We were really looking forward to our brunch. Unfortunately we will never go back. Food was just ok but the service was terrible. Party of 4. We had 2 appetizers, super small. Than each of us ordered meal. Each dish was served at a different time. The last one arrived once we were all done eating .... waitress expansion- they take different time to prepare... use your common sense and prepare them according so they can be served at the same time and the whole party can eat together. We are not coming back
We enjoyed Cabra very much. Went for brunch on a Saturday. Outstanding view and ambiance. Food was fantastic, what you would expect from Stehpanie Izard - flavorful, inventive, sharable. Our server was outstanding and we just had a very nice time.
Delightful surroundings, delicious small plates & amazing rooftop. Our favorite was the Mixto Ceviche - we almost had to order it twice. The egg white cocktails are amazing as was the goat empanadas. Hip without being pretentious. Will be back!
The food was outstanding, but the noise level dampened the whole experience. We were asked to be moved to the rooftop area. Although the noise was not so bad there, the sun was on our faces. I would like to be able to enjoy the whole experience when I order first class food.
Food is good. Environment is obviously great. Service not good.
Flavorful and pretty but some items too much going on
Way too much cilantro on all food
Drinks not good
Service good but staff very under dressed
Glad we went, will never return
GreT waiter! Nice atmosphere! Very nice presentation!
The room inside and out is gorgeous. The service was superb. Then, the food was so full of flavor. Just an absolute great spot to go to!
Absolutely beautifully decorated rooftop. My friend and I split the salchipapas and steak sandwich between us two. Both very tasty. I had the Alpaca My Bags drink, which was very refreshing. Overall experience and service were great, but a bit pricey for the size of the drink and sandwich.
Was ok not amazing
Great service, chic space, great food
The food was delicious with bright flavors and was extremely fresh. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with suggestions for our picky 8 year-old daughter. I will definitely be back.
Worth it for the view alone! Don’t miss the queso fresco dip!
There are only 2 ceviches on the Sunday menu and one was fruit. The traditional one made with bass was phenomenal. Had a traditional lime Pisco sour which was very good. Had a 'leche' with crab, octopus, shrimp and tomatoes that was perfectly balanced and delicious. The crispy frites were copious and put me over the top but that didn't stop me from trying the goat empanadas. The pastry was flaky and buttery but the meat was too strong tasting for me. I've had chef's goat at Girl and Goat which I liked and I know goat typically has a stronger flavor. The restaurant asks for a 'smart casual' dress code but also shares the rooftop with the hotel's pool so plenty of guests sitting at the bar in swim gear. Make a reservation so you don't have to stand in the vestibule waiting.
This was a great Sunday funday! Rooftop seating, frozen beverages and not too crowded b/c everyone else was prob still hungover - haha!
Back to the top of her game! I like Duck Duck Goat and Little Goat Diner but they never really compared to Girl & The Goat but Cabra does. Wow, the food is incredible and the space spectacular!
It was for a birthday! Hutch was a great waiter! Super knowledgeable of the menu and drinks! Great service and great views!
Very enjoyable and delicious!!
Food was amazing and the view was beautiful!
Food was excellent. Really liked the fried potatoes and the octopus. Good variety in the menu. Counter seating is not real comfortable - get a table if you can.
Service was slow. Took a while for the food to come out (like 30 minutes in between small plates and the meal) so we were just sitting there staring at each other and it wasn’t anything that took long to cook/prepare
We weren’t able to experience Cabra. We were seated by a very polite host then waited about 15 mins before asking a passing staff member to send our server over. 5 more minutes passed and we flagged down a server and said “Are you our server?” and he replied “No”, and turned his back to us. We stood up and left. The staff chased us down to apologize as we were getting in the elevator and offered us a round on the house but at that point we were done.
Lovely lunch. Four ladies. $400 tab. Horrible service.
