A little less than average service. Waitress a little bit distracted. Food is great. Classic building.
Great place. Good value for money. meat was superb. You can skip dessert
We absolutely love this restaurant and have always gotten great service and wonderful food. The bartender was delightful and the drinks we wonderful. Not a every night type of place but exceptional for special occasions or when you just want to soak in the atmosphere. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and everything was perfect.
We were a little disappointed since we were expecting a little bit more of the Chicago-style ambiance of an old time steak house. Experience was just "ok". Food was good just not special and service was just ok, nothing special. Afterwards, realizing we were in San Diego we wish we would have opted for a seafood restaurant instead. Oh well.
We all had beef of some sort. Potato skin appetizer was fair, too much potato so they weren’t at all crispy. Porterhouse was very average as was prime rib. Beef tenderloin medallions with blue cheese was good as was lava cake dessert. Wine list was shockingly limited for a steakhouse at this price point. Only 5 or 6 Cabernet Sauvignon on the list and it topped out with a low end Stags Leap. Service was great and ambiance very appropriate for an old school steak house.
One of the best meals we have had there. PerfectPrime Rib and Top Sirloin. One of my favorite places to go service was perfect
Delightful evening. Retro 50’s environment good good. Reasonable prices
Love this place. The staff is very friendly. The food is great.
This is a great place. Great and friendly staff. Great food and drinks
We have dined at the Butcher Shop several times before while visiting San Diego. It has become one of our favorites. We were in town so chose the Butcher Shop to celebrate Valentine's Day and had another wonderful dinner. We had shrimp cocktail starters, my husband had the soup and I had the spinach salad. Then for dinner we enjoyed melt-in-your-mouth filets accompanied by perfectly prepared vegetables. For desert we chose the mixed berries atop a decadent cream sauce. The service was second to none and on a VERY busy evening; the quality of food was top notch; and the price very reasonable.
We love the ambiance of the red leather booths contrasted against the rich dark stain of the walls, white linens and ornate lighting. THE BUTCHER SHOP IS "A REAL GEM"!!
As always butcher shop was excellent...Service n good is good
Old school Chicago-style steakhouse is one of our favorites in San Diego. Prime rib melts in your mouth.
Waitress was rude and I didn’t appreciate her service on such a special night
Very nice, great food and fairly inexpensive!
Valentine’s Day dinner was exquisite! Service was exceptional.
Valentine’s Day dinner
Wonderful experience all around! The waitress was very tentative. Food hot and fresh as always. Drinks are amazing.
The service here was outstanding, the food was really good as usual. The steak was overcooked per how I ordered it, but it was still delicious. Will definitely return again.
It was my husband’s birthday and it was our first time at your restaurant.. service and food were awesome! Too bad that your prices are on the expensive side so only for special occasions would we be back...
Our server Elsa had a nice personality, and was quite conversant with the menu and knowledgeable about the preparations each dish. The port wine sauce/bleu cheese combo on the beef was amazing- should have saved some bread to get it all! The pasta primavera exceeds expectations. Instead of swimming in a cream sauce with tiny unidentifiable bits of veggies, this was delicately seasoned fettuccine with tiny tender spring vegetables. Lovely ambiance, especially the fireplace, molding, beams, photos. The tables (in the front room, at least, were close and others’ conversations were inescapable. Good music selections
