The menu offers a mix of American regional classics and signature dishes. The restaurant is best known for its buttermilk fried chicken with cheddar waffles but also features fresh local fish and shellfish. A separate vegetarian menu is available at dinner and the menus always include vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options. The wine list celebrates the small, traditional wineries of America and France and includes organic and biodynamic wines. The full bar includes craft beers and a list of specialty cocktails made from artisan spirits. Open for dinner and brunch.
The service and ambience was amazing. Very kind and sweet servers, chill vibe, good music. But the food was very underwhelming. Flatbread was overly wet from the ricotta, fried chicken was okay but under seasoned, and the dessert ( I got a 12 dollar custard) looked like it had been unwrapped and thrown on the plate. No garnish or attempt to make it more presentable. I would not go again.
This was great place for a girls lunch. The restaurant is quiet ...as people were sitting outside. Our wait person was very attentive. Food was good.
Wonderful! Everything was wonderful. Food was great. Service was excellent. Get the fried chicken you will not be disappointed.
Great food, great space, great staff. I just hope they bring back the ribs 😊
We love this place! A nice ambience, friendly and informal, yet terrific, inventive food. Great for family celebrations.
Food great, service terrific, noise level impossible
Buttermilk Channel is a serene spot in Brooklyn: sunlit, open, casually elegant... well sourced food. Highly recommend!
I took my niece who was turning 5 along with some family and friends.
Staff was super friendly and the food was great.
Will dine here again.
Nous gardons le souvenir d'un excellent repas et d'une carte des vins remarquable. L'accueil était soigné et chaleureux. Nous avons apprécié le cadre et le calme (rare à NY!). Nous recommandons vivement!
The food was mediocre- the flatbread had no flavour whatsoever, the popovers were too light/airy, the CHICKEN WAS DRY!!!!! The lasagne tasted like if they added a store bought red sauce. The only two things that were decent was mash potatoes and coleslaw. Still can’t get over how dry the chicken was. So disappointing. The waiters were really pleasant aand professional though.
Service was very slow. My wife’s steak was disgusting. The trout was flavorless. The owner comped dessert but did not make up for overpriced bland food
Second visit just as good as the first. LOVE, LOVE me some popovers. Even a good value. I'm not a huge fan of the cornbread myself I must admit, but a friend of mine adores it, and was thus SO disappointed when we only tried to get her a takeout after the cornbread maker was shut down. LOVE the Fried chicken with waffle and the lush butter you get with it. Very nice room and comfortable chairs and benches. As always, nice helpful wait staff. Literally the ONLY downside is how bloody noisy the room gets. But hey: it's New York and noise is just the way it is. Oh, and did I mention the chocolate pot de creme? YUM-MY! I'm sure we'll be back soon. And absolutely no problem with multiple credit cards on a check.
It’s the best!
One of our favorites since at least five or six years back. From cocktails to desserts and everything in between, we leave Buttermilk Channel with a loud ”exactly what we needed!”
Excellent food, beautiful restaurant, but just so crowded. One of those places where your table is less than a foot from the next table on either side, putting you in the middle of your neighbor's conversations. They have to move the table to let you in at the beginning of the meal and out at the end.
Everything else but service was perfect. I think staff is already too sure about restaurant’s success and they don’t bother doing their best. Basic things like greeting customers when they arrive or acknowledging every customer not just your friends are lacking. Sad because it wasn’t like that three years ago when we had a great experience and that’s why we came back. Not so sure we will anymore.
If someone wants good food in a beautiful atmosphere I can recommend this restaurant. If good service is important to you, maybe skip it.
Buttermilk Channel is a wonderful restaurant that really provides a versatile menu and a warm ambiance!
It’s always a great experience at Buttermilk! The food is delicious and the service is top notch. We brought our 17 month old granddaughter and she loved it. She sat on a bench and drew a crayons masterpiece on the paper table cloth while munching on the grilled cheese and ricotta. Great place! I had the warm lamb salad which was amazing Try it.
Chicken and waffles are championship caliber. The staff are friendly courteous and prompt. Everything we had was excellent, seasoned well, and good portions. Highly recommend this place.
Really fun spot! I have been dying to try their chicken and waffles forever, but I was disappointed. The waffles were great but the chicken was under-spiced and under salted. Everything else was great.
Love this neighborhood spot! Great food, great service, wonderful staff!!
Place and Chicken were nice!!!
This is a real find! Everything about the place was great except the limited restrooms. Even taking that into consideration I would highly recommend this restaurant. The menu is very eclectic and has options for vegans and meat eaters alike.
Buttermilk Channel remains one of the neighborhood's best options. I love their cocktails, their vegetarian options, and their friendliness to kids.
The best food, staff is attentive and friendly. Will return again, again and again. just great!
Most absolute wonderful staff. We were dining with 2 toddlers and they were more than accommodating.
Food was very salty and not worth the prices. The overal service however was decent.
Always a quality dinner/evening. Xxxxxxx. Xxxxxxxxxxx
Food and service was amazing! would definitely recommend it!
Food is always delicious. Accommodated my dietary restrictions as well. Service is mediocre at worst, but always friendly. It can just get really busy there sometimes, so staff can't always be as attentive as I'm sure they'd like. Even with reservations, we still had a little bit of a wait (presidents day brunch crowd), which was fine as we just had drinks at the bar. But this is not the place for you if you are in a rush. The fried chicken will always keep me coming back!
Delicious food - definitely worth it!
Delicious meal in a festive atmosphere!
Terrific restaurant. First class service; delicious well-prepared and presented food. Runs a little noisy, but hey: it's New York. Really loved the popovers and the cornbread was so good my dining companion ordered a second. I had the signature Fried Chicken and Waffle and not only was it good, but the chicken was so beautifully brined that the leftovers, cold, were almost better than when hot. We had a WONDERFUL waiter who made a point of introducing us to his replacement when he left. (Don't worry: we checked to make sure tips were pooled - they are - as we didn't want him to miss out.) Even the bathroom is clean, spacious and well-laid out. Literally the ONLY thing I wish were different were you can't change a side - the slaw, while good and clearly house-made isn't really my taste - but that's truly small stuff. We WILL be back, and there's a reason why, in a town with restaurants closing, this one stays open and full.
The host was friendly and attentive. I arrived 30 min early for my reservation and asked if I could be seated early, offering to return at my reservation time, if nothing was available. The host had me seated right away! The servers were attentive without being overbearing, the food (eggs Huntington) was well spiced, salted, and seasoned, and the Bloody Mary was ridiculously good.
I will return and bring all my friends and family.
I love this place so much. i've been multiple times but i'm giving a good review so people on Open table can know
Valentines dinner was awesome here! Deliciously prepared food and cozy romantic atmosphere! Planning on making this an annual tradition ❤️
The best- food, service, value. Upscale but downhome. Happy to see you.
Although the value to food was a bit pricey, the service and personal attention was exceptional.
The service, food, and ambiance was as expected - wonderful.
The food was really delicious and unique. Atmosphere was very pretty and serene. Service and attention was exceptional