I have been to Cabra twice in the matter of two weeks. The first time was on a Saturday night and the vibe was super energetic and awesome, and the food was of the same. I was totally impressed. I returned with my wife thinking we would have a fabulous date night. The second visit was a Wednesday night and the experience at every level was fine but disappointing. The food was very mediocre, the drinks were no good, and the service was slow. I still recommend the restaurant but clearly there is inconsistency.
The space is beautiful. Noisy but that adds to the ambience. The service for us was extremely slow and muddled. We were brought one dish twice and then nothing for 40 minutes. When we let our server know (he never checked in with us, we had to flag him down) he looked exasperated but never apologized. We eventually got 3 more of our 5 dishes but one never arrived. I flagged down our server and asked for the bill letting him know we never received one dish. Rather than apologize he showed us the dish we should have got and said it was for another table. A table seated way after us. The food we had except for the empanada which was overcooked and dry. Things go wrong at restaurants, we know that. At Cabra noone took the time to rectify this nor apologize.
Food was great. Some drinks were great and done mediocre. Work on your cocktails! Setting was wonderful.
Outstanding menu and range of flavors here. Cocktail menu is inventive and full of intrigue. I was disappointed by the service. Despite being there on a Wednesday at lunch, I was anticipating a bit more attentiveness from the staff. I think it should go without saying, but it shouldn't take 25 minutes for the server to come over after we've been seated. A bit embarrassing considering i brought a client. I will be back, but will expect an approved service experience.
The food is really good but apps are pretty small. Entrees however are a fair size for price, the shrimp with tamarind is delicious. Cocktails are tasty but expensive for the size. The problem is the NOISE! Even the servers admit they have a hard time explaining dishes because it is so loud, and to know they add a DJ into the mix on weekends makes me crazy. Hoxton hosts multiple restaurants and bars so please put a sign out when you enter so people have a clue which way to go please.
The food was great especially the avocado dip. We were consistently checked on to make sure everything was fine, and our waters were constantly refilled.
The hamachi collar was the best I have ever had! The chicharron de puerco was also amazing. We could eat the tuna handrails daily.
Stephanie Izard hit this one out of the park!! The application of fish sauce in almost everything and the detail with which she applies season and flavor to every layer and texture of the dish is astounding. LOVE IT.
Just fun for our 33rd year
Cabra is great for sharing small plates with friends and also getting your own portion. The food was served as it was prepared. Being from a coastal city in the North East, I always question the seafood in the midwest, but Cabra had amazing ceviche. So far, I've had dinner and brunch here and I highly recommend it to anyone!
Outstanding food, drinks, service and ambiance.
Well done Boka restaurant group!
Food was so good but service was terrible
Delicious food. Want to go back to try dinner menu, and beautiful space full of light that felt very airy and light. I will say our party of three was seated at a able that would have been small for two people, all three in various low slung upholstered chairs. This set up for shared plates was challenging. We felt pulled away from the small table and were literally juggling several plates throughout the meal. One other note on the space. You are on a rooftop with the hotel pool and while there appears to be a poolside bar the parade of very skimpy swim suits through the space was surprising and distracting from the great food.
Service was excellent. Loved the music too. We requested outdoor dining and did not get it. I don’t understand why as the people who were seated after us did get outdoor patio dining. Hhhmm? Guess you need to know someone or slip the hostess a $20
Food really good!!! Service Really POOR for Chicago standards.
It was our first time at Cabra. The food was very good, which validated the higher price point. However, I requested egg whites and was told I could not be accommodated for any of the egg entrees even though it is apparent your restaurant sources whole eggs for cooking. While dining, who I can only assume was the restaurant manager came over to say “I hear there is a little anger here.” All I wanted was egg whites. I did not shout or be rude to the waitier. I just commented I never heard of a restaurant that wouldn’t accommodate an egg while request. She then told me let her know if she could do anything but didn’t offer anything. My entire table was taken back by her approach and felt she was rude. While the food was good, we won’t be back soon.
Nothing special was done even though we were celebrating a birthday
