The restaurant was boarded up! Why would Open Table take my reservation if the restaurant has clearly been shut down for some time now. There was garbage and clutter all around the front of the restaurant so it has obviously been shut down for a long time. Our party of 9 was unfortunately extremely disappointed to arrive at the restaurant having been given a confirmation of our reservation.
Get with it Open Table!!

The back of the restaurant is nicer and better decor. The food was surprisingly great. Great value.
I went here for a Paint Nite with my team from work. The food was good, i had pizza. It was thin crust Margarita... I am from the east coast so it's hard to find an amazing place for pizza, but this did the job :) And we had a lot of fun that night.
The food and service was good and they offered 50% off of wine, so overall the value was good, but it really seems like they haven't updated their menu in a while. There were a lot of items listed that then weren't available because they didn't have the ingredients of the particular selection, which was disappointing and a bit frustrating.
Great restaurant. Drinks were good. This was my first time here since they changed the menu. There were some great healthy options.
As someone who visits Amalfi on a somewhat regular basis I was a bit disappointed when sitting down for dinner on Saturday to find an entirely new menu along a very restricted, and not very good, wine list. At first we thought "there must be a bar menu with our favorite dishes" but the waiter informed us there had been an ownership change. OK, fine. We wrapped our heads around the fact that the items we hoped to order were no longer offered and looked at the items on the new menu. We ordered the salami/broccolini/fontina pizza (sans salami) and some veggies (brussel sprouts & cauliflower). The pizza showed up with broccoli (not broccolini) - it was OK but the taste and texture was completely different with a broccoli instead of broccolini. The brussel sprouts were OK but the cauliflower was pretty bland. Another friend had the caesar salad and spaghetti and he said both were OK. There were only 2 servers that we saw and as things got busier, well, it was at the expense of service. One person in our party (who has frequented the restaurant for years) went to talk to the new owners just to give some feedback about missing some of the old items and to let them know about the pizza error (the restaurant DID have broccolini, just not on our pizza). Arrogant and dismissive are the only words I can use to describe the owners. They didn't seem to care about anything being conveyed to them and didn't seem to want to hear anything about the past. We didn't even get an apology that our pizza didn't come as ordered. I'm all for change and improvement but you DON'T alienate your customer base in the process. We walked out of Amalfi knowing that it was our last visit there - I'm certain the new owners don't care. There are lots of great choices for food in LA. Amalfi used to be one - not now.
Mediocre at best. The actual menu does not have many of the items of the online menu, vegetables were overlooked, tomato soup tastes canned, service was atrociously slow (and we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived). The arugula / fennel salad was a bright spot in an otherwise wholly unmemorable meal.
A solid, neighborhood place to take the family. Glad we tried it, and will definitely go back.
Hadn't been to this restaurant in a long time but it's good. Plenty of good options on the menu and the food is well executed.
Food is very good. Bar area is open to street, giving a very friendly vibe and the game is usually on TV. Very nice servers and both the restaurant and bar are not very loud. Bolanegese is exceptional.
Food was excellent. Sea food dishes have improved considerably over the years. Noise level was high. Open Table will not allow points to be used there any more.
Room was enormous and because it was almost empty i felt like i was sitting alone in the middle of a football field. Food was very average and the NY strip steak arrived sliced and covered in an awful sauce and really disappointing. I was craving a great steak and didn't get it. nice people and lovely waitress but would never go back.
I 1st drove by this restaurant on La Brea in the evening time. It caught my eye and I wanted to check it out. I went to yelp and saw some mixed reviews. I wanted to experience it for myself, I have to say that it does look cool from the outside or the front of the establishment, but when you walk in it's totally different. I was expecting this beautiful Italian restaurant, and it was a complete disappointment. This Establishments configuration is mixed up of 3 spaces, that frankly do not make sense to me. I ended up ordering the pumpkin ravioli with the braised short rib which I have to admit was really good. The server was pleasant, but would disappear for a period of time. We ordered the Tiramisu which is one of my favorite deserts, and unfortunately that was also a very big disappointment because I am sure it had went bad. I think its important for the pastry chef or who ever is working in back to taste the deserts to check if they have gone bad, of course if it was made fresh then yeah would need to check but had this bad after taste. Anyways like I had said before the ambience was not pleasant or appealing the service was ok, the food was really good, the desert was really bad. Would I come back to this establishment? I think I would take my Ravioli to go!
Nice place divided into lounge/bar upstairs and cosy restaurant downstairs. Great bar and seating area. Also hosts www.paintnite.com which I will definitely look into.,
Good food, fantatsic if you're going to the ACME Theatre next door. Great bar vibe for a group or post-show gathering.
