Cafe 21 at 21 West End
Myles was our server and great! We love the ambiance and food
Definitely a very kid-friendly place. Good food and service.
I would have given it 5 stars. I really do like the place. I live right next door and for convenience it can’t be beat. The atmosphere is excellent. We went early evening on a Friday. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were allowed to choose where we wanted to sit. I like that a lot. The hostess was very pleasant and welcoming. The seats were kind of weird. I felt that they were a bit too large and couldn’t get entirely comfortable. I will say the place is beautiful, clean and airy. The menu is just ok. Not a great selection. I chose the veggie burger and she chose the chicken and risotto. I liked mine. She wasn’t crazy about hers. The ricotto could have been prepared better. The wine menu seemed a bit slim to me. But I am hardly a wine enthusiast. The service was pretty good. I will say that I was looking to get the check for a while before anyone came by.
Overall, I will definitely be back again. I did like the place.
Went with my date on a Friday night. I had my usual great Veggie Burger. She had the chicken risotto special. Mine was excellent. Hers was pretty good. She didn’t really enjoy the risotto. Overall a good experience. I recommend.
Since we found Cafe 21 in our neighborhood it has become our favorite dining option. The food is delicious and very consistent. The value, for NYC, makes it an easy choice to visit several times each week. But what differentiates this from everywhere else is the people. The folks who make cafe 21 run are wonderful and quickly make you feel at home. Certainly a don't miss and family friendly too!
Great food and very reasonable prices. We were there on taco Tuesday. Would definitely go again.
Nice bar and good food. Alot of kids in the dining room.
Only found this because of the Open Table app. And so happy we did. Small place, fancy but remarkably reasonable prices. Nicole was outstanding.
Lovely ambiance and service. 4 of us had the burger. Everything a burger should be.
They need to learn how to make egg whites. I miss the old kitchen staff.
Pleasant surroundings, reasonably pleasant food, satisfactory service. We had hoped that Cafe 21 might become a place where we would eat regularly, but that was not to be. The decor is attractive and sophisticated, giving the impression of a pleasant place for adults to eat and the menu also is addressed to an adult taste. However, a large fraction of the patrons were residents of the building, accompanied by their small children, so the over-all feel of the place was of a restaurant catering to children.
Nicole was fantastic and the venue and food are incredible. We had a great dinner and will definitely be back!
First time. Very pleasant surroundings in lower level of high rise. Server very capable Menu limited. Good value.
New restaurant. Trust have to work the kinks out and learn to serve appetizers before the main course. Hopeful it will get better!
Very nice comfortable restaurant. The lounge was a little loud with all of the children but understandable as it seems to be a family oriented place
I had the best experience here. Stopped by with a co-worker after work for a bite to eat. The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! Conor especially was awesome! Shout out to this place and the staff- I will definitely be coming back again.
located below the lobby of a luxury apartment building with amenities like a hotel - The food was very tasty and It appeared to be a go to place for families living in that building - however I would not hesitate to return as someone who does not live there just to enjoy the casual dining environment and tasty food
I brought my wife hear for her birthday along with a couple of friends. The food was great! I had the burger even though i wanted the salmon as well. Upon the first bite of the burger I knew i made the right choice. I tried some of my wife's salmon and was very impressed with presentation as well as taste. The salmon was wild salmon, which we liked. When i got my check i was pleasantly surprised at the price. The Check was lower than I expected and I also feel that i got more as in quality and taste than I had paid for. Will definitely visit again.
It’s lovely to have this restaurant in our Riverside Blvd neighborhood. Casual dining, delicious food, friendly service. It hits all the right notes.
The food is wonderful, the service is exceptional. We adore the entire staff. They make us feel at home every visit... whether it’s for a family meal, business dinner or just a drink at the bar. BIG thank you to Conor, Romero, Nicole and Muhammad!! We’ll be back very soon.
Will begin by stating that this is my fiancé and I attempting our first opentable review after nearly a decade in New York. The staff at Cafe 21 served as the catalyst for this review as they truly have created a wonderful atmosphere with great service and food.
