Ca Del Sole Ratings and Reviews
We went to an early dinner before a show, and it was fantastic. The service was great, and we had a hard time choosing from the menu because we wanted everything. We decided to get a few appetizers and split 2 salads, and we both got the short rib ravioli. It was great, and I’d like to go again. The wait staff is so polite and attentive.
What can I say that I haven't said before? Great as always! This is a neighborhood institution but not ultra trendy. It's just great Italian food and everyone in this part of the Valley (or who works at adjacent Universal Studios) knows it!
What was great about this last meal is that it was Valentine's Day and I've had some uneven experiences at other great restaurants on this Prix Fix day. This meal was flawlessly prepared and served. Bread and tapenade to start, followed by a first course of luscious tuna tartare on a bed or avocado; main of seafood risotto that was perfect; desert of creamy delicious panna cotta. My husband had superb beef carpaccio to start, then Ravioli as a main (he loved it), and cream puffs drizzled with chocolate syrup for dessert. All great.
We were seated promptly on the gorgeous patio about 2 minutes after our on-time arrival, and were not rushed (as is often the case when there are "seatings" during a holiday). We were there about an hour & 15 minutes which was perfect. I loved that they had the music turned down a bit so we could have a conversation and hear each other! Just enough ambient noise to make it fun but no so much that it interfered with conversation.
Valet parking is only $4.50 and a very short wait. They park the vehicles on the premises.
I have been to Ca Del Sole about 10 Times. Every time I leave absolutely satisfied. The food is amazing and the ambience is equal to any of the nicest places in LA. The prices are incredibly affordable. Without a doubt, this is our favorite restaurant in all of LA!!!
It was as always great service. Good drinks.
The lamb shank was not available, which is my favorite, so had the pork instead, very good and lots of it. They have painted the dining room green which makes it look smaller. Liked it the cream color it was before.
1. The server, after telling us what your restaurant doesn't have, had an insolent tone in her voice almost rude. Her tone did not change as the night went on.
2. I had the spaghetti with marinara which is not on the menu. When it arrived the spaghetti was not cooked. It was hard to bite through and very chewy. Returned to kitchen. Returned to me and the spaghetti was not warm and still tough to eat! The server called it al dente but in my opinion it was not cooked enough and I told her that the first time. She then revealed to me that spaghetti is the only pasta your restaurant does not make and is brought in from somewhere else and not very good. Nice bit of news to have before I placed my order. What a disappointment.
After nearly 10 years in LA, I've finally found my favorite restaurant. I'm on my 6th time dining there in the past year -- and have never had anything there I didn't love. Great wine list, incredible food (killer pasta), highly professional and friendly service, wonderful atmosphere. Reasonably priced excellence. Great for friends or a romantic evening. And the desserts are exquisite.
The service was excellent. The food was not great. We dine there always, but it’s always a hit or miss. I think it has to do with the chef of the evening. Slightly disappointed with meal. However the ambiance is always pleasant and our server was excellent l:
We had a wonderful birthday celebration. The food and service were very good. We had very much looked forward to coming back to the restaurant after several years. The only negative thing was with the valet parking. Upon leaving I presented my ticket and paid the $4.50 charge with a $5 dollar bill. The attended rushed off without giving me a receipt and brought the car. After I tipped him and additional $1, he claimed I hadn't paid the valet parking charge. I insisted I absolutely did. This incident could have been totally avoided with more trained valet staff and some type of a receipt.
We got a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. We were lucky because it was very busy. The waiter was very attentive and gave good advice when we asked for menu suggestions. We got the fish special which was absolutely delicious! Really enjoyed our evening.
Ca De Sole is a consistent neighborhood favorite. This night was very busy and we were seated next to a large, very loud group. Food was very good, our waiter was doting, but I think he may have been having a difficult time hearing us as there were a few order errors.
Dinner was great and it remains a favorite.
