I have been dining at Ca Del Sole for 25 plus years. I am sad to say that recently the food and service is not up to par with what it once was. I love the outdoor patio space, and prefer lunch over dinner as I feel very rushed by the staff to turn the tables at dinner. The service is hit or miss depending on the waiter that you get, some more accommodating and friendlier than others. Very seldom do you ever get the table that you request even when calling far in advance. I feel that Ca Del Sole has lost touch with the social curtesy, friendly, welcoming atmosphere that was once the personality of the restaurant, so very disappointing!!! When customers dine at a quality restaurant, they want it to be a special experience and not just another eatery. I also would suggest that it would be lovely if the valet crew smiled and greeted the customers as well, a simple "hello" goes a long way. After all, it is the very first impression a customer receives upon arriving at the restaurant.
Wonderful atmosphere, great service and wonderful food. Relaxed but sophisticated.
The minute I walked in, I was certain this would be a good night. I loved this place right away. The service and the food were outstanding. Hope to come back soon, next time I am in town.
The service was excellent and the food delicious. There was an interesting selection, not the usual fare.
Beautiful food served in a beautiful setting. The antipasti plate was remarkable as was the salmon and the pastas! Highly recommend!
Our favorite place! The food is always consistent, the service outstanding and the atmosphere lively and fun.
Have been here a few times and never disappoints. Welcoming hostess and very professional wait staff and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend the seafood pasta dish.
Excellent Italian food with large portions. Our entire party loved every dish, especially the short ribs, the seafood stew, and the linguini. The entire meal was outstanding.
Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience delivered by the entire staff. Each one of us ordered a different soup or salad and entree'. No disappointments at all and no surprises of the presentation and excellent quality of each dinner as this is our "go to" place for the Holidays, Birthdays and Anniversaries. Thank you for a very satisfying evening.
Had a great time. Food was fantastic.
fabulous and consistent
definitely our go to restaurant for superior food and a lovely atmosphere
This spot has a beautiful patio area for outdoor dining (complete with heat lamps for chilly LA Winter nights, but once we realized that they have an all night happy hour, we moved our party to the bar area and enjoyed discounted appetizers and cocktails before our dinner. Great spot!
This diamond of a restaurant is one of our very favorites when in the Valley. The food is outstanding. Exceptional really! The Osso Buco is sublime. These old school recipes have a new flare that is welcome and surprising in the flawless execution. Our server was fabulous. I have been there for lunch and at times they can be running around like crazy but our evening meal was relaxed and we were attended to well.
Their alcohol and wine selections were world class. Sorry none of us looked at the beers but the drinks served were perfect. Don't miss out on visiting this great find next time you're in town.
We went to Ca Del Sole for brunch on a Sunday. We had been here for dinner in the past, and I was curious if their brunch was just as delicious. It was AMAZING! Our table ordered French toast and egg dishes and everyone loved their meal. I also appreciated that the mimosa came with 2 free refills ( 3 glasses was just enough!) I would definitely recommend this place for their weekend brunch - food and service were outstanding!
Great service, good food, staff attentive. I came here about 10 years ago and it doesn't have that rustic coziness anymore. Atmosphere okay. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating was closed I'm sure due to the climate.
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, and most staff are wonderful. This visit was not the first time our main server was not rude, but he was short, distracted (?), and just not pleasant. He put a damper on our evening. Our serving asst was terrific and made up for the server.
I had the homemade pasta special with a very good meat sauce. Highly recommend any pasta special they have on the menu. My husband had the pasta Del Mar, which he loved. House made pasta with an olive oil, white wine sauce full of muscles, clams, and tender white fish.
We will go back because the excellent outweighs he negatives in this case.
Menu offers a broad variety of always exceptionally prepared cuisine. Courteous, prompt, friendly service. Gentile ambience.
One of my favorite restaurants. The patio area is one of the nicest in LA. The service is always exceptional and you will never be rushed. The food is consistently good, although I would like to see some specials for brunch. The basis menu does not change much, so it can get a bit repetitive. I consider it a good value for the quality. Highly recommended.