Conor and Myles at Cafe 21 have become not only regular staples in our weekly routine but even more importantly...friends. The food is always delicious - chef Catherine has a knack for striking a balance between gourmet and upscale with comforting and approachable. You can’t go wrong with the buffalo style cauliflower or the chicken BLT. and, just as importantly, the drinks are exquisite. Conor is a master mixologist who never flinches at any special requests we may have had and is happy to create wonderfully cocktail-centric drinks.
Great food, wonderful people, and memorable drinks. You won’t be disappointed.
On May 8,2018, I wrote a review that was very critical of their Customer Service. Since then, I was invited back by the restaurant on May 26, 2018 for dinner in which I accepted.
I found the restaurant to be very cordial and the atmosphere quite pleasant and elegant. The Manager and Staff attended to my needs and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent as well as their creative coctails. This is a great neighborhood Cafe and one that I would recommend to both my neighbors and friends.
I thank both the Manager and Staff for a wonderful Saturday evening.
Great food large portions
Great dinner spot in the Upper West Side. Food and wine selection was awesome.
An absolute gem for this area. Lobster roll was to die for, as was the watermelon margarita drink. Great food and drink menus, along with a friendly waiter who made really nice recommendations. Dinner drinks and dessert for two all under $75
At our dinner, the kitchen backed up and our meals were delayed, but the staff was very attentive and apologized for the delay. Unfortunately, when our dinners came, the pasta dish that was served was not the one we ordered. Again, the staff was very apologetic and they offered us dessert.
We told our waiter as soon as we got there we had to get to a curtain. Food took forever and didn’t get a chance to finish meal. A wasted opportunity. Looked like a good spot.
I love the cafe at 21 West End. Food is always very good and it’s so great to have the cafe in my building. Great to bring friends over and be able to grab a drink at the bar and just hang out. It’s not as expensive as Opentable says. There are plenty of menu items for under $20 for a quick dinner.
Great place to get a lunch. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a reservation for May 5, 2018 @6:30, which I thought! When arriving to the building where the Café is located, I was informed by the Concierge that the Café was closed for a private event. He called to the Café to confirm and was told the same and that the event was scheduled AFTER I made my reservations.
I was not contacted by the Café to advise me about my reservation. This is terrible Customer Service and clearly, I have no desire to try them again ( even though I live 1 block away )!
I don't often write reviews but felt I absolutely had to for Cafe 21. I am so happy this restaurant is now open to the public! The food was absolutely delicious and obviously so fresh. Love that everything is organic also! The menu has such creative options with enough of a variety to keep everyone happy! The staff was super attentive without being overbearing and the ambiance is beautiful and so cozy!! I have had both dinner and brunch at Cafe 21 and will definitely be going back!
Good food, so so service ,music too loud. In fact, totally unnecessary.
Had an impromptu dinner here with my husband and mom and it was wonderful. Everything was pretty delicious and the prices are reasonable. They had a wine special for $25.
The only thing I would say is that the meatballs in the spaghetti slightly gamey and needed more seasoning.
I love having a restaurant in the building, but I do not like salads served on a board.
Fabulous food!!! Excellent service. Located inside of 21 West End Avenue!!
Cafe 21 is clearly a work in progress. The seating and place settings (oak planks used for dishes) are awkward and the food is somewhat haphazard. We had the burger and filet mignon sandwich and both were lackluster. The burger presentation is trying too hard. No need for cheese, maple bacon, truffle oil aioli all together. ( Try a burger from the Union Square Cafe for reference.) In this care too many flavors caused the flavor of the beef to be lost. The filet sandwich was ordered medium rare and served well done. Seating while watching many people not eating in the restaurant walk through to go to other events in the building is off putting. The dark table settings and low lighting presents a cave like feeling to the restaurant. This dark atmosphere would be excellent if so many other non-patrons were not walking through. Then the restaurant would have a true bistro atmosphere. Hopefully all will improve.
Amazing food and service! The Chef has done a fantastic job with the variety of options on the menu and quality of ingredients. We have ate here at least once a week the last couple of months and leave more than satisfied every time! Exception wait staff and cooks in the kitchen tie it all into a perfect bow!
Love the food. Exclusive to the building's residents.
