Chicken roulade, grilled asparagus, mushroom cream, pomme aligot, sherry
Beef, pork, San Marzanos, toasted baguette, Parmesan, Back40 Farms basil
American cheese, refrigerator pickles, housemade brioche
Excellent, high quality food. The basement level is very nice and romantic. Shoot to seat there if you are a couple. Overall, a great experience.
Perfect place for a birthday dinner with family from out-of-town.
Great service and food!
Absolutely fine dining for a special evening out. Loved food and special beverages.
It was our 47th anniversary. Jill was our server and refer to us as the bride and groom💖 My husband had the brand new pork chop. He said it was amazing and I had the filet, which was so tender. We were surprised with a free dessert. We had the Chiffon Cake Roll. It melted in your mouth just like the Butterhorns. This is my favorite fine dining restaurant in Bismarck!
Fine dining and exceptional service that is rooted in ND basics with an elegant twist. Brunch is a no-brainer with great prices and food. Dinner is also fantastic but prices match the quality which are both higher than average.
Took us a long time to be seated and also took a long time forbour food to be served. But it was worth the wait. Food is fantastic. I loved also the caramel rolls. Highly recommended. Don't forget to make a reservation. 🙂
Very nice staff and great food we will continue to visit!
This was great for my family with teens to enjoy during the evening summer heat!
I'm supportive of what Butterhorn is trying to do and if I had not been so dang hungry after a day on the road and not eating anything I would have opted for something that was a bit more innovative than tater tots over short ribs. But alas, it was meat and potatoes, which filled the bill. Also, they're very proud of the fact they make their own tonic water and recommended we try it with our Bombay and tonics. Not a good idea for gin lovers -- the tonic overpowers the gin and isn't carbonated enough to give the drink that effervescence that is crucial to a good G&T. If I'm ever in Bismarck again, I'll give Butterhorn another try. The people are very friendly and they're nobly trying to fill a need for an independent, upscale eatery in a market that is a sea of chain restaurants.
Excellent place to dine. Never been disappointed. Delicious food, excellent service and friendly staff.
Our first visit to Butterhorn was fantastic; great food, amazing staff and a comfy booth. Three people ordered three different items and we all loved the food. The carnivore Quiche was so good! Cannot wait to return!
Maybe the best restaurant in North Dakota. I can’t think of a better one.
The brunch was fabulous. Our server told us she was new, but she did a great job! She answers our questions and was very accommodating!
We will be back soon!!
My husband and I had dinner at Butterhorn while on vacation we absolutely loved it. The food is wonderful and the staff is very friendly. They have an outstanding wine list and the cocktails are good too. We had such a good time we stayed on extra day and had dinner there again. Would tell anybody wanting an upscale fun place to eat to go to this restaurant.
Our families celebrated a groom’s dinner here and loved every part. The food was delicious and the service was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion. Thank you Butterhorn!
Service was terrific. Great ambiance. Rolls yummy, fun cocktails, good menu.
Dinner was amazing. Great environment for family dinners. Pricey. But pretty good.
Husband leaving on a week long fishing trip and wanted to have a nice dinner together, before he left.
Great Food with outstanding service. Highly recommend
The overall experience was just ok. Service was slow, the Filet my wife ordered was not done to what she ordered. Took for ever for the server to check on us. Eventually the hostess took care of the issue. Noise level was very high hard to talk. On postive side the food was delicious.
The place is bice in the inside but the way it was decorated was like they tried to do a lot of different things. The service was exceptional. The butterhorns are great but the meals were not to the same level. The pasta and sheep kabobs we ordered were good but not outstanding. The drinks cicktail my wife ordered was good but tuny for what it cost. If it was about 2/3 the price, i would not recommend it to other people based on the other options located in bismarck at the buttterhorns current price point.
Menu seems a bit limited compared to previous visits, but understandable in light of the current situation. Both mains were prepared perfectly. Cookie and milk was an excellent dessert!
We had a great experience, the server was very nice.
My only complaint was I had reserved through Open Table a high top (I wanted is to ge by the windows) and ended up with a table in the middle of the restaurant. (The last option I would have chosen.)
We really enjoyed our food and the staff were great
This was our first time at Butterhorn. The Greek &Honey Spinach Salad was very spicy. I should have asked for the dressing on the side. Meatballs were good. Butter horn rolls were excellent. Borscht was very good. We waited over 30 minutes for our dessert order. Due to the delay, the dessert and rolls were on the house. We ate the gelato from the dessert and took the rest home with us. Dessert was fair. Overall, a fair experience.
We were travelling through the Bismarck area and decided to visit this restaurant- a very wise choice on our part. The team at Butterhorns are excellent- superb food - superior service - the Croissants are incredible.
We had family from Florida in town and we all really enjoyed our night out. The food was amazing and our server was very prompt! Will definitely be back again.
Great food and location. Menu changes seasonally so its not the same old thing.
Loved our server, Rusty! Food and drinks were all fantastic.
Rusty, our waiter was so helpful and patient, and fun. The best and pumpernickel salad is outstanding. Hubby's shrimp cocktail was excellent. Both meals were delicious. We're going back again!
Had the creole chicken roulade. The chicken and beans were fantastic. Flavors were good but felt the creole spices fell a little short. Rice was well cooked but bland. Would suggest more beans and less rice to increase the overall spice level.
Drinks were great, steak was great
Beef stroganoff was bland. The beef was a little over done. Good portions.
Wedge salad and house salad were very good.
Waitress was very good she had to explain what the dishes were and what the sides were. There is not a lot of selections on the menu.
We had a fantastic experience! The food was outstanding, our waiter really paid special attention to our needs and went the extra mile. We will definitley be back!
Excellent food, always great here at Butterhorn. Service from Janey excellent as well! Highly recommended
My husband and I chose this place to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. From the minute we were greeted at the door, our experience was nothing short of excellent. We were even treated to a complimentary dessert for the occasion! We will definitely be coming again.
This restaurant is a slice of Heaven in Bismarck, ND!
I always enjoy going to Butterhorn when I'm in Bismarck. The combination of a smooth pinot noir with butterhorns, the beet and pumpernickel salad and the small plate of meatballs was a perfect antidote to the long drought of restaurant dining that was the last year. The meatballs had a buttery rich sauce that was just excellent and the portions can easily be a meal or split as an appetizer for three people. That beet salad is the best!