Everything was great except that we brought our own wine and the corkage fee was $25--pretty high for a restaurant like this. Their wine list is fine, but we bought a special wine for a special occasion. The ambiance is very good with a broad mix of ages among the clientele. The servers were attentive and we had a very well paced meal. Prices are appropriate for the menu.
I brought my girlfriend here for lunch on her birthday. Food was amazing as always and so was the ambiance. I requested a cabana table in my reservations on open table but when I arrived they said they didn't have any available. To my surprise they were able accommodated my requested and after a few short minutes I got a cabana tables. My only other gripe was that a fairly large spider fell on our table. Naturally my girlfriend got frightened. I immediately got the attention of a waiter/buss boy. Not looking at me, he said give me one second and walks away to grab a pitcher of water. As he walked by again I tried to get his attention and he just brushed me off. I watched him attend two tables before he went back to the bar to leave the pitch of water before finally he came with a small plate and said you need another plate. I was upset but I didn't let it bother me. My waiter passed by and I got his attention. He came over and I explained to him what happen. I wasn't bothered by the spider (That's not their fault, and we love the outside patio), it was being ignored. If he would have turned and looked at us he would have seen the urgency to my interruption and could have prevented the misunderstanding.
I like this place a lot. Took husband and out of town friends here. My husband said the short rib ravioli was amazing. Service is very good, it was a bit noisy but to be fair it was a busy Friday night. Very relaxed atmosphere and I like the decor. Prices are reasonable. Nice place for lunch and dinner outside too.
Fantastic food and wonderful service. Unfortunately, occasionally we are seated next to “studio” people who like to speak very loudly and name-drop which makes normal dinner conversation difficult. However, when we can have a nice, quiet dinner, this is one of my favorite places. The food is always tasty and fresh and they offer interesting mixed drinks and a nice wine list. Of course, my favorite part of dinner is always dessert and their desserts do NOT disappoint!
Great place for upscale dining. Love the outdoor dining area. Attentive but not overbearing service. Nice choice of salads and primi/secondi dishes. We enjoyed the mixed greens organic salad with amazing balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
Most of us ordered the eggplant parmigianna which was perfectly prepared- well cooked. The capellini- angel hair pasta - was delicious with actual slices of garlic mixed in. And the homemade bread with olive dip or butter was fantastic. Overall excellent service although waiter didn't bring more bread after we quickly finished the first round. A must visit if live in Toluca Lake/Studio City or visiting Universal City.Easy valet parking($4.50). Go to Ca del Sole you won't be disappointed. Great for special occasions or to impress your date!
Went here for what we thought would be a special evening. Turned out to not meet our expectations. Waiter screwed up our order. He seemed like he was mad at the world so he was not very friendly. Food was marginal but overpriced. I have eaten here many times and always felt it was a good value for the buck. Not this time my Pork Roast with a huge bone looked like it came from the cave man days.I took it home and even my dog would not eat it. My friend ordered filet mignon and had to send it back two times to get it re-fired. The plates were unappetizing with no vegetables. It ended up being a very mediocre evening when it could have been something special.
This delightful diamond in the rough is a wonderful restaurant for an evening before the theater or afterwards. we came for their prefix New Year dinner and spent 3 hours there without even batting an eyelash. The ambiance was romantic and lively, the food was perfect and the services was very good. My wife and I will be coming back to try their full menu very soon!
I have been going to Ca del Sole for years for a Holiday business lunch. The food is always good and tasty. The service is impeccable. The wait staff attend to your needs but are never intrusive. The menu is Italian and the ingredients and dishes are authentic and classic. My clients and see the restaurant as a favorite tradition. We will be going back again!
Been coming here for over 20 years. Ca Del Sole is our family's go-to spot when we want a full proof meal with amazing food and stellar service. Authentic, upscale Italian cuisine- incredible entrees, pastas and desserts. The warm ambiance and friendly staff make this an ideal choice for a special occasion or business dinner/luncheon. Highly recommend!
