C. Frogs BBQ Steak Whiskey
We enjoyed the valentines special they had, along with Standees Theater, and the value we found was unmatched. The waitress really paid attention to my wife's allergies (soy and dairy) and there were plenty of options, really good options, available to her which made it all the better. We will definitely be returning.
Although it was quite busy due to Valentines, the wait for drinks at the bar, waitress at table was horrible. Food was ok but we were there over an hour before we were able to order food.
Service was slow
Waited 15 minutes past reservation time for our table. While waiting at the bar, 2 other couples were served before our drink order was taken. Once at our table, we waited 10 min for menus. Another 30 min for appetizer. Overall service was deplorable. Our waitress was great but couldn’t do anything about a poorly run kitchen. My “well done” steak came bloody rare. My partner was done with his dinner before my charred, but still medium well, steak came back. Dessert was wrong as well. Ordered German Chocolate Cake and got Carrot Cake. Overall, the worst dining experience I have EVER had! On the bright side, the manager finally came and apologized and comped the dinner and drinks. Worst Valentines Day ever!!
Steak was way undercooked even for medium rare. Mash potatoes were cold. Service was average. Appetizers were very good - Bacon wrapped shrimp -
Things went well until my credit card was misplaced when I went to pay my bill. So (as of Saturday, 2/16) far I have not found nor has the restaurant located my credit card. Valentine dinner was free. Also, original bill presented to me was in error. A second bill was provided that as correct. At this time, I almost for sure I presented my credit card along with the bill to the server. Shortly thereafter, the server return to the table and ask me if I gave him my credit card with the bill, I responded , yes. I did check my wallet, my pockets, and the floor around our table, no credit card.
It will be a while before I return to C Frogs.
We will be back. The food was great and C. Frogs has an upscale yet relaxed atmosphere.
Went for Valentine's Day. Great food--had the BBQ shrimp with brussel sprouts and creamed corn. Hubby had the brisket and burnt ends. Nice portions on both dishes. Our waiter was great and attentive even though he was very busy.
They make an excellent steak here! and the whiskey sauce is definitely a must. Large whiskey selection. Truffle fries are crispy and delicious. I have been here 4 to 5 times and it's a great location, good food and you can't beat having a movie theater next door for a dinner and a movie date with your loved ones.
Visited the restaurant while traveling on business. Impressive restaurant and great staff. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed generous servings of well smoked and tender barbecue pulled pork, chicken and brisket accompanied by tasty sauces. C. Frogs served sides which were given as much attention by the kitchen as the main dishes. We enjoyed nicely prepared baked beans, and well seasoned french fries and sweet potato waffle fries—simple, but served hot and fresh even though we dined late on a Sunday evening. Other menu offerings provide a wide variety including an adequate drink list encouraging another visit.
Our expectations were high when we went into this establishment. The server also indicated that the food was very good. We ordered as she recommended. The food was good, however not as great as I expected. The appetizer was a crab dip, which was similar to what I make at home, nothing fancy. My main course was a Shrimp dish with grits, something that is reminiscent of southern cuisine. It was ok, but very little flavor. I would recommend this restaurant to a friend though, because I think we just happened to experience an off night for the chef. I look forward to trying it again someday
From out of town- kids were tired so hopped on open table to see where we could get a reservation. Menu looked favorable. Arrived were seated right away- kids meals came out quickly and the food was wonderful!
We love this place generally speaking. But no joke - one of the best service experiences I have ever had on my last trip. Ask for Dwight. You won't be disappointed.
First time as a diner and I loved every moment. The server introduced my companion and I to the flash fried Brussel sprouts. Delicious!
We went on a Friday night and were shocked that they weren’t busier. Food was AMAZING. Will be back even though they are pretty far from us location wise. They don’t have a ton of steak options so my husband was a little disappointed he couldn’t get a strip steak, but they had a lot of salad options and overall great choices. I had their signature dish of BBQ shrimp with crispy Brussel sprouts and a baked potato. LOVED IT! The Brussel sprouts are unbelievably good even without the aioli on top. Someone in our group had salmon, another prime rib, husband had the rib eye, and someone else had the half chicken. All enjoyed their food. Others also had their other potato variations and each were great. They have a good assortment of salads and sandwiches too so I’m guessing it would be a great lunch spot as well.
