The chefs’ clean and contemporary cooking style is matched by the restaurant’s sleek aesthetic, set with industrial-era accents and design elements, and earthy color tones. The kitchen view and 8-seat chef’s counter are open, which create a level of transparency and shared experience with guests. The chefs are excited not only to cook for their guests, but to also step into the dining room to meet and serve them. Many personal touches, including art installations and ceramic servingware made by friends and wooden tables made by the chefs are also incorporated throughout.

Cadence is for foodies who want to tantalize their taste buds with something new and delicious! As a first timer, it was hard to know what to choose when looking at the menu (it changes regularly) because the descriptors were mostly ingredients. So I selected 3 items with ingredients that I liked and went for it! The food was amazing, with great flavors and textures. The minimalist ambiance is clean and comfortable. Like other store front BYOs the tables are close together and there are 8 counter seats.
Overall, everything was exquisite!
Very fatty foods. Great bread. Friendly. Tough parking.
Cadence is a great place. The chefs think creatively and carefully about what textures and flavors will go well together. Almost all of them work beautifully. That's true for the desserts as well as the savory side of the menu. The service is knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful. It's a small menu. Highly recommended.
An exquisite experience as always!
Completely fantastic in every way. From the food to the ambience to the spectacular service. I was impressed on every front! Will be back soon!
Wonderful experience overall. Creative dishes, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Great place, highly recommended.
We've now been to Cadence twice and both experiences have been stellar! Despite the slightly too bitter roasted olives, our entire meal was spectacular. We stopped by Bottle Bar East on our way and chose one of the recommended wine pairings and it made a perfect addition to our meal. I also love how gluten free friendly the menu is!
Dinner at Cadence is an outstanding dining experience.
One of the top 5 meals I have had maybe ever. They were able to adjust options for gluten free/vegan dietary limitations as well. Overall phenomenal meal.
We were 4 people who enjoy trying new places and creative cooking. That indeed is satisfied at Cadence.
However, the noise level can only be described as oppressive. Screaming while trying to enjoy fine food just ruins the whole experience.
Added to that were two other issues that we found irritating and surprising. An extra charge for bread is offensive, especially when a "large order" consisted of one slice per person. It felt as though it was being rationed. The second shock was a charge of 3.00 per person for bubbly water that is made in house. When we were offered bubbly or still when we were seated there was no mention of an extra charge.
I would suggest that they add a bit to the menu prices, if necessary, to cover the cost of bread and water.
Amazing dinner at Cadence with girlfriends. We opted to share all the of the courses on the first 2 sections of the menu and were blown away by every item. The lamb tartate and tuno crudo were crowd favorites but even the cheese selection and roasted olives were perfectly executed. Our waiter was perfectly attentive and very informative. We will certainly return and hopefully have those amazing herb dumplings with lamb ragu again. They were to die for. The only area for improvement is the noise level! Modo Mio was noisy when it was in the space and it doesn't appear as though Cadence has improved upon the acoustics. Happy Dining!
The chef has a good sense of balance of a complex set of flavors. The menu, though, is small, as are the portions.
Great food and space!
We ate at Cadence for the first time recently and it was fantastic. Unlike many/most small BYOBs in the city, the noise level is quite good and one can actually have a conversation here!
Had a delicious meal at Cadence! Would highly recommend the restaurant. Loved the crab appetizer and dumplings. 2 women shared 3 small plates and 1 main and it was enough. My only criticism was the charge for the bread. Albeit delicious and from one of the best bakeries in the city, it is annoying to pay $3 for 2 small sliced of bread when you are ordering a fairly expensive meal. To make matters worse, I had recently dinned at a new restaurant at the Italian market where they served a large basket of the same bread (3-4 different flavors) and it came with the meal. Now that more and more restaurants are serving sparkling water for free, I feel like the bread should be too. It's a small thing and will not stop me from going back to Cadence to try more delicious dishes.
Next level restaurant. One of the best in Philly.
Did not expect such great food. Everything was so wonderful and well balanced.
Not knowing size or portions, we ordered too much food which we had to take home. Quality and menu is very good.
Arrived on time for our 8:30pm reservation. Restaurant was busy. There was no one at the host stand to greet guests. Had to wait for a bit until someone came to check us in. We were seated and our server recognized us as having been there before. Our food was all very good. There was a duck special and it was crispy on the outside, moist inside. Delicious! We had a good time but our server was kind of vacant this time which was disappointing, especially since there were only a few tables remaining. But our food was all very good. We will go back.
