Byblos - Downtown
Amazing food and excellent service. Always a great time here
The food is amazing but the service was slow. Also the timing of the dishes being brought out was slow. We got two dishes and had to wait another 20 minutes for the others. The dessert was also slow. I love Byblos but they need to get their dishes out quicker for hungry customers.
I think the place had a nice atmosphere. The food was good too. However, the portion size compare to the price is way too small.
The food was amazing. I haven't had such a satisfying meal in a long time. The service was good and our server was helpful with ordering the right amount of food for 7 people. However, we weren't allowed to order appetizers while waiting for people, which was a little annoying. Also the hostesses didn't seem to be well-organized for such a busy restaurant, as there was confusion with our reservation and some people had trouble finding our table.
Other than that, everything was really really good. I would definitely go back, but maybe not with a large group of people. The restaurant also requires the guests to order from a group prix fixe menu in advance, if there are 8 people or more at a table.
Hidden jewel! Great food with excellent service. Worth every $$$ spent. Will be back
Really awesome, server was really helpful & reacted quickly when we mentioned we were on a time limit. Very nice about this & kitchen was prompt with the really great food. 10/10 would recommend
Amazing restaurant but they really need to pick better servers
Our server was moody, snobby and ignored us pretty much for all evening I had to ask him to bring the wine after long time of empty glasses. He walked away while I was talking to him! I thought that was rude, the only time he start to smile and being nice was at the time of paying the bill! Did he think we have short memory loss!
Having a nice server will make the restaurant experience much more pleasant and enjoyable
If he hates his job he shouldn’t be there, that’s really bad for this restaurant.
Was so sweet they wrote something for our anniversary on our dessert (had the pavlova and it was divine).
The only comment is the music voice was very high, we couldn’t talk freely
The best food in toronto
Every dish was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and I appreciated that he gave us his opinion on what to order. Ambiance and restaurant was absolutely charming.
Service was awesome. Skip the couscous.. zero flavour...
Food and service were both top notch. Portions aren't huge but was still satisfied by end of the meal. Will return.
Obvious the restaurant was understaffed and brunch isnt a regular thing for them. Regular menu wpuld have been better than that offered. Food, drinks slightly slow to come out. Restaurant should stick to what it does best - dinner.
We took my mom to Byblos - Downtown on Mother's Day for brunch. Right off the bat, the experience was poor. The ambience was not great - everyone seemed tense, there was no music playing, and the hostess had an unfriendly, unhelpful attitude when asked to switch tables. From there, everything was a mess. The service was terrible - it took us forever to get anything we asked for, and while that may not always be in the control of the server, our server specifically was incredibly rude. He had a bad attitude, was not friendly AT ALL or helpful when asking questions about the menu. The food took forever to come out, and when it did, it came out in waves, and as sharable plates. Considering it's a Prix Fixe menu, you'd expect to get your own portions, especially with the starters because they're relatively smaller. We spoke to the first manager, a male, who was not entirely helpful or friendly and made it known to us that he, too, is unhappy with how the day is going and essentially it's not entirely the restaurant's fault but the upper management. As the customer, it's pretty awkward to not only hear that even management thinks the day is a failure, but to also feel like at this point, they want everyone out and he wasn't even apologetic about the experience. The rest of the servers could also be heard moaning to other tables about how the location doesn't ever open for brunch and how they shouldn't in the future. I understand that maybe this was out of their control or maybe they weren't prepared enough but as the customer, I shouldn't be able to feel that anything is wrong. Instead, my family and I felt the tension around the restaurant and unwanted. The final manager, a female, was definitely more helpful and understanding that this was not a great Mother's Day for us or for the restaurant. We did appreciate that she heavily discounted the bill. It's a shame because I was at least hoping the food would make up for it but it was just okay.
Byblos took advantage of Mother’s Day to offer a prix fixe brunch and they were completely unprepared for it. We had reservations at 12pm. After one hour, our starters had not arrived. After they finally came out, we asked for everything else to just be delivered immediately, because we had a show at 2pm. Shortly thereafter, our dessert arrived. Our mains were still not ready.
At approximately 1:35 the manager came to tell us the mains would be another ten minutes. At that point we decided to simply leave, because there was no way we’d be able to enjoy the meal and make it to our show on time. The manager did not charge us for the meal, which was the right thing to do.
What an unfortunate Mother’s Day experience. It was not just the worst experience I’ve ever had at Byblos. I have never been to a restaurant with service this bad. I feel sorry for all the wait staff who clearly had to bear the brunt of management decisions that left the restaurant completely incapable of providing reasonable service.
Do not eat brunch here - they do it once a year for Mother's Day. Was 1:45 minutes from beginning to end. Paid $45 for each meal in a set menu. The protein was eggs. Every dish was served with bread or pita (the same stuff).
Great ambiance however the food is not worth the cost.