Had a lovely dinner with my husband and two of our friends. The food was good, the ambience was wonderful. I had the pumpkin ravioli (my usual dish) and it did not disappoint. Two glasses of the house wine and a salad made the dinner perfect. I do love their bread and the olive tapenade that they put out before dinner. The outside eating area is just perfect. In the evening the little white lights twinkling on the trees, the drapes that separate the tables that surround the outside dinner area are perfect for a romantic dinner or any intimate conversation. I highly rate Ca del Sole. It has been in Toluca Lake for many years and does not disappoint.
Best cioppino in LA
I don’t understand how this restaurant has a good rating. The food is awful. There is so much noise from the traffic and the waiters were not accommodating. My pasta was undercooked. Go somewhere else!
good food and service
Mario is absolutely lovely in every way! He was so kind, attentive and helpful. Thank you!
One of my many visits to Ca Del Sole. Always reliable, delicious food and great service. The outdoor patio area is welcoming and feels private. The chicken breast was delicious, as was the lamb. And the burrata - creamy, smooth and delicious!
Well worth the time and money!
Wonderful food, beautiful patio, and excellent service.
Osso Buco terrific as is the fried calamari. All pastas great as well.
The food was spot on...have been here multiple times and have been extremely happy each and every time. Highly recommend...it is one of my favorites!
Delicious dinner with amazing drinks and a lovely server ... thank you for a great night.
Remains one of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food is excellent and authentic, the service is great and the clientele interesting. The outdoor patio is delightful.
Had a great server and the receptionist was very friendly.
Great food, atmosphere and service. Everything was perfect. The garden is the only way to go. Service is exceptional without being intrusive. Scallop appetizer and Lamb par pad Elle is my favorite but everyone was very happy with their selections
Fabulous place and delicious food! I go there often and just love their pasta!
Excellent food and service! Second time here, can’t wait to come back!!
This place is never a disappointment! Great food and ambience!
We really liked the place, very cozy, beautifully decorated, food was really good.
Overall, great place to dine and take friends to.
The menu had a wide array of traditional and creative choices. Everything from appetizers to dessert was exceptional! The ambiance and service was also excellent - we chose the venue to celebrate our friends' wedding anniversary and all of us were delighted with the experience.
Ca Del Sole is always consistently good. Being greeted by a friendly staff including Mario, Porfiero, et al, always makes it special. Eating on the patio or inside is equally nice; it all depends on your mood. I have recommended Ca Del Sole to many people over many years!
We've been to Ca Del Sole several times and we have always had excellent food. They do pasta extremely well. My Tagliatelle ragu anomy wife's Lasagna were fabulous.
Food was excellant. 2 in our party had the salmon could not stop raving about it.
I really like Ca Del Sole, but I do experience a minor, yet consistent lack of customer service. It isn't everybody - most people from the valet to the receptionist to the waitstaff and bus staff are polite and pleasant. But every time there's that one person... Previously I was very disappointed in the snooty and aggressive bar manager. He was not there for brunch! Yay!
This time we had a strangely prickly waitress who did not like that we had the first round of Prosecco with our brunch in the bar and did not close out. The bar tender had told us about the brunch prosecco special in which you may have 3 mimosas or proseccos for $15. She advised us that it is perfectly cool to have one in the bar and the other two at your table. The waitress was clearly miffed this had occurred and wanted to know why we didn't close out. OK - everybody has a bad day, so we wrote it off to a prior bad experience. When she came back for our order, my friend ordered scrambled eggs and asked for some cheese on the top. "Like parmesan?" the waitress asked. "No, something more melty. Maybe like the asiago on this other dish?" She made a face. "I don't want to insult the chef or anything, "he said, sensing that she didn't want to. "You know, I don't think I can ask for that," she said. "Oh, OK." We were all pretty confused at the attitude.
Food arrived and my friend's scrambled eggs had no cheese upon them. However, my girlfriend's omelette was filled with cheddar or some similar yellow cheese! So there you are! We looked past the odd service and still had a fun time!
