Absolutely amazing food. We ate at a lot of places while in NOLA, and Bywater had the most interesting and unique flavors. An enjoyable experience - we were dancing in our seats as we ate.
Wonderful place for coffee and a treat! Beautiful corner, helpful staff, comfortable cafe and a great addition to the neighborhood!
What an amazing experience! Our food was amazing and lived up to the hype. The cabbage salad is life-changing. Our waitress, the one from Wisconsin, was awesome, personable and real. The space and ambience are both comfortably sophisticated. Easily my new favorite restaurant in NOLA and easy to see why the chef received the James Beard Award!
We needed to increase the size of our party at the last minute and move indoors due to a shift in the weather and the restaurant was gracious and accommodating.
Food was spectacular! Such interesting food options we loved our meal here. The service also was outstanding. Our server offered suggestions and was very helpful.
Great experience and food!
I have been to BAB three times now but this is my first time writing a review. The food is absolutely outstanding and there is great seating for small or large groups as well as couples. Hands down favorite place to dine out in New Orleans right now.
We were so appreciative to be accommodated at the last minute on a Friday night. The cornbread was out of this world. Not sure how long they will have this seasonal offering so do yourself a favor and get in there to experience it before it is gone.
(The noise level rating I gave was meant to indicate a low noise level. Hope that is how it is interpreted.) The ambiance was comfortable with the right amount of lighting, a warm welcome atmosphere. The staff were professional and made us feel at home.
We had appetizers and entries and all our choices were delivered in non-rushed time, but not overly long. The entries arrived a few minutes after the first dishes were cleared. A perfect pause for us to sip our drinks and comment on the first tastes. Dinner arrived and the flavors were some of the best I've experienced in years. All the component of the dishwere complementary to each other, while able to stand on their own (my wife had the rabbit and I the pork belly). Each bite was a discover of great tastes lingered over, but wanting the next bite. The serving sizes were perfect, you knew you had had a good amount. We were glad we had room for desert. The offerings were a simple and tasty end to the journey, not a grand finally that tries to outshine the other courses, but a simple gentle ending. The pace, of our dining experience was as delightful as the food. We had a very relaxed dinner from start to finish. The staff left us alone for the most part, never filling half empty glasses and otherwise hovering over us. They were there when we needed something, which is how it should be. First class and a must visit.
Went for the Sunday Roast. It was fantastic! We had the octopus appetizer, which was delicious and extremely fresh. Sunday roast consisted of grilled ribeye, potato purée, caramelized turnips, cabbage salad, and yorkshire pudding. $62 for 2 people, and we brought food home.
Great food, great service. Nice ambiance. Always a winner.
Came for a rare night out for a birthday dinner (yay for outside seating!) Loved the Octopus small plate and the curried rabbit.
We enjoyed our supper very much.
Thank you, Bywater American Bistro
The spaghetti is comfort food! The service is friendly, the octopus is the best we’ve found.
Always delicious and always a perfect night out
This place is amazing with wonderful staff and very handicap accessible. 5⭐️
We had a great meal here. Food was delicious and the sommelier recommended an outstanding wine.
Always a 5-star experience at BAB. Our favorite dishes are comforting and consistent, and the outdoor seating was perfect for such a beautiful fall night.
Second or third visit, and the place for me is consistent even with the pandemic issues. Had a nice curried rabbit, had delectable octopus, and an excellent tuna salad. Nice cocktails, reasonable wine lose.
EXCELLENT FOOD. WONDERFUL SERVICE. ROASTED OCTOPUS MELTED IN MY MOUTH.
Gastronpub food at fine dining prices. Very expensive for what you get. Disappointed
Visited NOLA on 9/20/2020 and chose to stay at The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery because of her restaurant located in the hotel (Compère Lapin), but upon arrival was told it was closed due to COVID. Concierge recommended Bywater and we went for dinner! Food was great!
Incredible food in a casual and comfortable setting.
Most of the food we ordered was delicious. The jerk chicken may have been overspiced that evening. I read other reviews that raved about it, but it was almost too spicy to eat and I usually enjoy spicy foods.
Amazing experience at BABS! Even during Pandemic times this is a must dine. Food was amazing. Snapper was perfectly cooked and flaky. The vegan entree was tasty as well and the coconut sorbet was to die for. Chef Nina and her team have done it again! Will be back.
Bywater American Bistro is such a fun and creative experience! The starters are tapas sized and perfect for sharing, especially when paired with some interesting wines from some less well known regions (Slovenia and Hungary). Mains were equally amazing (rabbit and gulf shrimp), with okra side. We will definitely be back for more!
The food is creative and amazing! We especially loved the octopus appetizer. The service was great. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Bywater american bistro was one of the best meals that both do us have had in years. I wish that we had gone sooner and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you for being open and for the lovely evening.
A girlfriend and I got a table outside last minute and we were so excited. The waitstaff was amazing, the drinks (the tequila hibiscus one is omg) were great, and the food was so flavorful. I expected the portions to be smaller honestly! Everything was delicious. My friend is vegetarian so we ordered all of the veggie dishes and pasta and I don’t know how I’ll ever decide if I go back. The cabbage salad is an actual flavor explosion!!
10/10 for me!
Everything from the service to the food/drinks was amazing!
Food was outstanding- we regularly try new spots but this one will stay on top our list!!!!
BAB does not disappoint! Excellenr food and service.
Our dinner was simply outstanding! We are Napa Valley residents- so spoiled with great food. Rarely are we this surprised by a great meal. Items that sounded “simple” like spaghetti with red sauce and jerk chicken were off the charts good. That chicken may be the best I’ve ever had- right up there with Thomas Keller’s Fried Chicken. Highly recommend!
Not only was the food great, but I was very grateful for the COVID procedures and reminder flyers!
Can’t say enough positives about BABs. Wonderful food, people, service, environment. Excellent COVID-19 protocols that are rigorously followed. Impossible to go wrong here.
Everything was great except the service was a little inattentive. In particular, we asked for a dessert menu and were given one, but the waiter waited so long to come back that we just decided to skip it. It was towards closing time and I guess he wanted us to clear out. Otherwise, we were very pleased and that is minor in the big scheme of things. We didn't need the calories anyway. The food was excellent and we will go back many times in the future.
I had really high hopes, but the food was just mediocre. Something was off with the flavors. I enjoyed the steak tartare, but the taro chips were extremely salty. The cold coconut/corn soup was a bit strange as well. And the pork belly was okay, but extremely charred to the point that I felt like I was eating soot. There was also a weird flavor happening that I didn’t really like (and I am a huge pork belly fan). Lastly, the dessert (watermelon/strawberry guy) seemed like it had bacon or cracklins in it, when it wasn’t mentioned on the menu, which I also found strange. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. I will go back and give it another try, as I like the ambience and the service was great.
Outstanding. I highly recommend it. The food was very tasty, and beautifully plated.
Amazing food and experience. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful on all fronts. Highly recommended