We came to Byblos to celebrate my Birthday and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, especially the eggplant dumplings (that sauce!) and fried chicken. The staff was friendly and helpful in our decision making process. While we were just two, we were able to try a nice variety of foods, but I think it would be even better with a larger group. Will definitely return and try things we didn't this time.
Better than “uptown “ location. I will go here before theatre anytime! And free parking too!
Food was pricey but absolutely delicious. Great for a special occasion
Excellent food suggestion from our waitress. Food was amazing. Very happy with the experience. Will definitely revisit
I LOVE Byblos! Ever since my first visit, I've wanted to come back and they didn't disappoint. The food is exotic and delicious. Cocktails are sublime. The service was on-point. Expect to pay heavily for this level of deliciousness. It's so worth it for a special or splurging night out. We'll be back for sure!
The food was outstanding; excellent service as well. Space is tight...two of us were cramped at the little table. But overall very good. Would return !
ALways good meal here, cocktails are great and service is always good. It is expensive but worth it.
Amazing experience as always!
Amazing service and food server. Ladies hostessing need some hospitality training - like offering to take a guest’s soaking wet rain coat and umbrella (not offered even though resto was almost empty and there was no one behind me - and there were 3 hostesses).
As always the food was amazing and the female server was perfect. In fact she should be training the entire staff. I should have asked her name so I could include it in my review. She was super slim and chilled if that helps identify her.
We ordered too much food but enjoyed everything. My friend said the lamb was the best she ever had even though she isn’t usually a fan and she lived in Australia for many years!
I love taking friends to discover Byblos for the first time. Everyone is wow-ed and I am too every time I dine there.
Thanks for being consistently fabulous!
Fantastic evening at Byblos pre-theatre. Comp parking at Impark around the corner, good through our evening at the theatre. Told the waiter and he made sure food came out in good time.
Food was awesome, great recommendations from our waiter on amount and variety and we enjoyed it all. Even my husband who is picky with this style of food was happy with several of the choices. My niece said it best: "This is how food should taste every day".
Had a fantastic dinner here and all the staff were really attentive to us. I got here late and missed my reservation but despite that, they still managed to find me a table even though it was a crowded evening. Dinner was delicious with their Turkish Manti Dumplings, Roasted Lamb Shoulder, Black Truffle and Pavlova. At first glance, the servings might seem small but it was definitely filling enough for the two of us. Very exquisite flavors and beautiful presentations. Would definitely return in the future for special occasions.
Celebrated a wedding anniversary dinner here recently. Great spot for dinner. Food and service was excellent!
Your restaurant upstairs floor smells very musty and at times I even got a whiff of sewer like smell. You must correct this, the odour pervaded my entire dining experience.. Despite the nice decor you seem to have a ventilation or plumbing issue. Food was good.. Flatbreads were delicious and cod was outstanding.. But rice was dry and not so tasty. My table of 7 thought the food at Miami location was superior even though we wanted to like Toronto better!
Fantastic meal; great menu as very innovative and interesting. Tasty dishes, very good portions, great value, wonderful service and wine selection was fabulous!
We ordered the hummus with a wagyu beef ragu, kibbeh, black truffle flat bread, the rib eye kebab, salad and an amazing bottle of 2009 Bordeaux! Honestly wonderful and best food I’ve had since visiting Jordan and enjoying Lebanese food in that country. Byblos does a great job!!
Such a fantastic experience and definitely the whole package. Great vibe, amazing, creative, delicious food all beautifully presented, stellar cocktails and wine selection and impeccable, super friendly service. Highly recommend.
For many years, Byblos has been one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. It has a festive atmosphere and delicious and innovative food from several regions in the Middle East. Go with a group so you can enjoy a variety of dishes -- manti, roast lamb with pancakes, yummy salad with figs and rice -- all are so good!
The service as well as the food was fantastic. our server recommended the fish, do it! We also had the jeweled rice, the grilled beets and the turkish dumplings were awesome! come hungry!
I try to stop at Byblos anytime i’m in town. Really excellent food and people.
Amazing meal! Everything was delicious but the sweet jeweled rice was my favorite!
Great place, great food and great service! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice dinner and atmosphere!
I would recommend to people who I know would enjoy the food but unfortunately we did not. The ambiance and service were spot on. The food however was not warm where we thought it should be - like cold short ribs. We were told this is how it’s served but we did not enjoy it. It was nice to have something different from regular steakhouse or Italian fare but we thought the food would have more interesting flavours. The starter hummus was very good but we were charged $2 for an extra pita - one pita for this dish is not enough. I think everything is slightly overpriced. And we ordered a starter and three plates for the main. Servers recommend 4-6 mains for 2 people. Unless you both have huge appetites, that would be far too much food. Overall it was OK but we won’t be back.
Everything was fantastic! Our server was so well versed on the menu and ingredients. The food was so delicious and the ambiance was perfect. Loved that you could control your own portions with the family style service.
