The pasta and pizzas are great, wine list is pretty good too! The Cacio e Pepe is an amazing stand out dish with great serving presentation (they toss it in a wheel of cheese in front of your table). It get's a bit noisey at night when it's crowded so if you're going there to have a conversation with someone try to get in when it's not too busy.
We found Casio e Vino by a friend's recommendation. What a great choice! The place is small an very cozy. They have a good wine list, ingredients imported from Italy as well as local. The highlights were Cacio e Pepe (pasta with cheese and pepper that is served from inside a huge wheel of cheese , pasta with a bread on top that puffs up looking like a mushroom (don't recall the name). Their pizza is amazing too, as well as canoli. Highly recommended
I have eaten here several times, however the I was disappointed the last time I went. We were seating at a very tight table with a large party next to is with small children.
My dinner was okay. The mussels were tasteless and my pasta was average. It was not inexpensive, so I was a bit disappointed.
I have had better experiences in the past, so I hope this was a one off.
My brother recommended a Sicilian gem on the Lower East side and he was not wrong. The food is both delicious and authentic.
I had the cacio e pepe which was "out of this world". The stirring of the pasta in the cheese bowl is fun in and of itself. My wife had a marguerita pizza and my daughter had an eggplant dish. They both raved about them!
Our server was fantastic. She was delightful, knowledgeable, and always available. I highly recommend this "Sicilian Gem".
Cacio e Vino is one of my favorite restaurants and I enjoy bringing people there who've never been before. My partner and I took my brother and his partner, visiting from California, for a Tuesday night dinner. On Tuesdays, the restaurant offers a popular aperitivi and buffet special, so the place was packed, and very lively. We had dinner, from the menu, and everything was delicious, authentic Sicilian cuisine, Palermo-style. The owner, Giusto Priola, is a wonderful host and he treated us very well. I requested as an antipasto his pizza rianata, a specialty of Trapani, that I enjoyed at a special occasion at the restaurant some months ago. It's not on the menu, but Giusto made it for us, and my brother's partner declared it "probably the best pizza I've ever had." (It consists of tomato, red onion, anchovies, fresh oregano, and toasted breadcrumbs. No cheese, and you don't miss it. A nice change from the ubiquitous pizza napoletana.) She loved everything else, as did my brother. Looking forward to our next visit.
I've been here 3x and have always appreciated the affordable, delicious eats and friendly staff. Had a fantastic Sicilian pesto+shrimp dish that I shared with friends, mad at myself I couldn't finish it all.
I will say that their dining room was stuffed to the brim - felt super cramped near the doorway nearly on top of another table. Besides that, things were lovely. Might ask for a more spacious seating arrangement next time.
We went here only because it was listed as having an Italian Restaurant Week dinner deal on Open Table. They did not honor the 3 courses for $42 menu as had been advertised when we asked.
The food took a long time to come out and they don't let you order an appetizer before you order your main meal - they force you to order both simultaneously. The pizza appetizer and calamari dish were great; however, their specialty dish, Cacio e Pepe, was extremely small and overly oily. It cost $18 for about a fist sized portion of that "signature" dish
Came with a group of friends a few weeks ago. We had a fabulous time and had one of the best tables in the house right next to the patio. It's pricey for the portions (on the small side) except the large pizzas but everything was good and service was very good. Recommend it for sure.
