Ca' Momi Osteria Ratings and Reviews
Food has great taste due to quality ingredients, but the taste was not as good due to poor service and a confusing menu.
Server tried to be a salesman instead of helping us get what we asked for.
1. Asked for dessert wine and said I only like sweet wine. result. Lectured about how I don’t want dessert wine because it will make me full so instead I should get a Chardonnay then dessert wine. I ended up not ordering wine.
2. My cousin asked for a certain wine. Result. he said don’t get that one, get the other Cab instead because it’s much better. He could have brought out both wines for her to taste instead.
3. I wanted PASTA without cheese. He recommended the mussels which were in the pasta section. Result. Mussels did not come with pasta. I asked about the pasta, he told me the mussels don’t come with pasta.
4. Asked for pasta on the side after everyone got their food since I didn’t get the pasta dish I wanted. Result. Well undercooked pasta.
5. My wife ordered pasta without cheese. Result. Pasta came with cheese. Took a long time to get new pasta without cheese. Excuse, we hand make all of our pasta. Hers turned out great even though it was the same as mine; but she didn’t get to enjoy it with everyone else eating their meal.
6. Mandatory tip with poor service. No wonder.
A brand new server would have been better. I hope this person can stop upselling and instead focus on what the person wants.
Additionally, the menu was confusing to understand. That needs to change.
The friendliest service, a BEAUTIFUL space for sure, and the presentation of the dishes were excellent - not to mention everything tasted SO GOOD, and definitely worth the value you are paying for. Me & my date were 100% super impressed by every thing!!!!! If we lived closer (SF to napa) we would go ALL the time! definitely super impressed!
Underwhelmed..... everything was just ok. Not a robust menu, portions are small and prices are high. Also for being in the heart of Napa the local wine menu is also not robust and is very expensive. Ambiance and decor are great, perhaps a casual drink at the bar is why to go back.
The menu is quite confusing, using Italian words that have to be translated by the server. There weren't any "regular" pasta dishes, which was very disappointing. Too many dishes involving organs and tripe. If you're looking for something very unique, I guess this would be it!
We had reservations and were seated right away. Five minutes later a young lady set down a carafe of water leaving no glasses and not speaking a word. Our waitress stopped by five minutes later to take our drink order. We requested water glasses and ordered cocktails. It took a while to receive our dinner and the horderves came out after the dinner was served. Not a very friendly place, would not recommend.
Loved revisiting! Everything was wonderful - the fresh food, our happy, helpful server, and learning about the story of Ca’Momi. Almost everything is homemade - pasta, sauces, cold cuts... love it. Prices were just right and so were the portions. Will be returning more regularly. Thank you for everything!
Love this place - fun wine list, they always have interesting Italian wines. And the pizzas are delicious. And dessert...everything here is so good. We've been here 3x. Only complaint was our last trip, we were seated next to some guy that was obnoxiously loud throughout the whole meal, but nothing the restaurant can really do about that. Overall highly recommended!
Convivial, friendly atmosphere and wonderful service by all staff members. It was our first time visiting and our main waiter gave us a thorough and informative overview. Everything from the small plates to pizza to pasta were delicious, and the wine list presented great local and Italian options. Desserts were excellent as well, with some unique choices. There were so many items on the dinner menu I wanted to try; I’ll have to come back!
We were early for our reservation and seated promptly in a very small table for two. ( The restaurant was empty) The food is outstanding but pricey and felt our server was disconnected.
We enjoyed the insalata bianca, mussels with tomato & garlic | campania, rigatoni with braised oxtail | lazio. For dessert, tiramisu, cannoli and cappuccino.
I wanted to love this place based on the menu; not your typical Americanized Italian fare. Unfortunately, lack of decent food preparation execution, the most uncomfortable seats I've sat in and blinking lights ruined the experience.
First off, the seats are these horribly uncomfortable wooden beasts which are supposed to look rustic (I think). The backs of the seats dig into your back and were not helped by the scant pillow available.
Secondly, all of the lights in the restaurant were blinking irregularly causing my dining companion no end of misery. Maybe this is not typical, maybe so.
Finally and most importantly, the food…I had a wild mushroom and porcini pasta and it was one of the most tasteless mushroom dishes I've ever had. Adding sautéed mushrooms to a cream-based sauce simply doesn't suffice. I got no essence of mushroom flavor in the sauce whatsoever. The roasted vegetables served with the burrata were the sorriest part of the meal. They were simply roasted too long (too dark and some even burnt) and completely lost their distinct flavors. I had to roast my own vegetables this last weekend to remind myself just how fantastic they can be when properly roasted.
I should say the sautéed greens were delicious and I ate more of those than my pasta.
The only other positive thing I can put on this place is the service was mostly good. Initially a waiter showed up and then passed us off to another waitress. She was very helpful and professional.
Such a disappointment to have such a bad meal. We had been here several times in the past for lunch and always enjoyed it. This was a meal with friends to introduce them to the restaurant. None of us will go back. Though there were only 3 occupied tables - for lunch on a Saturday - the pace of service was glacial. The food was so salty it was almost inedible. One of our party sent her tortellini in broth back to the kitchen because it was so salty she couldn’t eat it. She described it as tasting “like the ocean”. The “salad” of sautéed greens I ordered arrived as a glop of over cooked green mush with so much salt I left it alone after one bite. The only thing worth eating was the burrata with roasted vegetables. Other than that, it was a failure all around. I would add that my antennae were up when we arrived at the restaurant to find several tacky looking signs hanging in the windows advertising various upcoming events and specials at the restaurant. The signs were a blemish on a really lovely space. Don’t know what’s happened to this place, but it makes me sad.