Had never been to Amalfi before, but the Acme Theatre next door had a package that included 25% off dinner, so we decided to try it. Had 6pm reservations for an 8pm show. Ambiance was nice, hostess very friendly, got a table for 2 next to the bar. Getting someone to take our drink orders took over 20 min. Our waiter was apologetic and friendly, and brought our drinks quickly. (Before ordering anything we showed him the 25% off tickets.) Ordered an appetizer - the waiter returned to take our dinner order, but we still hadn't received the appetizer. He said he thought someone had brought it out, and 15 min later we had a really nice antipasto plate. Same situation with dinner. No one ever asked if we'd like another round of drinks, more water, coffee or desert. At 7:30 we tried to find our waiter to get our check. Asked one of the other servers to help. Asked the hostess to help. When we finally got the check the 25% discount had not been applied. Waiter said he'd need his manager's approval to take off the 25%. Another 15 min wait. Hostess checked back in with us, looked puzzled, and said the manager was tending bar. Signed the check at 8:05pm. Not sure I'm willing to risk the potential frustration of going back.
Service for our party of four was extremely good, with the odd exception of getting our check. That was slow, even after we had reminded the waitress that we were attending a play next door.
The food was very good, and the waitress suggested a good wine pairing for one of our party.
This place has good Italian food and excellent pizza. There is a small club upstairs with occasional shows by local talent. My only hesitation in recommending Amalfi is that their drink prices are higher than they should be for a basically neighborhood restaurant. I understand the drink prices at the club upstairs, but not in the restaurant. By the way, everytime we've been there, the service is excellent and friendly.
Went there for Valentine's Day and had a good time. Definitely recommend the pumpkin ravioli.
They gave us the best table next to the fireplace on a chilly winter night. We started with the calamari- cooked just right served with spaghetti sauce and a spicy mustard sauce. I ordered their signature dish- pumpkin ravioli which was right on. However the Linguine with mussels and clams was way too thick after noting it should have been served in a light olive oil and garlic white sauce- it was too thick and heavy for the seafood. Service was excellent and attentive. Suggest a spicy tomato sauce for the calamari instead of the mustard sauce. Wine sleection could be improved - suggest some Napa Valley wines ie Franciscan, Rodney Strong to keep it cost competitve and still get the markup for the owner.
Overall, our experience was OK. I requested a round table for our group for a birthday celebration over the phone, and was told that would be fine. When we got to the restaurant they didn't give us the round table and instead seated us all the way on the back of the restaurant with no ambiance and out of the way. It was also freezing on the back, and even though we told our server to increase the heat several times nothing was done about it. A few people actually had to wear coats just to keep warm inside the restaurant.
Our food was good - some dishes better than others. The steak was a bit overcooked that two people had, but Barolo Risotto was pretty good, and Creme Brulee was just OK. The service was super slow to get our food (it took a long time), but then once we got the food it was a bit better/faster.
The waiter was outstanding. The best waiter we've ever had. Great Filet Mignon steaks. W really enjoyed the restaurant.
The food was great and the restaurant had a nice, romantic atmosphere, but the service was not up to par. We were charged $15.30 for service without being told about it, and it was immediately added to our bill. Specific service charges should not be mandatory, but suggested. This isn't right, and I will not be going back.
Had a great time at Amalfis recent Saturday night with a group of family and friends. Prix fixe dinner was great. Only downside to overall experience was very expensive wine list -- $13 for a glass of house sauv. blanc. --- and generally overpriced entrees. But taste and atmosphere was fine and our server Elias was outstanding.
If you go for nothing else, you must try the lamb/beef bolognaise! So good. The bar opens up to the street and has a really big screen to watch your favorite sporting event, great California feeling. The restaurant is softly lit and not too noisy.
We went to this restaurant for the first time. The building is really old and nice! We had a coupon for the prix fixe menu and everything was so great!! I'd like to try some other menu next time.

My girlfriend and I went with a Groupon so take this review with a grain of salt. Naturally the menu for Groupon people varies from the one offered to everyone else. Subsequently, the food was pretty mediocre. The shrimp scampi-like thing, however, (Two butterflied shrimp in a garlic sauce) was particularly light, I'm pretty sure it was a white wine reduction so I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, don't go with foodie expectations. But the reality is with the groupon you're not getting a deal, tax and gratuity are included at the full price not the groupon price. And the ambiance is pretty bad, it's like a sports bar. All the food you can make at home. Just go to costco, I'm pretty sure they did. Still had a good time though...
Waiter had no idea what he was doing. Food was too salty. All in all, not worth the price.
