiance, but don't expect an amazing meal.
great location and pleasant courtyard -themed lunch
25 bucks for pasta with peas was kind of annoying
I love eating in this quite large and shady outdoor courtyard with a huge fountain. The menu has several meals to choose from that are not the normal choices that you find at every single other restaurant in New Orleans. I’ll be back!
Cafe Amelie was an amazing experience and the perfect way to end our weekend visit to New Orleans. The brunch menu selections were perfect and the prices were fair but Lord above, what a beautiful courtyard!
If you are lucky enough to be in NOLA when the weather is right, do sit out in the lovely, treed courtyard.
Dana was a friendly and helpful server although a bit tardy due to her workload(large table sat right after we ordered).
I had the banana waffle with a side of the cured bacon.....delish! My wife had a breakfast sandwich with the smoked salmon and tomato which is her go-to. She loved it. The mimosas were a bit mild but tasty.
The salads looked great and I was also considering a muffaletta sandwich that sounded awesome.
I would highly recommended this as an escape from the madness going on all around you in the french quarter. You will chill and have a very nice meal.
We ventured here before the Sunday matinee at the Saenger. With reservations we were seated promptly. Wait staff very pleasant. We sat outside Umbrellas up to block heat and rain. Pretty patio, soothing piped-in music and delicious food for a very reasonable price. Our group of 5 will return👍👍👍
Our server Christy/Christian (sorry) was delightful. She was attentive and prompt! Thank you! Food was wonderful. I had the duck, date had the chicken special! Wow! Loved the fig bread appetizer and the shrimp appetizer! Loved them! The setting is beautiful, perfect for a New Orleans fall evening!
A great place, would definitely recommend this restaurant as a place to go
Always have a great experience here!
