    Butch's Dry Dock is one of our favorite go to places to entertain guests and special occasions. Angela, the bartender makes the best Cosmopolitans! The food is always good and love being able to take a walk around Downtown Holland and then go to dinner. It's great!

    Highly recommend the Chicken Parmigiana and the Spaghetti with shrimp. Also, the music was exceptional - elegant, smooth and easy long time classics - piano only- pleasant, happy, calming, easy to talk, no thumping base during dinner, music - not noise. Whoever selected the music needs to be appreciated as the tone of the music matches the elegant setting of the restaurant and the quality of the food and food choices and service. The next section (select all that apply) has really insufficient choices. These words do apply: Reliably excellent food, interesting food, attention to details, great value, elegant setting, white table cloths and flowers. Butches is currently dinner only but oh, what a dinner it is.

    As usual, completely enjoyed our dinner at Butch's. The cauliflower appetizer is delicious, and we shared the parmesan chicken and a burger--for variety. Cocktails and wine were also directly on point: just what we wanted!

    It is always overpriced and the food never lives up to the description. We were seated and then forgotten. The martini was the saving grace. I have never had a good meal there and won't be back unless I'm forced to.

    This was our first time here. It was awesome! From the salads we had as starters to our main dishes of Filet Mignon and Parmesan Crusted Chicken, everything was delicious! We definitely plan to go back.

    1st impression was very nice. Drinks and appetizers were very good. Main entrees were not cooked as asked…1 was cold the other tough. For over $50 a plate we expected better. Service was great. So disappointed.

    This is a small thing but when I made the reservation, I was asked if there was a special occasion and I responded it was our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were seated and the waitress greeted us with a "Happy anniversary" which was very nice. However, for the meal, there was not any kind of special offer/discount /free appetizer. I guess I am just curious why ask about the special occasion if the restaurant is not going to do anything with that information except with a greeting. Maybe my expectations were too high? However, everything overall was very nice.

    The aged steak is fantastic! Great beer and sides to go with it too. Service was okay, but I think they were short staffed so our server was serving too many people at once.

    one of our favorite restaurants in Holland. Food and service is always great. The staff always makes you feel welcome and special. Shrimp and spaghetti was very good and the pork chop was delicious. It was a very hot day so for dessert we wanted something light, our server recommended the watermelon sorbet. WOW! It was Great, super watermelony if that is a word. Light and refreshing. The sign of a great restaurant is the little things and Butch's is paying attention.

    Another lovely evening at Butch's. Each visit has a nice surprise and this evening it was a deliciously prepared grilled salmon salad. The salmon was perfectly done, tender and delicious. The seasonings were perfection. It was served on a bed of arugula, which I usually love, but was missing some sort of light dressing. My husband order the Bistro Burger and was happy with the change in quality from our very first visit when he said it was dry and not great. He was so enthused about it this time that I think I'll have to try it on our next visit. Service was a little slow at times, but the restaurant was very busy and our waitress did her best to keep us informed. If you're looking for a moderately noisy, white tablecloth great food experience, be sure to be seated in the front of the restaurant. The back area is very loud and much more casual, so keep that in mind when you make your reservation...maybe add your choice of the front rooms in a note to the staff so you're not disappointed if you're looking for a less boisterous experience.

    The food and drinks were great. I was hoping for special touches because I had told them it was for my husband’s birthday. Maybe my expectations there’s were too high. They did seat us at a table with a nice street view. Overall, it’s a good choice for fine dining.

    We truly enjoyed our experience at Butch’s! Our server Mary Ann was well versed in the menu and concept, and also made for a great asset for our touristy questions. Butch came over and guided us through their expansive wine collection. They are Wine Spectator Best Award of Excellence (two glasses) and it showed! Gluten free friendly 😂 Get a table by the street to people watch, or a table in back for more privacy. (We opted for people watching!) 🥂

    Absolutely outstanding anniversary dinner experience! From appetizers to the incredible Basque cheesecake, we loved every minute of our evening. Our server was attentive, helpful and really gracious and we loved meeting the GM/sommelier. What a knowledgeable team who know how to make guests feel welcome! Our wine choice was also perfect and it was such a pleasure to discover so many unusual, curated bottles on offer. We will definitely be back!

