The food was good but the overall experience was disappointing. A few hours before the reservation the restaurant called to confirm and ask that we be on time because there’s a 90 minute limit from the time we’re seated. We were exactly on time, got seated right away (we were on the earlier side) and ordered drinks, food, etc within 15 minutes. Everything came out in the time you would expect, but once we were done with our entrees we were left there for 15-20 minutes with our empty plates. Which is not really an issue, except that when the waiter came back (with about 20 minutes left in our 90 minute allotted time) to finally clear the table, instead of asking if we wanted for coffee or asking if we wanted desserts he just handed us the check. We were a little put off but figured we would finish our wine and go to Veneiros for dessert. The hostess then came in and asked us to please hurry up because they needed the table. So we started drinking wine faster (there was still half a bottle left), at which point someone who seemed like the owner came in to clear more stuff off the table, asking us to hurry up and telling us there was a 90 minute limit. When we pointed out our reservation was for 6:30 and it was currently 7:50 - so we hadn’t actually exceeded their limit and, had they come back when we were done with our entrees, we would have had the opportunity to order dessert and coffee to finish our meal - he walked away saying fine, you can have the 10 minutes. I understand restaurants are hurting and need the turnover, but it still didn’t make for a great meal experience, particularly when we weren’t exactly lingering or hanging on to the table forever. The food was fine, decent NYC Italian, but we’re not hurting for Italian options in the City, or even the East Village, so likely won’t be going back here.

A pleasant surprise. Although I’ve eaten in this neighborhood frequently, somehow I’ve missed this pleasant little place. I dined on my own and started with the polpette. It was a generous portion for an appetizer and the little meatballs were tender and steaming in plenty of red sauce. There were two slices of a delicious crusty loaf on the table with a delightful custom dipping sauce, but they worked well with marinara as well. I then had the fettuccini Alfredo, a very tasty if traditional. Finally the mason jar tiramisu was just enough sweet to end the meal. Well done and very reasonable!

Really good food and ambience. Small but nice. Only negative thing is that I had to keep asking for the same things. Which is okay when it’s one or two things but for forgetting everything you ask for except for the food.

Why this place is so popular is a mystery for the ages. Ordinary would be a compliment. And pricy at that. The wines are below “Two Buck Chuck” quality but with a staggering mark-up. A sub par twist top Chianti — retail on Wine Searcher of $9 —was priced at $60. Not a typo. If you’re in search of ordinary go to Olive Garden instead.

The service was horrendous and they forgot multiple items and then did not correct their mistakes. I asked for an egg on my pasta and a single scrambled egg arrived on the side, twenty minutes later on a separate plate. Regardless of the fried egg preference and due to the service we will not be going back

I selected this restaurant as a special family get together. We were the only people in the restaurant yet no one came to get our drink order. There was staff sitting at a table, but they didn’t come over until we called out to them. Same thing happened when we wanted to order. Maybe we were lucky because the food was not very good. I thought the specialty was cacio y Pepe. It was terrible. Service and food were awful. Except for the gentlemen that was great about refilling water.

Manager and staff are unprofessional. This was my second visit, the first time (September 2020) the manager made unwelcomed advances to me while at dinner with my cousin, this was followed by a free bottle of wine and him pulling up a chair to sit next to me and ask what were my plans for the rest of the night. This second visit was a nightmare. We were asked to leave after being there an hour. The server claimed we were there 90 minutes and he needed the table for other people. We arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled reservation (8pm), seated immediately in a horribly socially distanced restaurant with no masks. The manager remembered me and mentioned he met me before. Our cacio e pepe was al dente and had absolutely no flavor. After bringing up our completely dissatisfied dinner to the manager, he looked me directly in the eyes and said verbatim “ok bye”. The first experience was odd but this second confirms the abhorrent behavior and conduct this establishment allows and encourages. Money wasted, time wasted, and violated by management. I’m in disbelief and so disrespected by this yet again.

This is a great spot with pleasant service and very, very good food. It's Italian with a Sicilian focus. The Pizzas are excellent, the pastas too. Right now they have a lot of outside tables set up but the whole front wall of the restaurant opens so it is good for indoor dining as well.

The restaurant cancelled my reservation after they already seated us. They operated at 100% capacity when only allowed 25%. Semi grateful and semi annoyed that we were seated outside when my reservation was for inside. We had to wait for another party to leave because they boxed our table in between 2 others and there was no way out.
