The food here is very good. The combination of traditional Peruvian cooking with more formal/traditional technique lends itself to always be a surprising result. I especially enjoyed the quinoa salad with tune, and as always the soft serve dessert (fruit is a staple in Latin American cooking).
Tasting menu was great. Cocktails also. Service was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. Would definitely go back and try other things from the menu.
Food was delicious! We got there early to enjoy their happy hour deals which were great. Can’t wait to go back.
Should be a great place in the summer for outdoor drinking (and eating).
Spectacular food. Excellent ambiance(location/big windows/decor). Noise level quite unfortunate.
Fantastic food and a lovely view! Great for Brunch with friends.
Good was good. Cerviche is not like what I’m used too. It is very watery. Noisy level pretty high. Good for going with friends
Every dish was better than the last. Salmon Huancaina so good ordered twice. Server was great! We were a party of 5 and accommodated servings so we could all taste Dishes were delicious. This was our 2nd time here. Nice view of surrounding neighborhood Will definitely come again.
Great food. Taste, texture, pairings on point.
The food was delicious as always! It’s a great restaurant
I live in Chicago and now this is my new favorite place. Stephanie never disappoints!! One thing I loved the most is that they didn’t rush us at all. At so many of these shared places is the same thing. They always tell you that you have to order everything at once. The server then swears that they will pace it for you. Then it all comes out at the same time! It’s my biggest complaint about all of those places. Cabra didn’t do that at all. Our sever suggested a few dishes. Which were all so good and not the most expensive either. They usually always suggest the most expensive. They also always over suggest how many to order which ours didn’t. Overall this was a 5 star experience!!
There was some confusion on which food had garlic and ended up resulting in one of us getting sick due to allergy.
Wow. Love the overall style and vibe and the food is yummy too. My coworker and I went for lunch and did the rooftop lunch break and did the aji verde & Queso fresco dip, classic ceviche, chorizo anticucho, chicken sanguche, and and quinoa chocolate which was to die for. I’ll be back🤤😋.
Very good interpretation of Peruvian food. My wife is Peruvian and gives her seal of approval. The tiradito was very good. The ambiance was like an upscale cevichería which reminded her of being home in Lima.
One suggestion is to add a couple more dishes for connoisseurs of Peruvian food that take some traditional dishes to the next level (ceviche de conchas negras, parihuela).
We went to Cabra to celebrate our anniversary and it was perfect!! The environment is cool and intimate and in a great location. The chairs are comfortable and give a lounge vibe rather than stuffy restaurant! The service was amazing, Andrew was fantastic and explained the process of ordering and sharing the dishes and gave perfect recommendations. We loved the whole experience! We will certainly be back.
Amazing decor, yummy drinks, and wonderful food. The snapper ceviche was soooooo amazing, it’s literally stopped me in my tracks after the first bite
As with my last 4 experiences, Cabra has not once been able to seat me at the time of my reservation. I waited 15+ minutes for this reservation. I could accept that this happens from time to time but it’s more of a regular occurrence. Food is always great and service attentive. Would recommend.
Awesome! Great food, hip atmosphere, excellent service.
Not a very good experience. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and had to wait 10-15 minutes to get sat. The wait did not bother me, but We were then sat at a table right next to the host stand, as they clearly crammed in too many tables for the space. When I asked to be seated elsewhere, the host was dismissive and told us there were no other tables. We ordered 5 items and only the entrees was worth while. Everything else was mediocre. I do not plan on returning for anything other than a drink.
It was great! Delicious food and excellent service.
They sat us at a table where one of us had to sit with the sun in our eye while the whole restaurant was empty. When the food arrived the shishito peppers had no flavor and the fried calamari and shrimp only had sourness. Finally when the skirt saltado only had the taste of salt.
Lovely atmosphere, unique flavors, generally responsive staff.
The food is amazing, great and colored flavors. Each plate has its own magic.
The service is average, they cannot explain the plates or directly don’t know them. Same with the drinks.
The place is extremely noisy
10/10 would recommend. The salmon hash was amazing! As a foodie would say - “layers of flavor”. The rooftop is so pretty and there is so much light. Would be a prime spot for a birthday brunch. Only complaint is maybe better signage? kind of hard to find the first time. But will be back!
The restaurant is very very dark. Not only do you need your phone flashlight to see the menu but to see the food on your plate, which is really a shame as the presentations are very nice. There is absolutely nothing to baffle the sound so even at a small table it is very hard to hear your mates. The food is good but not exceptional ( unlike Duck Duck Goat and Little Goat Dinner which we highly recommend. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and actually agree that the light is way too low!
Hard to have dinner conversations, very loud space
The meal was great and our servers were fantastic. Was a bit noisy and hard to hear to the other person.
Amazing view, great food, and a super reasonable happy hour
The matcha drink sour was outstanding!!! Empanadas and avocado dip also very good.
Though I noted it on both my reservation and again, in person to the host that we were celebrating a birthday, the server never acknowledged it. Our server was impatient and downright rude when we finished our meal. His only job was to take our order and give us the check. He seemed like he didn’t like his job. The food was okay, nothing too special. Being of Peruvian heritage, we expected a bit more in terms of flavor. Potato dishes and the veg empanadas weee very good. Atmosphere was great! I’d definitely recommend it for happy hour!
Expect higher quality unique dishes for the amount of money a meal costs.
Very nice place. Prices were reasonable for Chicago, yet a bit pricey for brunch.
Wonderful experience from the moment we arrived to a complimentary glass of bubbly to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had the Taste of Cabra and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend!
Great for gluten free!
Excellent food. Some portions were a bit small but all delicious. Good vibrant crowd, maybe a bit hard to talk. Highly recommended.
The food was incredible but the service was awful. Our server barely checked in and whenever we wanted to order something, we had to get his attention. Would recommend the food, wouldn’t recommend the service.
The food was so delicious!!! Service was great!! Atmosphere is so fun and exciting
The food was excellent - the service was not so good - informed them twice it was my wife's birthday and expected that they would at least put a candle on the dessert I ordered - no such luck! Also parking is expensive at the HOXTON - restaurant should offer some discount if you are dining there. Worth going for food........
I had the fixed price menu which was fantastic and definitely enough food. Only issue. Music too loud. Was in back near garage door and speakers.
Always great food!!