Prime rib was killer and less fatty! Chocolate dessert was lovely. Whiskey selection was very good. Definitely be back!
We went for Restaurant Week. The food was very tasty. My Old Fashioned made with Four Roses bourbon was made perfectly.
Worst food ever. It was a complete waste of money. There was absolutely no flavor to anything. I actually described it as “eating “ water. Very disappointing! The only bright spot was the waiter. He did a great job.
Could have been servers first day on job, but really needs training. Food was very blah, had soup if day and salad. Family had beef sandwich, mediocre.
It looks lovely from the door but our experience was pretty poor.
I am disappointed in myself that I haven’t come here sooner! Everything was incredible. Like, wow.
Everything was great! It was our anniversary and my girlfriend’s birthday. We had our first date here. The waiter we had went out of his way to make sure we had a special evening. The food was fantastic it was cooked the way we ordered it and we got just what we expected.
Watched the Chiefs game here when we had no power. Fun environment and great specials!
Food was excellent The service was very friendly
We went here for restaurant week. Food was good, but service was sub par.
This is the first time I’ve been to C Frogs. The food was great and the atmosphere was fun.
We discovered this place several months ago and have been back three times since -- every single time the food is fantastic, reasonably priced and the service wonderful. Their salads are fresh, burger delicious and tasty and they have AMAZING fried chicken with real mashed potatoes. Order a side of brussel sprouts -- you'll find they are crispy, tasty and prepared perfectly! I am always glad to find a restaurant that has cozy booths for nice conversation. 1/2 price wine bottles on Sunday night! Oh and we were surprised to learn that they give you 2 free movie tickets at the adjoining Standees theatre when you spend $50 or more. Try it out.
Great whiskey steak! We were very pleased with the service and the food. Can't wait to eat there again!
We’ve been here several times and have always had great food and service. We hope this Prairie Village gem continues to thrive.
Food was great, but service lacked. We were seated immediately, however we had to flag down a server to bring us drinks. When they finally did wait on us, we had to ask for silverware. Had to request refills & our check.
excellent food - burnt ends were great and portions were appropriate
Love the food, Love the convenience!!!
Obviously understaffed on the floor but the server kept a great attitude and took it all in stride.
Good food once corrected from the kitchen.
The burnt ends although tasty were fatty. My nieces steak was charred when she requested medium well and her Brussel sprouts were over cooked. The waitress didn’t make good enough notes when taking our orders as three of the four meals were brought out with incorrect items. We decided we could go back in a few months time and give them another try.
The restaurant smelled strange and the food was not worth the money.
I had high hopes for this place based on others reviews but was not really impressed. Portions are very large but not necessarily in a good way. I ordered the burnt ends and Mac and cheese and was served an entire plate of Mac and cheese with about 1/2 a cup of cubed burnt ends, for being a bbq place thought it was strange that I barely got any burnt ends compared to the Mac and cheese. Flavors were ok but not for the price. The service was so so our waitress was nice but felt rushed. Overall it was an ok experience will not be returning. I simply jut felt that I could get better bbq in about 5 others places in Kansas City.
Oh my goodness!! C. Frog’s completely exceeded our expectations. I have a weakness for really good fried chicken. We saw they had a “Smoked Fried Chicken” special on Sunday nights and decided to give it a try. Boy, are we glad we did. The chicken was cooked to perfection, complete with a unique sweet chili glaze treatment at the end. You can get a quarter or a half chicken, and it comes with two sides. I think it was $11 for the 1/4 chicken! Unbelievable value for outstanding food. For sides, I got the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and my husband had sweet potato fries and baked beans. The sweet potato fries were outstanding, as were the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Our server was excellent, as well. Very attentive without being pushy or hovering. Not sure why they can’t get more people in the restaurant, but we will definitely be back!
Casual yet classy. Pleasant service. Steak special tender and tasty. I’ve been there 3 times so far. All experiences good.
Excellent menu choices and great food. Made a wonderful location for a birthday dinner. Staff was courteous and energetic.
Went to the restaurant and it was closed. Not a good thing when you taking a date out any the restaurant you made a reservation for is closed.
