I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and the experience was so great. Personally I didn't enjoy some of the food, but that is more on me not liking a kind of food and not to say the food wasn't good if you are the kind of person that enjoys it.

Had an amazing afternoon tea in the back room at MarieBelle. John took such great care of us and all the patrons in the room. He truly made the experience as wonderful as it was. We loved the chocolate tastings/shots along the way. We had a delicious afternoon tea along with scones, finger sandwiches, macarons, mini indulgences. Highly recommend. And the shop out front is gorgeous. A gem!

This was a splurge of a treat while in NY and absolutely worth it. The drinks and food were truly fantastic. I ordered the afternoon tea and found it to be more than enough for 1...my daughter and husband each got the quiche and loved it. I recommended to my local friends as a lovely thing to do, and I would say the same for visitors. It was a really special experience. Reservations are a must (at least when we were there -Saturday of a holiday weekend). People were walking in and getting turned away!

This is not just a cafe, it's a whole experience. The room is old-fashioned and gorgeous, the hot cocoa is out of this world (try the batter-thick milk chocolate with hazelnuts -- you can thank me later). The desserts are almost too pretty to eat -- but definitely eat them, because they're beyond delicious. (The chocolate "verrine" -- two layers of chocolate mousse, one light and fluffy and sweet, one dark and dense and rich -- piped into a glass and decorated with blackberries was our favorite.) Everything contributes to the aesthetic -- from the silver eggcups and dainty spoons with which ice cream is served, to the tiny vase of fresh flowers on the table. The high tea is a delight -- you get a little bit of everything -- but on our second visit (this has become THE place where my daughter wants to celebrate her birthday) we ordered a la carte so we could indulge in way too many chocolate things. We are especially grateful to the maitre d, sole waiter, head cocoa-maker and animating spirit of Mariebelle, Joe, who calls himself "The Troublemaker." who made our entire visit a delight. From offering us tiny shot glasses of different cocoas to sample to absolutely charming my (very shy tweenage) daughter, he could not have been more attentive and welcoming. He made us feel like visiting royalty. We left with full bellies and good memories. We are so coming back!

I went in to try their hot chocolate. First, it’s a beautiful space. We were able to get a table, even though we’re were a half an hour early for our reservation. Johnny, our server, was amazing. He brought us samples, which was delightful and made it easy to choose what to order. I had the Jefferson favorite hot chocolate and my husband had the Iced Aztec chocolate and both were delicious! It was truly a magical experience!

The Cacao Bar is a very cozy place with great ambiance. The food is delicious and the staff are great. There's also a store where you can purchase all kinds of delicious treats. Definitely try the Iced Aztec Chocolate and the Tarts.