    We had a great meal last night. We would strongly recommend Butch’s if you want a relaxed outdoor atmosphere with exceptional waitstaff, food quality, and presentation. We talked about how knowledgeable on the wine list and menu our server was. This is rare in dining these days. We dined with two of our boys and they said thumbs up to the walleye and flank steak! The halibut feature was chef’s kiss. We’ll definitely be back.

    Our server was good and the flatbread appetizer was good (not great). I was not impressed with the beet salad (was a bit under-dressed and not much flavor). My biggest problem is that the sirloin steak that was over $50 was tough. I didn’t send it back because it was cooked perfectly but I make much better steaks that I buy at the grocery store. Just underwhelming for the price.

    Arrived on time for reservation. We were sat in back bar area despite the fact that front area was not occupied — no linen tablecloths, had a view of parking area, was not asked where we would like to sit — not acceptable for this priced restaurant. Restroom required going downstairs. Drinks were served without coasters / drink napkins on a metal topped table. Needless to say, they sweat all over — had to ask for additional napkins. Server asked about a cocktail refill (naturally) but never asked about refilling the iced tea. Ordered their walleye and plank steak entrees. Both were served lukewarm at best. Entrees had flavor but portion sizes were small, very small. Plank steak was cooked to order. But overall it was not a good value at all. We split their chocolate flourless torte for dessert. It was very good, but again a really small size portion. No appetizers/starters, no bread, one cocktail, two entrees, one split dessert = $100+tip. Not happy and will not return.

    Lovely restaurant with some troubles. Our waitress, Sutton, was very good, other than slowness, which originates in the kitchen. Our starters were slow to come out. Then there was a delay with entrees, due to an issue in the kitchen. Background jazz was close to deafening at times. My Salmon salad was tasty, but the salmon was close to well done, when I was told it would be prepared med rare. My husband's pork chop was chewy and tough. Our dining experience was close to 2 hours on an evening with less than 50% occupancy.

    We had high hopes, but were disappointed. They accommodated us as walk-ins (as no reservations were available on Open Table), but then lost us. But they later found our name, and we were seated in the formal area with firm, wooden chairs. The wine list by the glass had some interesting choices, but with surprisingly few California wines. The sourdough bread was excellent. My kale salad was good, but the $10 grilled chicken add-on option was nothing but a refrigerator cold, kind of dry piece of chicken breast with a bit of seasoning. I expected much better. There were few options for vegetarians: my wife's choice the cauliflower steak, which she thought was just OK. The service was good. Butch's has a great reputation, so others might have a much better experience, but we were underwhelmed.

    We had a lovely time and our meals were delicious EXCEPT that two steak salad entrees were served without the potatoes. When we informed our server, she shrugged and said that the chef was new. We were not offered a comp, or brought the potato portions out, or a replacement. We feel we should have bee given something in return for two incomplete entrees.

    I ordered a filet that came out as two thin sliced ends. It was very dry and very tough on the outside. I didn’t want to be rude by sending it back but I couldn’t eat it. Very disappointing as it was expensive. This was my first really bad experience here but I won’t be back

    Butch’s dry dock was easily the worst meal that we have had in many years. Our server Nicole was absolutely amazing and apologized profusely for everything that went wrong. My dirty martini was oily, and my husband’s Negroni was not a Negroni. They basically served him Campari on ice. We ordered the blue crab dip and it was very fishy. To me, as a trained chef, the screams that it’s not fresh. The pita that was served with it was so over fried that it was dripping in oil, an intentional thing according to our server. I ordered the Flank steak cooked medium rare, and it was chewy and over cooked. The sauce on the plate was absolutely A-1 even enough the server swore up and down it was a “bliss” sauce. It was disgusting. The only edible thing in my plate was the asparagus. We will absolutely not be back and warn any potential customers that you will be wasting your money if you dine here.