We had high hopes for Cadence after reading about it in Philly Magazine, and brought another couple along to check it out. The noise level was so high that we were barely able to hear one another. The food was fine but not exceptional. The service was friendly enough but we left agitated and disappointed.
Amazing food and incredibly friendly and knowledgeable service!
great food, got a little toasty near the front door, 95 degrees out...
Right now, top 5 spots in Philly hands down. Do the tasting menu for the full experience. Not too stuffy and noise level is right to have a conversation. Plus BYOB.
We we’re excited to get a table at Cadence after reading the glowing reviews. We were not disappointed by the food which was creative and delicious. The menu had a wide range of options. The noise level was extreme with a particularly boisterous party at a nearby table. In addition the air conditioning was not working effectively on a hot evening. The unfortunately the noise and heat significantly detracted from what might otherwise have been a memorable evening.
Can I give it more than 5 stars?
Food was uniformly spectacular. Only issue was poor air conditioning. We sweated throughout dinner.
Every bite was more delicious than the last! I'd go back in a heart beat!
Great re-design of the old Modo Mio building. We (4 of us) had the price fix menu which offered 4 selections in each category. Nice sized portions for all the courses. 3 out of the 4 courses were excellent (dessert was a let down). I thought the food prices were comparable to other fine dining restaurants but they 'nickeled and dimed' everywhere. When you are paying $65pp, I don't expect to be charged $3 for 3 pieces of bread and $5 for 5 pieces. Splitting an entree, which was for 2 people was extra. Cheese for dessert choice was extra. Raise the price slightly and don't charge these ridiculous extras. Also, when I made the reservation I noted it was a special occasion (2 anniversaries), when we sat down, our server asked what the occasion was - it would have been a lovely simple gesture to offer an extra dessert or put a candle in one of the dessert. Simple gestures go a long way..........
Great food, really awesome service. We were looking for a special experience and we got more than expected. Very happy, highly recommended. BYOB so more budget for the food! Good luck and thanks for a great evening.
Oops they did it again! Mouthwatering tasting menu! The tuna starter was incredible! The Chef's use of a mix of complex spices and flavors simply puts every dish off the charts. I was shocked by the preparation and the presentation. The place is too cool for words! Hats off to everyone at Cadense! PS Wine and Company is across the street, so head out early to pick a top flight wine to pair with your experience! Cadense is a BYOB. Which is actually very nice!
Outstanding and creative. Their 4 course pre fix is a great and delicious value. Bring a great bottle of wine to equal the food.
Cadence is a new culinary gem in Philly for sure. These guys know how to cook. The food was exceptional- my cauliflower starter and head on prawns larger plate, were both very creative and delicious. Portions are on the smaller side. Room is cute but simple, small and can get loud. Cadence will certainly get people over to a nondescript section of Girard Ave.
Food is eccletic, & not a great variety, service was slow, overall food was good but not fantastic, some of the dishes were ok for the price.
It was 8:30 on Saturday and the restaurant was crowded, seemed like staff was overwhelmed, or preoccupied.
We ordered ala carte, I think they prefer everyone to order the $65 tasting menu.
Will go back to try it again.
The restaurant has outstanding food. Fish was the best.
Service was okay. Maybe because we dined on a Saturday. Dining space is small and was awfully loud. Although we booked a table for 3, we sat at the bar. Again may be they were overbooked.
Wonderful food from Fork alums. Their mixtures of high quality ingredients are varied, and multi-layered. We would order everything again. Don't miss the desserts, especially the rice ice. The four course meal price is very fair.
My kids are heading back to college so my son picked a nice restaurant for a send off dinner. While the food was good, the temp inside the restaurant was HOT. Not warm, HOT. The server said the AC was working as hard as it could but it made the dinner a loser in my mind. With tip we were over $550 for 5 people. For that much money, I would expect more. The server and kitchen accommodated my daughter who is vegan very well. We ordered the pork for the table, but it seemed flavorless and a little dry. The duck was excellent. We were all full by the time we left. The decor is nice and current. They need to figure out the AC issues while cooking with wood and I would rate higher.
Excellent service and amazing created dishes. Loved every bite of the four course meal. Best new restaurant in town! Will definitely return soon.
Warm welcoming and delicious. I will be dreaming about that duck. Thank you for the hospitality, we can’t wait to come back!
Bangin! Go here and do the tasting menu or you’re missing out.
Phenomenal food in an elegant non-pretentious setting.
