Steak
Reminiscent of a classic Chicago-style steakhouse, The Butcher Shop features only the finest quality mid-western aged steaks and chops, charbroiled to perfection over a mesquite wood-fired grill. In addition to the USDA Choice & Prime Beef steaks, the extensive menu also is highlighted by Angus Prime Rib, slow-roasted to retain its tender juiciness, as well as veal, chicken, lobster tail, king crab legs, and shrimp entrees. The dessert selection is nothing short of decadent, and there is a full bar and excellent wine list. The ambiance is elegant, warm, and intimate with rich dark wood paneling, comfortable leather booths, gleaming brass, beautifully etched-glass panels, and a cozy fireplace. The gracious and attentive service staff will anticipate your every need and ensure that your dining experience exceeds your highest expectations. Whether you visit for lunch, dinner, or just cocktails & appetizers in the lounge, you will soon list this among your favorite dining destinations.

Went here for restaurant week. It took about 45 min to get our food. When it did finally come it wasn’t even hot. It wasn’t cold either it was just like room temperature. All the dishes we had were not hot. I mean if you order a medium well piece of meat shouldn’t it come out hot or at minimum warm??? I had the sea bass with scallops and it was very boring only 2 scallops and the sea bass was fishy in some parts. Not impressed. Will probably not be back

Our server paid more attentive to his other tables and we felt awkward. Pepper usually gets offered for the salad and he never offered it to our table. We observed that our drinks took longer than other tables near us that ordered after us and we had to flag down other staff for assistance throughout the meal.

The fish was good, but pass on the lava cake. It was cold and solid

We both ordered from the Rest. Week menu and had the same items. The bacon-wrapped scallops were very good, but the prime sirloin steak was very tough. The trio of sorbet had only 2 types (they ran out), and the key lime pie was very disappointing. The assist. mgr. said the steak is a "baseball" cut - no idea what part of the cow that came from. I had to send mine back to be butterflied and cooked more. The mgr. also gave us a ridiculous story about the sorbet, saying there's not enough room in the kitchen for 3 types. What a dodo!

We went here for our anniversary, on a Sunday night during Restaurant Week. We ordered from the Restaurant Week prix fixe menu; for $40 each I think it was reasonable. My husband enjoyed the shortribs and the lava cake; my sirloin and lobster tail were cooked properly, but the sirloin was a little tough. The creme brulee was enough for two people, but it was not "bruleed" at all--no crackly crust :( Our server was great! We would probably go back if we wanted steak, because it is very close to where we live. But I'm not sure the full price menu is worth it.

Seems like they have a crowd of regulars they cater to and you feel unwelcome if you’re new. Food was average. Salad and apps looked sad, but tasted fine. Créme brulee (no crunchy sugar layer) and tiramisu (didn’t taste like coffee) were very disappointing. Prime rib and short ribs were tender.

It's a great spot for special occasions. Pricey, but expect a return on your investment. Food was good; my wine had soured and hubby's drink was weak. Still a fun spot to dine.

Sunset dinner is a great deal at $24 for prime rib and catch of the day. Upordered the macadamia crusted halibut and it was very good. Prime Rib was perfect medium and excellent spicy horseradish. Drinks were very reasonably priced for cocktails and wine by the glass.

Very disappointed in the meal. I ordered a new your steak & tasted lots of added flavoring but not a good grilled steak taste .... even the sampler platter was just so so, nothing special

We went tonight for New Years Eve dinner. The steaks were cooked as ordered. The prime rib was seasoned nicely and very tender. The atmosphere is like an old mobster movie, perfect for a get together with friends.
We were able to talk without having to yell over the crowd. Waitress was attentive and service was very good.

My reservation was for 4:00 p.m. My guest & I arrived at 3:50 p.m. The host advised that they were in the midst of a shift change & that he could not immediately seat us. He allowed me & my 92-year-old father to wait in a draft entry area for 15 minutes. He was clearly unable to think out of the box--or at all. I fail to understand why a restaurant that I have frequented regularly for decades employs someone of his caliber. I also fail to understand why a 4:00 p.m. reservation was accepted if seating was not able to be accomplished until 4:15 p.m.
On the upside, our server, Julie, was outstanding.

We have dined here numerous times. At least the last 6 times the food is not cooked correctly. Most times the food is sent back to the kitchen which leaves the other diner to eat alone. The server is always told how to have the meat/potato cooked but this rarely provides the food being prepared as requested. Sometimes the manager is notified. The manager on duty Sunday night did come to the table to discuss our concerns. We did not ask for him to come over and we never ask for the meal to be comped. We keep coming back but because of the expense, the frustration, and overall disappointment, we are reluctant to return.

Everything was wonderful with the expecting being that all three filet mignons ordered for our table were slightly overcooked and they trimmed the rack of lamb wayyy too much and compared to what others were served ours was tiny.

This was not our first time at the Butcher Shop! We enjoy dining here during the year, but always during the holidays!! The food is always great, service is tops, and the value is very good! The restaurants ambiance is very classy without being stuffy! Nice to have the wait staff be very professional and personable! My only complaint would be the situation in the parking lot!
It was definitely a busy evening, but the line for valet parking was excessively long and slow! Would be nice to have more self-parking spots!

I’ve gone several times before, but this time I do have to say I wasn’t impressed. First my dad didn’t get his wine until his dinner arrived (server said the bar was busy, really) and it was his birthday! Then another server brings out the food puts it right next to us, but doesn’t distribute them? I guess we had to wait for OUR server to give it to us? I am glad we left after dessert because seated parallel to us was a table of 6 drunk customers I could see eventually getting loud and obnoxious!

Without a doubt, The Butcher Shop serves the best prime rib in town. And prime rib is offered among many other things at their bounteous Thanksgiving buffet -- including lamb, turkey, ham, and salmon. Gravies are excellent and their rustic bread stuffing is remarkable for all of its textures and taste. My mother preferred her own fabulous cooking to most restaurants but I could have brought her here, Nuf said.

This was their Thanksgiving buffet. The food was excellent. We went about noon and the selection of items was quite extensive. The food was warm and fresh. We were given a table in front of the fireplace which was nice. I asked to have my roll heated and the server brought us two warmed rolls. Initially, my husband declined his complimentary glass of champagne, but later a gentleman stopped at our table to inquire how everything was and my husband asked for the complimentary glass of champagne. The man returned with a glass that turned out to be Martinelli's sparkling apple cider. Mistake? When our server was made aware of this she apologized and brought the glass of champagne. Thanksgiving at the Butcher shop has been a tradition for us and we will be returning.
