Strange experience overall… will assume that they were short staffed, hence our hostess poured out water, service was painfully slow etc. Slow service is completely understandable given the e labor shortage however wrong orders for the entire table of course is not. The entire group of four ordered the burger, which is we’ll reviewed here. But unfortunately every single one was prepared incorrectly, all were overcooked that the taste of the burger was lacking. And given the slow service to get our burgers- none of us wanted to send our dish back because it might take another 45 minutes + for a new entree to arrive. On top of this the staff was just miserable… one could not be more expressionless than the other. Sad as I’ve heard great things … but this was definitely not.

The atmosphere was wonderful. The small plates were delicious. The entree's were very small portions for the price. The small plates were bigger portions then the entree's. The curry lamb stew was very bland, but good quality otherwise and the NY Strip steak was delicious and seasoned great, but again for the price all you got was steak no sides. The chocolate cake for dessert was good but the butterscotch pudding was very grainy and outrageously sweet. The staff and the atmosphere were wonderful.

Lobster bisque - undercooked veggies, bland, almost as if we got an undercooked batch after running out Risotto was standard at best Filet was good, and desserts ok Server couldn’t wait to be done with her shift - short and kinda rude Expected more because of previous visits. Bummer experience.

Wonderful as it always is. We enjoyed the Squid Ink Pasta, Wild Striped Bass, Kale Salad & Tuna Crudo Tacos for our dinner. Molten Chocolate Cake and Butterscotch Sundae for dessert. Always a treat to eat here!

I have always loved Butterfield, but sadly the quality of the food has only gone down in the last few years. My first few visits left me raving about the service, ambiance, and delicious food, but the last few times have been borderline disappointing. The ambiance is still incredible, but the service has slightly declined; waiting for water for too long, server saying they’ll bring more bread and never do, etc. However, the most disappointing aspect is the decline in food quality. They say their menu changes every day, but it doesn’t change that drastically and the dishes don’t feel very inspired. Last night there was no vegan option available for an entree for a guest of mine (they usually have at least one), and the rest of the food was bland and unexciting. I’ll give Butterfield one more shot because I love the atmosphere, but if it continues to decline, I can’t justify the paying that much money for food that isn’t satisfying.

This is one of my favorite restaurants — cozy, wonderful staff, delicious food. The bar and dining rooms are both beautiful, historic rooms that thoughtfully reflect the Inn itself.

From the moment we entered we were warmly greeting and made to feel at home, this continued through out the meal. The food was excellent as was the service. We are leisurely diners and we never once felt rushed as we took three hours to enjoy our meal. While a bit pricy at $310 (with tip) for dinner for two, it was well worth it and we will return. Next time we plan on booking a room upstairs to stay overnight and enjoy brunch the next morning.

What a wonderful hidden gem! This was my first time dining at this establishment. I had always admired the historic stone building as I drove by on Rt 209 and wondered what cuisine was served there. As you enter the building from the parking lot, you are able to see inside the kitchen through a glass exterior wall. Very unique. The interior was beautifully lit with great ambiance. Perfect for a “Date night”. For an appetizer we split the tuna tacos, which were delicious . Our main course were equally as tasty. We shared the Beaverkill Trout and the venison loin. We will definitely be frequenting this establishment more often.

Butterfield's was a perfect venue for a "friendsgiving" meal with cherished pals. It was decked out in autumnal finery and the menu featured creative and unique options and the wine list was robust. A fine dinner was had by all!

What a beautiful place! Gorgeous setting for a truly delectable meal. We tried shishito peppers with mustard salt, bass in buerre Blanc and orecchiette with squash, feta and herbs, and lemon brulee tart for dessert. So lovely and romantic, we'll be sure to visit again.

Second time here, won’t be back just because pasta came out so uncooked. Returned it and took 35 minutes for my meal to return. My fiancé was ready for dessert at this time. Tuna tacos are really good! But as a front of house manager I cringed at how they responded to the overcooked pasta!

Doesn't live up to its own hype. Lovely ambiance but very ordinary food, at high New York City prices. Foie gras was right out of the fridge. Cavatelli bolognese had so little flavor I had to add salt. Warm chocolate cake was as soupy as pudding. Perfectly pleasant for a date night or special occasion, but don't go for the food.

Delicious!! A must dine!!!! Best tuna tacos ever. I had the eggplant with hummus and it was a vegetarian delight. My husband had the venison which was tender and perfect. We will definitely be back!
