Buttermilk & Bourbon
Drawing on the South’s trademark charm, the restaurant offers a vibrant, cozy atmosphere with an innovative American menu featuring Southern-influences. Santos, who currently owns and operates Boston’s Abby Lane and Back Bay Harry’s, channels his love of New Orleans and all things Southern to transport guests to the Bayou by way of Buttermilk & Bourbon.
Guests can enjoy pork belly cracklings; BBQ Shrimp; house-made biscuits; oyster chowder; crispy boudin; and house-fried chicken served either Southern-style, Nashville-style, or with sweet and spicy or white BBQ sauce. An oyster bar will also serve up a variety of local oysters as well as peel & eat shrimp. Buttermilk and Bourbon serves up hurricanes-on-tap, large-batch cocktails, and a selection of bourbon-based drinks.
Had a great time. The waiter was attentive and accommodating. The food is amazing. The biscuits were so good. The fried chicken was some of the best I have ever had.
Been here a handful of times now for various occasions. Love, love, love their food and menu! Their chicken wings and mac/cheese are the absolute best - along with the deadly biscuits!!! Always fantastic service, great drinks and fun atmosphere. Highly recommend it, and will be back:)
Fantastic food! The brunch meals are served on small plates, but I actually think this was perfect because everything on the menu is delicious, so you want to order several items! I would definitely recommend this to anyone heading to Boston.
Dinner at Buttermilk and Bourbon was wonderful! The food was fresh and well-prepared and there service was attentive without being suffocating. We will definitely come back again!!
Very fun place with great food. The atmosphere has s a "speak easy" feel to it. The cocktails were a bit expensive but were a heavy pour. We will definitely return to finish off the menu.
Our waiter threw us a couple of snide/sarcastic comments that just came off poorly. Most of it happened when we were asking about the menu. Other than that, he was nice, the service was/timing was very good. And I really appreciated having a candle on the dessert! The food was delicious
Great place with great food. I love the shrimp and grits, it reminded me of New Orleans.
Loved everything about this place. The food was A+ Don’t miss the chicken thighs and the biscuits.
Overall very disappointing! The food runner was incredibly rude and unwilling to help. She threw hot plates on our menus and was very unprofessional. Not how I expect to be treated, especially for the price!
It was good
Place is some of the best food in Boston. The entire experience is top notch.
The food portions were a bit small but the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend this place to others
Delicious, inventive Southern inspired cuisine. Sunday brunch on father's day was amazing. Wish it was easier to find parking in the area.
We miss the fried chicken from the first time we came here last summer. Menu wasn’t as good this time.
All the service was amazing as always! Love the food and drink and just about everything about the restaurant!
Love the food and the service. Sarah our waitress was wonderful. My aunt enjoyed her birthday.
Our sever Sarah L. was amazing. Her input was so helpful for our first time. Couldn't have ask for a better experience.
Awesome as usual
Been here a bunch of times. First time getting the white bbq sauce on the fried chicken thighs. We had to order a 2nd round. Unreal.
Our drinks did not come until after our meal. When we spoke to staff about this they were dismissive. It was very noisy. The food was great. Flavors were amazing.
Food, drinks and service were all excellent.
We sat inside at a high top table next to a party of four that were very loud and obnoxious. I think they thought it was their own private party space.
Thought the food was good, but expensive for the amount/ quality. $11 for biscuits is a bit pricy
Amazing! Our sever was great he made celebrating our anniversary perfect!
Amazing food!! My waiter was so nice & charismatic. Definitely can’t wait to come back!!
Sit outside on a nice night! Loved the lamb, and the biscuits.
I’m embarrassed to admit that after multiple visits, this was the first time I had bourbon here. I like it neat. And it was a great start to my meal. My guests and I all ordered cocktails from the menu and they were great; one guest drank every drop of her hurricane. We all ate something different: shrimp and grits, trout, wings, strawberry and spinach salad - We all enjoyed every bite. I was happy to have plenty of room left to eat a couple beignets and they were crispy, fluffy, powdered sugar bits of heaven. I almost ordered them first but they were worth the wait. I also ordered the biscuit bread pudding which was very sweet so bring your sweet tooth.
Service was pretty terrible however it was Pride week so the area was very busy.
Food was delicious and unique. The server was attentive and very pleasant. The restaurant was very loud
The candle lit table and low lights around the restaurant made it feel like a very intimate dinner. The servers didn’t hang around us and let us enjoy the meal. The Char-grilled Rainbow Trout was topped with brown butter aioli and tasted amazing! I would also recommend the Coffee Crusted Grilled Hangar Steak and the juicy New Orleans Style Street Corn. The sharing-style dinner was a plus too.
Fantastic food and delivered a genuine southern experience.
Biscuits were amazing.
Food and service are fabulous!
The food is amazing! We tried several small plates to share amongst the 3 of us. Our waitress could have been better. She did not check in, we had to ask a busser to find her twice so we could get our drinks refilled.
Awesome food as always. We tried lots of different things. Missed Amanda, our favorite server. She was so friendly. I think our server this time was Pam. Not as friendly. Simple question about contents of cocktail. Answered with “I don’t know I’m not the bartender”. Odd response if you as me. Go find out if you don’t know.
Food was amazing! Everything we ordered was fantastic! We loved our dining experience so much, we have already made another reservation!
Food was stellar! We had the buffalo chicken sliders, shrimp and grits and warm honey biscuits. Everything was superb.New favorite spot.
Great food - a little greasy but I’m not complaining! Service was a little infrequent (didn’t have water for half of my meal) but the food comes out FAST
Excellent food and very friendly service. The bourbon selection is extensive but too costly by comparison to other restaurants in the area within a similar range of overall price.
The food was amazing!! We tried several different plates and can’t complain about anything! Can’t wait to eat her again!
One of my favorite small plates restaurants in the city. The menu is inventive, yet comforting. Never had anything here that I hated, and have had several things that I love. The service is great and the ambiance is nice! Definitely one of my go to a for a get together or a treat for a traveling friend.
