Great location!! We had roasted pepper soup and salad ..and the burger ! Only thing that could be better ..please offer a gluten free hamburger bun in the future! I was with 3 GFree diners and we all ate our burgers on a lettuce bed! Such an easy fix to keep GFree buns in your freezer!
Good service. Table set. Comfortable
Amazing fresh made food. Would definitely recommend to some one for a evening out.
Great cuisine with a nice atmosphere.
It was a quiet evening and the staff was very attentive, the bartender was particularly helpful and friendly. We have never gotten anything but excellent food at the Butterhorn, and this visit was no exception- it was excellent
Great food and service. Nice flavors. My husband loved the steak.
The waitress we had was not very attentive, and we went when the restaurant only had a couple other tables filled. There were other waitresses who appeared much better, so it seems kind of hit or miss. The butter horns are not included and are just croissants and not super worth the money. Our appetizer, the corn fritters, was really good. The ricotta pasta was good, the seared chicken wasn't all thay great and was a lot of bone. For the price, I'd much rather go somewhere else like the bistro and have good service and great food! It was good to try, but definitely not a new favorite.
I’m not sure which was better......the food or the service!!! From beginning to end, it was a wonderful experience filled with amazing food, attentive service and peaceful ambiance!
We celebrated our anniversary at the Butterhorn the other night. It was a great choice. The Butterhorns, sort of a cross between a croissant and a butter roll, were fantastic. We also had the Olives with Ricotta and apricot mustarda, also fantastic. The meatballs were great as well. I had the Steak au Poirve which was cooked to a perfect Medium. The other entrees that we ordered looked beautiful in presentation and were reported as absolutely delicious. In honor of our anniversary, a dessert on the house was offered. Our only regret was that we didn't order the bread pudding.
We received great value for our money. Some might consider it to be pricey, but the quality of the food justifies the prices charged.
Very good - this was my third trip to Butterhorn, and the experience is consistently good. The food is delicious, but very rich. They were conscientious in accommodating my allergies. Overall a great experience .
We had the corn fritters as an appetizer and they were amazing. The butterhorns were light and fluffy and definitely worth the extra charge. For the main course we had the seared chicken thighs and the ricotta cavatelli. Both dishes were excellent. The restaurant has a good wine selection both by the glass and by the bottle. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and willing to make recommendations. We will definitely be going back on our next trip to Bismarck!
The food and service was amazing. We will go again.
It was pretty good. I didn’t think the price tag matched the food. Personally I didn’t think $29 for pork tenderloin was worth that. I enjoyed the sides more than the main course. The Butterhorns tasted amazing. I would go back just for those.
Great service! Really felt comfortable and welcome. Food was very good. Large portions.
Food was delicious (though a bit under seasoned). The corn fritters were outstanding and brought us back to Mexico. Well thought out wine selection. Our server could have been friendlier and more attentive but delightful dining experience overall.
The butter horn is a unique dining experience in Bismarck North Dakota. The menu is limited, there is not one item not worthy of being on the menu. Staff is knowledgeable, drinks are excellent. Had a wonderful experience three times over. I would highly recommend this to anybody passing through or anyone of our locals who have not yet read it.
Bismarck...get out and support this FANTASTIC restaurant!! Extremely impressed with the quality of food and authentic warm cozy atmosphere. We spend most of our time in much larger foodie cities so were thrilled to celebrate our Anniversary here this week. Thank you Butterhorn!
I've had some great and some fair meals here. This last time, we waited a long time for our food recently while our beverages were empty. Our waitress walked by numerous times without even looking over. We had to move our glasses to the end of the table for her to realize that we were ready for another glass of wine. Most of our meals were good, but some folks wouldn't order their main entrees again. It's hit or miss with this restaurant. I wish it was a hit all the time.
Butterhorn has a ways to go to be a top restaurant they seem to be aspiring to be. The drinks were great, nice wine selection is wonderful and well thought out and local beer on tap is always great. Walleye cakes, Butterhorn rolls and soup and salads were a hit. Filet and vegetables were average and priced to be exceptional. The crab pasta was average and desserts were below average. So feedback is 1) raise the bar on entrees 2) we spent over $300 and the owner never stopped by our table and 3) deserts we below average and not worth it. I plan to try one more time and hope these 3 issues are resolved. I am happy to have this restaurant in Bismarck!
Food is absolutely fabulous. I will definitely go back again, went for anniversary and it was great.
Never had a bad meal, love it!
We were out of towners looking for a meal of something freshly prepared. We found it! Each item was special; olives and fresh ricotta perfect balance, watermelon salad was summer on a plate, Roman meatballs better than any I have eaten, and just right pasta. The butterhorns 10 times better than grandma’s—such a treat.
Real talent in the kitchen and commitment to an enjoyable experience in the dining room.
Outstanding meal. Compressed watermelon salad was a huge hit!!
The beet and pumpernickel salad was outstanding - great flavors and crunch, and the porterhouse pork chop with sweet potato purée, asparagus and green olives was divine.
What an excellent dining experience - the compressed watermelon salad and the beet and pumpernickel salad were amazing, as was my “porterhouse” pork chop w asparagus, green olives and sweet potato purée. The budino also was outstanding.
This was the best meal I have had here, the strawberry salad and the curry fish was amazing
Hands down, best dining in the area! We couldn’t have loved every course more!
The food was delicious. Very different presentations of popular dishes. Service was great and the wine list was impressive. Highly recommend for a special night out. The buttrrhorn pastries were a special addition to our delicious beet and pumpernickel salad. Being a visitor from wine country in California, I can easily compare this restaurant with those at home.
Everything we had was wonderful. The Butterhorns are amazing. Scallop appetizer, beef tenderloin and barramundi were tasty and perfectly cooked. Desserts were creative. We will definitely be back!
Scallops were amazing. Service was great. Only complaint was that my $11 martini was half the size as a regular martini.
The amazing food and cocktails mixed with the terrific atmosphere will put a shine on your experience.
The drinks, apps, salads, main course and desserts were all spot on! The butterhorn bread deserves its own paragraph!
Service is outstanding as well!
Very satisfied with the food! Highly recommend trying the butterhorns with the seasoned whipped butter!!
Awesome food & service!
Service was good, but compared to the last time we were there the brickhouse chicken I ordered looked like frozen chicken patties and tasted rubbery.
Great quiet place to meet friends. Excellent cocktail selection. Butterhorns are always amazing. Tried the burger this time and even though o ordered it well it was juicy and amazing.
Excellent offerings, friendly service, great ambiance. Great for special occasions and even better anytime!
First time dining at Butterhorn & really enjoyed it! The food & service were excellent & we enjoyed the atmosphere. All in all, a great evening
The butter horns were not very warm, also they did not have the crust they had last time. The walleye cakes were good but such little sauce you did not have enough to flavor both cakes. We were sharing this so doubly hard to get much of the flavor.
Being from out of town we tried this restaurant based on reviews, it lives up to the hype. The butterhorn rolls were delicious, very rich and buttery. The walleye cakes were better than I expected, mild fish flavor that paired well with the creamy remoullard sauce. A very refreshing appetizer. We shared the steak au poirve which came with roasted fingerling potatoes and charred Brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked to perfection and was very tender. No room for dessert. Service was excellent and the wine list is generous. A wonderful meal, if we lived here we’d be regulars!
